What are you eating? I can easily eat a donut and be hungry in less than an hour. Just like before. My surgeon emphasizes low carb.

I eat low carb... Now gluten and dairy free too, of and egg free ... due to allergies / autoimmunity. After 4 years out things really changed appetite wise. It's not my diet, just like it isn't boredom. I actually had a more flexible diet at my lowest weight vs now. My body found a way to fight back.

I don't think I shared here yet that I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. My diet has become super frustrating. Here's a post I did in the celiac/gluten free boards:

Hello everyone. Don't know if you guys remember me or not. I had my surgery in May of 2012 I lost down to 192 and then I started easing into my old ways and regained after a couple years up to 230 but about 4 months ago I got serious and have lost it all and got down to 166 lbs. Everyone is telling me I don't need to lose anymore. My Mom even tells me I look sick. I don't think so. I would like to at least get to 159 so I won't be considered overweight by the charts, lol.

How's everyone been? I remember some of you. Its good to see you. Who of you has had skin removal surgery and did your insurances cover it?

Chrystee.... how are you doing after surgery?!?

I finally started getting back to higher protein levels, and have lost 2 pounds in 2 days. I've also curbed the evening snacking. It's so hard, but I really want to lose another 25 or even 30 pounds by the end of this year. My first mini goal is to lose 10 by March 16 (my 53rd birthday). I "think" I can do it... ~fingers crossed~

Hope everyone is doing well!

Glad everyone is doing well. I've gained about 15 pounds since February of this year; my inner child is having a rebellious meltdown because of dietary restriction. I'm 13 years out and just frustrated. Thought it would get easier over time, but I have issues with misuse of food and stress and remind myself after 40 years of abusing food, I'm still a newbie in the learning process. Had to have my band opened up completely 16 months ago due to heartburn; so I was terrified I'd gain all the weight back. So.....overall, I'm still vertical & ventilating, and plugging along, going forward. Sure brings reassurance that one is not alone in this battle! ❤️💃🏼👏🏼 Low carb IS the way of life!!

13 years is a lot longer than most of us last before we have a tantrum, so I still think you've done amazingly!

Is your band still unfilled?

15 pounds... again, a lot of WLS patients gain it all back, or half (anyway, a lot)... I am not at my lowest either so, again, good work!

You can do this!

Yes, the band is still unfilled. I'm going to see if I can't have it tightened a little bit,to assist me with portion sizes. I'm lousy with that as I clean my plate no matter what is on it. It's a habit and I have to be mindful. I just am angry and feeling sorry for myself because I CANT HAVE A SNICKERS DAMMIT! thanks for the encouragement

Hi ladies well I have lost some of my regain but still have more to go. Any one else
Who thinks EIM is OK. I am here to tell you most people cannot. Why would you need surgery in the first place ?.. to think you can go back to eating the same foods that got you fat before is just insanity , ..believe me I know. . This is supposed to be a new lifestyle not lose the weight so that we can go back to our old way of eating. . If you get to goal or even close to goal the negative self talk that goes on in your head if you have regain. Is just awful. Yes you can relose it but... I'm trying to spare those who are going to have the surgery or just have had it. Make up your mind it's hard to be fat ,and it's hard to eat healthy chose your hard. We are worth it!,

EIM not for me either!

I am the same Joyful - I think I would over do it if I tried to do EIM. That's how I got off track after the first time I did low carb and gained all my weight back. A friend of mine at work said it's all about framing the thought - saying to yourself "I CHOOSE not to eat that" as opposed to "I can't have that." Suddenly YOU are in control, no one is forcing you.

If someone chooses to eat something then it's not a cheat, or a mistake, or an excuse to blow off the whole day/week/month of clean eating. You did it, you own it, you move past it. I like that accountability and the ability to say I control myself and my choices. For me this means no EIM because I have a food addiction. I fully expect to stumble here and there (I am human!) but it will be the exception and not the rule.

