Day 3 and I'm still standing. I think I might need to drink more fluids. I am not getting enough I think.. not for any reason just more because I'm tracking and it seems low. Anywho...

As for the teacher.. she is fluent in French and English so her proficiency isn't an issue. I just think perhaps if you have an accent you should be restricted to only teaching children their mother tongue, not a second language. However, maybe they will be stronger for it going into second grade?

Letitgo - it happens, don't stress it.

Stan - any idea what the average bounce would post break fast? I am preparing for 20% bounce.. is that reasonable or should I expect more? Just want to not have overly high expectations.

Off to walk the kiddies to school. Have a great day!

LJ-LC I have wondered that very same thing!

Bit more time now, lemme bloviate just a little:

In the beginning when I started this 8-month long journey, I can now see how IMPATIENT I was. But also, I was afraid of failing and thought I might further confuse my already damaged metabolism. I thought my food intake had to be just so....in order to lose.

Well.... maybe not. It isn't that complicated or magical.

Your metabolism is confused, yes. But you already knew that, Laura. It isn't the end of the world and you can improve it. And you already knew that too!

Our magnificent bodies are designed to keep us alive in times of famine. And to prepare--during times of plenty--for the upcoming Winter that never really comes any longer. Those lean times that have been around for centuries and we were made to survive those.

My advice to you, is to use your brain to keep your body convinced it doesn't have to go into storage mode.

I, now.... am UTTERLY convinced Intermittent Fasting is the perfect solution for Metabolic Syndrome, Pre-Diabetes, Insulin Resistance, Obesity....all of it. Jason Fung is proving that to my satisfaction. And armed with his experience treating Diabetics, I just no longer believe we need to eat 3 square meals a day in our culture, and maybe we never have. Even small meals, or Low Carb...or whatever. So why do it?

We were obviously designed to store extra fuel in these expandable fuel tanks called fat cells. And we're simply over-fueled. So over-fueled in fact, we don't feel good. And we still are hoarding fuel.

We seem obsessed in our hoarding, like keeping a 1500 gallon storage tank out back, topped-off EVERY time the tanker truck comes by. But then, stupidly... we only use our temporary fuels like little bottles of propane. Just like you might buy for a gas grill. (AND IT'S MORE EXPENSIVE.)

Such is Fat and Glucose. That's how I see it. We oughta be burning fuel from the main tanks.

Having said all that, you may have to keep your body guessing, even AFTER you think you've gotten this fat loss game all dialed in. Your cells aren't stupid, and they are hard wired for survival, right up to their appointed time for replacement with new cells. That's called Autophagy (think of it as programmed cell death) and it just doesn't work right whilst eating 3 squares with snacks.

Terri B yes I direct the Church Orchestra at our Church. But I'm not a real pastor. I wouldn't wanna be in a church that'd have me for a pastor, no no no! That'd be all kinds of WRONG right there, but yeah, I like helping people. Guilty as charged. I've had some success, and if I could help someone else here, the time I spend would be worth it for me.

A healthy, well balanced church is not unlike "one beggar, just telling another beggar where he can find bread." I like that a lot, even though it's more complicated than that.

Charlotte 20% post fast bounce is too low for me. Maybe 75 is closer for me. But if you come of a long term fast with serious, committed, intermittent fasting that would be possible. Honest Fasting clears out LOTS of water.

I love fasting, and it helps me with my priorities. Just be realistic about how much FAT you are actually burning with an extended fast. It's less than you think.

I sure hope I have a job, after I discover how much time I'm spending here. I guess there are worse things to spend time on, say the voices in my head. Then there's that other voice that says GET TO WORK, NOW BUCKO!

I think the last one's louder at the moment.

<The End>

Stan,

It amazes me how many people look at me like I have two heads when I tell them I eat only once a day. I'm convinced that I.F. is the only reason that I have not gained all my weight back (like I've done several times in my life). I have a 20 lb swing, but not 80-90.

I say, if I eat 3 squares a day, I'm gaining. No if's ands or buts. And not everyone's body is made for the famine. THOSE are the people that would die off sooner that the stout folks like US. I could make it all winter!

Somebody didn't complete Day 2 of her fast. I was committed until about 7:00. We have this delicious thick bacon in the fridge that makes delicious BLT lettuce wraps. We also have pistachios which I should have avoided... I was still pretty low carb, so I don't think I did any permanent damage. I'm just committing to LCIF today. I left the pistachios out for the man, so they'll probably be gone when I get home.

