I upped my carbs also one day, not on purpose, I just got really hungry--gained a pound. Then I lost 2 pounds. I was surprised.

Hope it works for you.

I'm having a really tough time getting back on plan and into ketosis. Even with my usual trick of eating all the high fat, low carb food I want and like, I get derailed by the end of the day. It's got me so down today I could cry. Yeah, there are other things bringing me down too like changes to my job, lack of exercise (due to broken toe) and let down after lots of company last month. I guess it all is making it tough. What is it that makes some people flip the switch and just go full on and never look back? Whatever it is, I need some.

Completely agree! I've been off plan for weeks and it affects my mood as well. Its like a catch 22. Its so tough to keep away from the sugar (its like a drug) when its stressful but it makes stressful situations more difficult to deal with when eating all the junk.

I'm teaching summer school...its over on Wednesday. Back to eating right and healthy soon...I can't wait!

I'll see yall soon!

Had a power outage from 9PM Friday until 3PM Saturday due to a HORRIBLE storm. 80 to 100mph winds and even some tornadoes close by. Other than losing power, my kids and I didn't sustain any damages to our properties/persons. My oldest DD didn't lose her power so I spent the day there. She does NOT eat LC so I ate brunch out yesterday and did "fairly" well...just not "really" good. Had cereal that I got from my DD for dinner. NOT a good day. Back on the wagon today. Will have rotisserie chicken and "just like baked potatoes cauliflower casserole" for my OMAD today.

Thanks, Terri...I'm tryin'

Stan...Happy Father's Day!! I don't understand why your OMAD makes you feel like that. Maybe you are eating TOO much? Don't feel like you "must" get in a certain number of calories. Terri and I both have to keep our calories under 1000/day or we either don't lose OR we actually gain. Try eating less at your meal and see how that works. Just a suggestion. Good luck, my friend.

KUTGW everyone....See ya!!

Thanks Judy. (A LOT!)

I don't know neither. I just guessed 1500 calories was about right in the beginning of this journey, and I was having success and still had energy. OMAD makes sense (to me) and I'm having even better success with it. But choking down my 15K meal (which IS ABSOLUTELY GONNA HAVE A BIG SALAD IN THERE SOMEWHERE DANGIT![) is something I haven't quiiiite got figgered out.

Judy, you're sweet. And its good to see your progress of late! I'm "a pullin' for ya" like you all are pulling for me. Its pretty obvious and that's a good thing.

Nice bunch of folks here all around! Maybe our common "affliction" (and goals) makes for a place of belonging, and I'm glad y'all accept me. I'll try to not let you down.

Let's all finish this weekend strong!

I had a cheat meal on friday ONLY. ONE meal. I was good for the remainder of the weekend.

I'm still with the program though. I HATE being in the 240's. I spells FAILURE to me. I MUST do better! My mood is okay this morning though. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVEN'T HAD BAD CARBS SINCE FRIDAY.

Kit, hang on by your fingernails, girl! It will get better!

Stan, you are making it look so EASY. But I know you're working hard. Congrats on that level of success! Not too many people can do that!

Where's my belly love. I NEEEED some!

Monday, meh.

I can't believe I'm only up 3 pounds!

I had a GREAT time feasting with Family yesterday, so I plan to fast today....that is...if I can pull it off.

If I can, I'll feel like the splurge was worth it. It really was a pretty great Father's Day!

I think I can live a lot healthier going forward, still enjoying feasts on Holidays and family events. I've just got to plan around them better. Let's see how today goes.

I AM beginning to think about maintenance now, even though it's months away. Maintenance is where I've always struggled. (I think we all do....)

I. MUST. NOT. FAIL.

Have a GREAT week everyone!!

I had a fishing contest with my husband, and being the great wife I am, I allowed him to win, 7-5. And in the process, got burned to holy hell by the sun. Going to be moving slow for the next few days.

Happy Monday!

I've cut back on carbs further, although I still don't keep an exact count, and I have extended my IF to 19 or 20 hours with no evening snack except maybe 2 or 3 small squares of 85% DC.

I forgot to say The Queen's Pot Roast was really tasty!

To me, Pot Roast had to have Potatoes, Carrots, Onions, and Cabbage....cuz Me Mum done it that way.

This was just MEAT, butter, and seasonings, and I can NOT complain!

I didn't spend much time crunching the numbers though. I spent most of my energy performing mastication, digestion, and the associatied peristolsis* with the always disappointing excretion duties.

There was some bad things in the seasonings for sure, most notably Maltodextrin. And it was the first ingredient on one of the bags, but if I can verify the numbers were only 27 carbs total for about 4 large portions, I'll post the recipe.

We also got to visit with my oldest son's wife at their farm. And of course, their little one!! He stayed with my wife and I after Church, so his MaMa could mow, so we delivered him to "HIS house" about 5. It's pretty thoughtful that he allows his MaMa and DaDa to live there too. He's pretty thoughtful.

But just as we were about to head home, DaDa was headed up the dirt road, home from "the field". (That's how we say it. The Field. Duh.) So we got about another hour of family time. FUN!