Good discussion... As a perfectionist it's hard not to feel like if I eat something off-plan I might as well eat other stuff I feel like eating since that day is already "ruined" i.e. not perfect.

MARIPOSA ~~ I am that way too. It's very hard for me to eat off plan especially if it's close to the weekend . Oh well, I will just start new Monday , before I know it its weeks before I get a grip . My Birthday is coming soon . And my BFF wants to plan this big ta doo
I just flat out told her , if you love me you won't put theses obstacles in my way that will hinder me in my quest for health and fitness. Needless to say that stopped her dead in her tracks. I gave her what I could have on the menu . Of course she could have other things there for the rest of the crowd but, I wouldn't be eating anything than wasn't on my list. I didn't want cake ,but if she wanted to get mini cup cakes for the rest of the guest that would be fine.

Let's keep it going! I'm def gonna need to run questions past my buddies! Right now I'm still pureed and looking forward to soft foods but I'm also a little concerned. It's easy to stay in control when the options are so limited but I know I can't stay here forever otherwise I will crack due to boredom.

I've been checking out some great blogs so I feel prepared to have yummy food for when I am cleared but I will still need to be diligent. It is apparently very easy to NOT lose weight even after WLS if you don't watch your intake. I will never be able to just eat what I want no matter how much weight I lose - I'm not built that way.

I am turning 40 April 7th 2018 and I would love to get back to my low weight. I am on Atkins now and eating protein first like I was told after surgery. I think what I kept doing is splurging, gaining a couple pounds, going back to my usual way of eating... which is MAINTENANCE not weight loss, leveling off, repeat... do that enough times and you've built up quite a store of extra pounds again SO, I am now on a WEIGHT LOSS diet rather than my old maintenance diet. Duh, me!

Breakfast is usually extra strong chai tea with a splash of cream and about half cup of nut milk and sf vanilla syrup (Chai tea latte) the nut milk has 10g protein. Lunch is usually meat, cheese, lettuce salad... today though I will have mexican style pulled pork, cheese, sour cream and lettuce. Dinner varies but is basically protein... snacks are cheese or pork rinds.

Hey y'all what brand of sugar free chai latte is goodoing? . I know Bigelow has the tea bags bur, I thought you could buy it in a concentrate too.

Let's all remember ,first protein , no starchy vegetables. Then if you have room fruit. Like strawberries of course water and vitamins. We can do this ,cause I know we did it before so it's not an impossible dream say I'M possible.

I have Chai everyday. Here's how I do it: I heat 1/2 cup of fairlife milk in my mug in the microwave. I then drop in a tea bag (I like Stash brand, but Bigelow is good too). Add hot water and some sf Torani vanilla syrup. And yum. So each latte is 40 calories and 7 grams of protein. I always have some on hand. I'm pretty addicted to my chai latte, I bring the ingredients with me when I travel if I can.

Hello all, how is everyone doing?
I am still plugging along... 1972 Atkins-level low carb... which CAN be "fun"... yesterday for lunch I had a 1/2 pound of snow crab legs which is probably about 3 oz of actual meat according to some information I found. I was FULL! Thank for dinner I had another 1/2 pound.

expensive treat, but my husband and I were celebrating

I walk 1.2 miles to work, 1 mile at lunch, and 1.2 miles back home. The walks to and from work are with my purse, beverages and backpack. I'm going to try to go to the (free!) Zumba class at my apartment complex on Friday.

I work at one of those silicon valley companies that has all these perks. I get free lunch every day. I used to eat whatever looks not too crazy high carb at the regular line, but since starting Atkins level low carb, I mostly eat from the sprouts salad bar they also have daily. Oh man, don't get me wrong I love salads and I am so grateful. But 5 or 6 weeks in I can't take it anymore. Bringing my own tuna and cheese crackers. Here's my breakfast and lunch. That's matcha powder blended in a vanilla Atkins shake with a bit of cashew milk and cream. Not pictured is the pumpkin spice chai tea (hot) I'm almost done with. I also put a splash is cream and cashew milk in that.
