Love the flax OMM and the Oopsie Rolls.
I usually add flax and baking pwd to my Oopsie recipes.

I haven't used PP recently, been trying to focus on whole foods...but your recipe may cause me to revisit a purchase of PP.

Yeah, it's been whole foods around here too--60% raw most days. I think it's why these stand out to me--such a contrast. And I' m set in my ways enough now that they don't make me carb-crave. It's nice to have the best of all worlds, but still stay ketogenic...!

Success!

I made these tonight and I am thrilled! In my opinion, they surpass the commercially made buns I tried with almost the same carbs (2) because of texture and flavor. Whoot!

I made these yesterday but haven't tasted them yet. I'm making burgers today so the buns have been in the fridge overnight and I'll get to try them later. Here are the photos that I posted on my blog yesterday:

Eagerly awaiting your review of them Linda, but they look absolutely amazing!

I certainly didn't want to add yet another ingredient (unflavored whey powder) to my LC pantry, but being able to make these might be worth it.

Looks good--great idea on the foil baking cups! I always have these made and in the freezer for quick meals. Sometimes I only use 1/2 the amount of Protein powder, which makes them slightly eggier and different. I have also made them with sesame seeds, caraway seeds and poppy seeds, to vary things up...

Toddster, do you mind if I post your recipe on my website?

I just finished eating my burger. I went through five napkins but the bun survived to the last bite!

I'll post a photo of my burger after I've had a chance to edit them.

No, feel free to post away--this recipe is really the work of Dr. Atkins as well as several people here on the boards--all I really added was the flax meal...!

They really do hold well to grease and fats, don't they? Love that!

Thanks, Toddster. I think I'll leave off the thick slab of onion tomorrow when I have another burger. That made it too hard to get my mouth around it.

LOL LindaSue! That DOES look like a mouthful!

I'll have to try this. I've been getting a Carl's Jr. El Diablo 1/3 pound burger, low carb style, then bring it home and put it in a Flatout Foldit. I like having the bunch of lettuce, which they don't put on a "regular" ED burger.

This roll looks really good though and I bet that burger would be excellent on it!

I made these yesterday, and I LOVE them!! I didn't put sesame seeds on, because I didn't have any. They are very sturdy and filling. I thought they had a nice neutral flavor. I ate mine with a cheeseburger, but I am dying to try them with tuna or egg salad, or roast beef. I miss sandwiches so much!

I'll have to post pix when I get home today. They turned out beautifully! My muffin top pan is still fairly new and has a good nonstick coating. I did spray some nonstick spray in them anyway, though, and they slid right out. I know I'll be making these a lot.

I used some that I got in the bulk food department at HEB. I have no idea what the brand is. I don't use enough of it to invest in a big container of it.

Here's a picture of mine from the other day. I don't have any of them out of the pan, but they looked pretty good in the pan!

thank you for the yummy alternate!
The Xanthan seemed to make the yokes too thick for ease of folding into the whites... might try it without next time! Still good though...
love oopsies.

I didn't have a problem. In fact, the batter didn't deflate for me like it has done for every other version of revolution rolls that I've tried.

Very similar to my Sandwich Bun recipe post #11 this thread: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/sh...+Sandwich+Buns I found in my experiments, that it took some flax meal to keep them soft. When I used ALL whey protein, they were too dry and crumbly for me. My final experiment was mostly flax and just a tad of the whey protein powder gave me the best result.

Phooey. I think I wasn't patient enough and didn't get enough volume in the whites. No way I was able to fill six spots on a pan. Also didn't mix the batters thoroughly enough, the egg white only areas weren't as good. But I see the potential for my next batch!

I'm hoping my problem was I didn't let the whites get to room temperature. Going to try again tonight.

That shouldn't be the cause. I never bring mine to room temperature. One important thing is that you should never beat egg whites in a plastic bowl. Use either metal or glass.