They should finish wheat harvest today. There's only about 60 acres left, but one the combines sortof digested itself. So that's it for the season on that one. Whatever went through the feeder house, sounded like a WW2 Panzer Tank just before the sweating Germans inside were about to shed their mortal coil.

noun: peristalsis

the involuntary constriction and relaxation of the muscles of the intestine or another canal, creating wavelike movements that push the contents of the canal forward.

Heading back in to calmer waters after my carb up on Friday. The biggest thing I noticed from upping the carbs even by 75 gms or so for that one day was the inflammation that resulted from it that lasted the entire weekend.

So for me it was so not worth it. Have a good start to the week everyone!

Stan, I LOVE your stories! I often skim backwards and read the one about the guy from the wedding not recognizing you, but since I was skimming and reading bottom-up, I thought it was a post from one of the ladies saying that a guy she had gotten married to didn't recognize her!
I work in a building and a lady from one of the other offices keeps looking at me and kind of staring at my hips and midsection and finally commented that I've lost a lot. Someone from a different office made a similar comment the same day, so that was very nice.

Thanks, Stan...I agree....this is a wonderful bunch of people. Hopefully they (and you) will all be around for a long time. Isn't it amazing what ONE day off plan or even one meal can do? BUT when we get right back on plan the next day (or meal), the damage isn't permanent....so long as we don't let it derail us for days, weeks, or months.
Loved today's post. Sounds like a good time. Wheat harvest? What state do you live in, if you don't mind me asking? Or was it winter wheat? The roast sounds good. Please do post the recipe. I agree...roast beef should have potatoes, carrots, onions, and cabbage. We CAN have a small amount of onions and cabbage is pretty low-carb.

Terri...I feel your pain. ONE meal can do that to me too....especially if it is Chinese cuisine. Hang in there...we CAN do this.

Holly...Ouch!! Did you forget to use sunscreen? I burn SO quickly so I always remember if I'm going to be out very long AND I use an umbrella too sometimes. They are not just for rain.

Amylynn...I suffer joint inflammation/pain from eating too many carbs too. You are right....it is SO not worth it.

Congrats to all the losers....let's stay on plan this week.

Thank you so much Terri! I really need all the encouragement I can get right now.

Holly - So sorry about your sunburn but your post made me laugh. Funny! You also make this look easy.

Glad you had a good father's day Stan. Looking forward to seeing the pot roast recipe as well. Did you stay low carb and just eat a lot or did you eat carbs too? Just curious.

I forgot about one of the tools in my low-carb cabinet and that is meaty, cheesy, casseroles with veggies baked in - like zucchini lasagna or chicken, broccoli and cheese. I haven't been making these lately because hubby complains about the richness/fat content (he's not low-carb), but they really seem to help me out so he'll have to deal with it. Bought a bunch of ingredients grocery shopping yesterday and feeling hopeful. Just need to find the time and energy to get cooking.

We went shopping yesterday so I could get a dress for my nephew's wedding in July. I don't know what it is about the mirrors in my house but I seem to be in total denial until I see a photo of myself or get into a dressing room. Does anybody else have that problem (or did you before you lost a bunch of weight)? I should probably try on clothes at a store at least once a week to keep it real.

KUTGW Judy, Amy, Bloodhound, Susan, Bronwyn, Terri and Sammi!!!

Missing posts from Groovy, Curly and Tami. Hope you gals are doing well.

No no, Kit, I'm committed to low carb at this point in my life. I ate a LOT, and pretty much all day, but in no way was I high in carbs. Probably not even moderate, but I didn't count anything. Just had a diet Holiday, and not by accident. I had seconds on high fat cottage cheese and that's naughty, but otherwise, just too much quantity.

And ironically.....I never felt bloated. And this morning, as per usual....I feel like a million bucks.

I think of the misery I put myself through 85 pounds ago, and its simply humiliating. Why I did that to my borrowed body, if I was The Owner, I'd sure as Heaven want to find out.

P.S. I read where The Owner is a forgiving sort. Not at all like me.

I've wondered about how come only one steenking cheat day (no matter how deserved or rare it is) can gum up the works. But I'm having such success, I don't think anything will stop me now. There's so much at stake. I'm still OMAD+KETO as of today, likely leaning toward a more lenient feeding window going forward.

I so WISH ALL my friends here were having the kind of success I'm having. Wimmens have a harder time usually, not fair. You are the ones who deserve it, more than I do. I love this WOE!

We live smack dab in the center of Southern Kansas. My current (and only....) favorite Grandson graciously shares HIS digs with his mother and father, just across the State Line. ("Mine" "Mine" "Mine" are some of his bestest words. That and "NO!" And when he hollers "BahPa?" "BahPa?" from the next room, it melts my heart!!!!!! )

EDIT: Winter Wheat, yes. But as for the possible confusion, Winter Wheat is planted in the fall and grows over the Winter, ready for harvest in June in the lower midwest, usually. Earlier in Texas, much later through the Dakotas. I no longer farm, but my oldest son does, beside, and along with, my wife's brother.

I need to get back to work. I'm stalling.
