goal weight achieved!

Hi all,

I just had to share with someone - this morning I passed my goal of losing 20 pounds. It's been almost two months to the date, and this morning I weight in 194.2 pounds. I just spent the last few days travelling and was really worried about gaining since it was a challenge to find the right foods on the road. I actually dropped my last few pounds somewhere between Omaha and New York.

Next goal weight is 188... I'm not really sure where this ends, but I suppose I should start researching maintenance. Probably the greatest thing in all of this is that I lift heavy weights 6 days a week, and since I started all of my lifts have gone up, so I have gotten stronger and put on muscle while losing that fat.

Everyone asks me what I'm doing and they are all very interested, but every conversation ends with "I love my carbs" or "I love my bread" etc. I wish I could get people to understand how much BETTER you feel on this way of eating - it's not just the weight.

Anyway, sorry I was getting on my soapbox and about to preach to the choir!

Yay congrats

I hate to admit it, but I used to be one of those that said i couldn't give up my sour dough bread. It's amazing how easy it really is to give it up.

Good job!!! Now, don't go back there, between Omaha and New York. You don't want to find those lost pounds! As far as soap boxes go, you never know where you might plant a seed.

Thank you everyone. I had blood drawn earlier this week, and I'm really anxious to see if any of my metabolic markers have shifted. If so, I'm hooked for life!

My husband and I hear that all the time. People always tell us that they could not give up bread. One of my husband's co-workers told him that last year, and now he is starting to eat low carb high fat. He told my husband that he had been watching my husband and saw that he (my husband) has not gained his weight back. So that inspired him (co-worker).

This is great news.Congratulations I wish I could coerce my OH to join me
on the Keto WOE. I never seem to get out of the kitchen preparing two meals instead of one.

My wife started at the same time I did and she's doing great as well. We both gave up gluten and wheat about a year and a half ago together. I have to say it is considerably easier to do as a couple than it would be if it was just one of us.

I'll post my labs when I get them back!

That's fantastic!! Congratulations on reaching your goal!

I know what you mean about people being so resistant to the idea of giving up carbs. I mean... I love bread too, but that's not really the point, is it?? It's all about making healthy choices, and for today bread ain't it.

WTG!

I've learned to choose my words very carefully when talking about what/how I eat. And I only talk about it when asked. I'm pretty good at getting a positive response from most people. But no one ever thinks they could eat this way.

OK, first set of lab results are in and they are very interesting; they certainly go against "common wisdom".

Here are the results:

Date Total Chol Trigl HDL LDL
before ketosis 6/20/2014 155 229 26 46
2 months of ketosis 11/18/2014 179 164 33 33

Every single of one of these markers IMPROVED accept for total cholesterol, which is still excellent.

EDIT: I need to figure out how to do a table - sorry it's not readable.

WTG!!!

You should check cholesterol again when you have been weight stable for about 6 months. It would be good to see those trigs come down more and HDL go up (which may raise your total, too).
