Back up a pound to 176. I guess this is the spot my body prefers since I eat almost no carbs and about 2000 calories a day.

Aaarrrrrg and ugh. 132. Am doing a "fat fast" all weekend to get this back under control! Goal is 129.4 because that will put me at an even 70 gone. Can't wait! The issue is being too busy to exercise, stress from writing a really hard and long paper...blah

Meat and eggs for three days and then low carb. Lost 3 pounds but have 2.2 to go for my 118 goal. Woke up at 120.8 today. The same as yesterday. I am sure it will go down if I keep up eating clean. It is hard when you have to eat out. I am supposed to meet a group at a mexican restaurant after work. I will be starving. Options are pick the meat out of the fajitas and eat some of the veggies. They tend to be greasy and not so low cal. I may not go but husband will be there and not happy if I go home. I will see if they are all done eating since they meet at 6:30 and I don't leave work till 7:15 and have to drive 25 minutes.

Debbie take some food with you to eat before you head over to the resturant. I usually pack some snack type or hard boiled eggs with me for just that event.
124.5 this am and very happy. I feel that I am getting in control again. It is a slow descent and I need to give my self time.

weighed-in at an all time high of 2 1/2 years...136!!! Oh no....I'm not at all happy!!! I will work on it next Tues.. I'm going away for a 3 day weekend, so I can't do it right now, although I will be careful. I believe it's too many carbs! They're creaping in! I hope to have a better report next week. It's a journey...right?

Deb, yes it is a journey and sometimes it gets rough. Hang in there and don't get discouraged. Do the best you can.

Scale read 151.5 this morning (got on twice because I didn't believe it), but I'm afraid to claim it in my stats just yet--perhaps I'm a little dehydrated?
It also could just be a big whoosh because there was hardly any scale movement in January, so my body may just have been resisting, and this is a real loss that represents several weeks. I was trying to get to 155 to 'begin' true maintenance, so it's time now for me to do that. On my plan, JUDDD, you raise the calorie levels to determine the combination that represents maintenance for you, and that's what I'll now begin doing. |

Still just barely hanging under 110 (109.2). I can't seem to get motivated to lose a little more since the holidays. I keep telling myself my doctor likes me at my current weight but I'm afraid I'm going to get lazy and gain more. I really get mad at myself too because it seems like its always "all or nothing" for me. Why does it have to be an obsession or else, and with so many things going on in this world, I feel guilty over worrying about something like gaining a few pounds.

Well, JG, I don't know how tall you are or how you really look and feel at 105 vs. 109-110, but I do know that at a weight like yours, 5 pounds feels like 20 might feel to someone at a higher weight. People need to understand that. And for such a tiny woman as yourself, those five pounds are worrisome because if they become seven and then ten--that's a lot to try to get rid of again. So, while it's not my intent to be discouraging at all, what I'm trying to say is: your concerns are legitimate and I understand where they're coming from.
There will always be tragic, troubling, crazy things going on in the world. Don't feel guilty. It accomplishes nothing. Last edited by peanutte; 02-11-2011 at 07:54 AM.. |

it is so true that when you are short 5 pounds feels like 20.( or maybe 10)
I gain every winter. I used to accept 122 and my doctor is happy with 122. She tells me I am the same every time she sees me. That is good but I feel better at 118. I just can't seem to get there right now. Why do I gain in the winter. It is like my metabolism goes down the tubes no matter what I eat or how much I exercise. Yesterday I was ready to give up. I ate bread.I didn't eat much else though because my chicken and salad left me starving after 6.25 hard miles. They gave me so little chicken I couldn't believe they charge 10.95 for 5 little chunks. I got the shish kabob with double salad instead of rice. I skipped the sauce that is all tomatoes. I figured it was the best option at this restaurant. My goal is to be able to find a way to eat I can live with and not feel totally deprived. I can skip sweets. I can skip bread most of the time. I do eat it before my long runs and sometimes after if I am putting in 3 hours of running I am more then burning it off. I will try to stay on my healthy eating and not so much low carb for now I guess because the VLC was getting very hard and I don't want to feel deprived and go into a binge. I am maintaining my once accepted weight but don't want to gain even a pound more at this point. |

Maybe we should just quit weighing in. I feel that sometimes that is the "frustrator" the scale. Maybe we could use a different yardstick.
126 for me today and I do feel frustrated with it. IS it truly the winter???? Sometimes I think it is.

Loretta, the scale is our truth-teller, whether we like it or not. I'm sorry you feel frustrated and discouraged right now, but to my mind there is no more reliable measure than the scale. Certainly a tape measure also provides useful information, but I have never had the tape measure tell me what the scale did not reflect by correlation. Going by the fit of our clothes isn't very accurate, as clothing stretches, shrinks, and fits differently at different times.
Please don't give up--but please don't view the scale as the enemy, either. I think most of us would say the scale keeps us honest, whether we're pleased or disappointed with what it says. You've been maintaining for a long, long time--nearly ten times what I have done thus far. I respect that. But from so many things I've observed around the lobby, distancing oneself from the scale is not a good sign. Last edited by peanutte; 02-11-2011 at 04:44 PM.. |

Just to affirm what Peanutte advises. I stayed morbidly obese throughout my life by NOT getting on the scale. I 'told myself' what my weight 'probably' was--and we never see ourselves as we actually look.
The scale was right there in my bathroom, but I never stepped on it. It's clearly a form of denial. Now I would never omit weighing for more than a week. It's too easy to get back into denial. Maintenance is not easy, but re-gaining is not an option for me. |

Thanks for the advice on the scale. I agree, I hate to "face the facts" of extra weight. One thing for sure I will never give up my low carb woe. The is the only time I have kept my weight (an additional 20 pounds) off for so long.
I used to weigh in once a month only but let #s get ahead of me for sure. Weighing in once a week give me a better handle on it even though I don't like facing the facts. Can I use this one? : I am another 10 years older 71 soon. I walk about 3.5 miles and also do an exercise workout of upper and lower body 6 days a week. Most important I feel and am healthy.
