Atkins will be great for controlling insulin. You have done so well, Pina, with maintenance. Everyone posting here has!

I have realized, finally, that counting carbs is all I really need to lose weight and get to goal. Fats and proteins have never been an issue for me, other than maybe making sure I get enough protein. If I eat according to a structure I donít even need to count carbs....my structure is about how much I eat at each meal and snack. Iíve learned to recognize 15g of carb for lunch, dinner and snack and about 8g for breakfast when Iím most insulin resistant. Itís very freeing to get to this point. Thatís 53g per day. Mostly thatís veggies, nuts, a little fruit.

My plan for 2018 is to prove this is true for me.

Thanks girondet. I will need to count my macros and calories for at least a few months. Then, like you, I'll have an idea what my levels will be. I've decided on 1250 cals with 99g fats, 25g carbs and 65g protein to start with ... one can always increase upon that.

Your plan looks great Pina. I will be interested in hearing how you feel about it as time goes on. You and everyone on here have maintained so well for years. I am hoping to achieve that kind of stability myself, to remain in a tighter window, and not have to re-lose up to 15-20lbs again and again every few years.

Thanks again girondet. Hoping that my times in the LCHF camp will make the low carbs transition easier. I was concerned that eating too much saturated fat would be harmful, but not so apparently.
Consider today being my 'semi-start' day, in that it's my highest weight all year and the result of my Christmas splurge....127 lbs I'm feeling very uncomfortable to say the least. I need to stock up on 'Atkins happy' foods today.

Apologies to all here for using our weigh-in thread for my rant, but posting in the maintainers thread is where I feel best.

Thanks...My maintenance plan is somewhat the same, I'm doing OMAD 5 days a week and 3 of those days are low carb and then I have 2 days when I splurge

I joined up here last January after weighing in at my doctor's office and finding I was the heaviest I've ever been. I dropped from 153 to 124 by early May. Since then I have maintained around 127-128.

Keto is my way of life with 24 hours of IF.

My doc is thrilled because my glucose dropped from 110 to 80 in those first five months. Win, win!

Friday, Jan. 5th-----128lbs

122 for me. I switched over to following a Dukan regime as of yesterday. Atkins wasn't sitting well with me and I'd lost zilch in 2 weeks. Could be that I have no gall bladder and eating so much fat was uncomfortable. Dukan is low fat, low carb and worked well for me in the past.
I'm doing a daily report of my progress if you're interested.

Had a substantial uptick immediately after last week so altho' I'm cross, I should be pleased it's not more...Of course, I'm disappointed that my run of reducing for 2 weeks was abruptly ended and some of it is still with me. As ever, I'd feel better if I understood, why.