I totally agree with what Stan is saying about IF. We've gotten so good at food production in the last couple hundred years, we're killing ourselves with kindness.

True! I get the stout, famine-surviving genes from all sides. I do genealogy and all of my lines have been this side of the pond since colonial times, so you know they had to have lived through lean times on more than one occasion.

Kind - sucks that happened but you have way less reserves so maybe your body just wasn't having it. Take care of your back and then maybe try intermittent fasting instead? Good luck!

I sure was hopeing for that >.goal to make it 4 days.Maybe not enough water.
I think if I could have made it today that this would be the easy one.
I been reading Dr. Fung book{Every one that wants to do fasting should read it.
So going to still watch so I don't gain,And maybe restart Monday {-1- day and see.

9/08/2017.. 204.7 That's a new low for me.

I'm having some Blood Pressure issues. Early this year, in conjunction with trying to get my weight under control, my doc put me on 10 mg of Lisinopril in the AM and it worked well until a month ago, I started noticing a rise in my numbers. I shot off an email and she moved me to 20 mg every morning and it worked VERY well. (Without an office visit no less! I LOVE my clinic!)

But in the last week I've had 4 significant dizzy spells and one of them made me fearful of KONKING OUT whilst driving. Well, I took my BP during the one that happened during Orchestra Rehearsal Wednesday night and it was 98 over 58! So I was right to be afraid while driving Sunday.

Well, I had another vertigo/ near-faint yesterday in my shop while printing, and headed for my BP Cuff.

99/60!

I FOR DANG SURE don't wanna "go night night" while standing up, when it's over 6 feet between the concrete floor and my noodle.

The Clinic can't see me today, but the nurse called me back and said go ahead and cut my dose in half. (Once again no appointment, no shutting down the backshop to drive across town, and no $$ needed!)

We'll see if that works, but I wonder if my big weight loss has finally made a difference in my Blood Pressure. I'd sure like to think so!! Maybe I can get off my Lisinopril all together someday.

Michael and I are going to lunch today at our favorite local BBQ joint...my treat! He beat me in our August totals but I won't let that happen again! Surely he'll put on a pound or two (hehe) before we leave the smokeshack. (I'm so wicked!) I omitted a few hunnert calories yesterday to prepare for this event.

I'm gonna clobber him this month.

Have a great Friday!

Well, it was bound to happen at some point I guess... I didn't have a good eating day yesterday.

I had some people over to watch the football game, and there was food everywhere. I ate too much, and ate during my fasting time. I need to be more disciplined. I wonder if they make fasting shock collars? It would detect if you put food in your mouth during your fasting window and then shock you unconscious if you did. haha!

I'm paying for my bad eating with my weigh in this morning and how I feel. I feel sluggish and my mood is not great. It makes me realize how much better I feel when I do eat right. :-(

Really looking forward to getting together with Stan for lunch today! I may have to tone down how much I eat though! Got to get my act together the rest of the month if I'm going to be him!!

I want one of those collars! I tried to get my friends to slap me if I put any junk in my mouth, but they're not always around. Obviously, they weren't around last night and this morning's weight is a testament to that.
Stan, in July I was feeling a little fainty at the gym and thought maybe I'd lost enough weight that my BP was now too low with the 10 mg Lisinopril I was taking. I went home and took my BP and found out it had crept up again! After having lost another 20 pounds! Then the doc put me on a total of 20 mg of Lisinopril and added a little water pill. Now I'm getting dizzy even more if I bend over and stand up too quickly, but my numbers are pretty decent. My top number is in the high 90's, which is low, but my bottom number is in the 70's where it should be. It's very frustrating. For years, heavy or not, I used to have nice, normal BP.
Kind, now I want to go check out that other site about the Fung posts. I would like to become a better faster. You did great. I've only made it up to a day and a half.

Struggling...likely a little depression going on. Not being able to get back on track just adds to it especially knowing it will help to cut the crap out of my diet.

We had a meeting today at school (kids return on Monday). We of course discussed the impact of Harvey's flooding on our district's kids and our personal students and a few of our staff members. We are having to adjust curriculum etc. But, the numbers...the ways families were impacted...it was heart wrenching. Lots of tears among us today.

If y'all don't mind I'll keep posting even if my numbers are up and down. I try each day.

Thanks for the slaw recipe Judy

Ugh, that sounds really rough Ang. I'm really sorry you are dealing with that.

OF COURSE you should keep posting. The fact that you are still losing weight dealing with all the stress and depression is amazing.
