Miscarriage and hypthyroidism

Just had lunch with a dear friend who had her 9th miscarriage in 20 years. She has one adorable 2 year old.

She was telling me she thinks she has low thyroid. Tired, black circles under her eyes, etc. I gave her the name of my PA who gets thyroid/hormones.

Anyone experience this???

Hmm. I don't know of the connection although if it's too low, nothing works correctly.

Is she diabetic? High BG can cause those circles under the eye.

Hormones have to be wonky. PCOS, maybe?

Seems like after all the losses, doc would do some thorough testing.

Thanks, I am encouraging her to get her thyroid checked.

Seems most doctors do the whole panel, especially if symptoms are present.

She said one did in Texas, but she needed it but the next dr didn't think she did because they only tested the TSH. I gave her my Dr.s name cuz she is the on,y one who gets it. Hoping she goes.

Maybe the difference is I always see NP's. They are much more up to date and are most often women.

The group I'm involved with now got a new doc and the NP's couldn't take anymore patients. She has been a huge disappointment. The only thing the got right is the gyn referral.

If it wasn't for me getting copies of all the labs/tests, I wouldn't know any of the other problems that should be addressed.

This year I will request transfer to one of the NP's well in advance.

I can't believe it! Julie had her bloodwork done at the NP I suggested and will get the results on the 10th.

She just reported that the dr said she had low progesterone and low testosterone. Won't touch the testosterone until she is done with kids.
She is putting her on one form of progesterone now and when she gets pg, she will switch her to another kind. Her thyroid is iffy right now, but isn't going to supplement yet.

That's cool Carolyn. She'll probably have a whole house full of kid in a few years.

She is started back on progesterone, Jem. She is 42, so one more healthy baby would be a miracle.
