From what I understand the body manufactures cholesterol from the saturated fats we eat, not the cholesterol that's in them. An egg has 1.5 grams saturated fat. In the U.S. it's recommended to keep the saturated fats below a certain amount, but now there's new thinking that says that saturated fats are not what cause heart disease. Extra sugar in the blood is the problem. Sometimes the keto plan causes the total cholesterol to be what the medical community currently considers too high. But if HDL cholesterol is high, that is good for heart health.

My point is that I'm not sure food cholesterol matters. Does anyone have links to studies that can help clear it up? I often remember many things I read, but can't recall which study it was pulled from.

Just completely forget the cholesterol levels you consume they are unimportant. Your body manufactures cholesterol as it needs it, you don't use the cholesterol you eat in the same way as you use that you manufacture. If you eat a black pudding (blood sausage for those of you not English) you don't expect the blood in it to begin circulating in your veins do you? no that would be silly.
You DIGEST the cholesterol you eat and MANUFACTURE the cholesterol in your cells and bloodstream.
And as to whether or not 'high cholesterol' is bad for you that's a whole nother story and not a simple one. It depends on the type of cholesterol molecules your are manufacturing and the level of triglycerates also circulating.

Ignore the cholesterol in your diet is my advice!

Yep, cholesterol is not something you need to worry about with your food. Eggs are a perfect food, so I figure they were made that way for a reason.

Floray, you explained it better than me. I think eggs are just perfect, too! Love 'em; eat 'em every day.

Your very own body is responsible for manufacturing 75-80% of cholesterol. We need it, that's why our body produces it.

Cholesterol will not hurt you. Eat all you want. It is actually healing to the body.

The lipid hypothesis has been debunked. There is a ton of reliable information out there. Just do a search.
