WOE: Atkins Induction
Start Date: October 2, 2017
October 2, 2017 218 pounds
October 3, 2017 216.5 pounds
October 4, 2017 213.5 pounds
October 5, 2017 210.5 pounds

Thanks everyone for such a friendly welcome.
I am excited to be here and share this journey with all of you.
I love the honesty and transparency that I am reading.

I weighed in this morning and was surprised by how much the scale changed. I actually weighed 4 times to make sure it was not a mistake.
I think this must be a ton of water weight. I think it also might be evidence of how many carbs I ate on a daily basis.

Anyway, I would welcome any tips or advice in the future on my posts.
I know this is going to be a long journey but I believe it will be worth it.

And, I want to share a major NSV for me today. Tonight, I met my Bible Study group at my favorite Mexican restaurant. And, as I sat there watching them eat the chips, the queso and those warm tortillas I actually resisted!
I can promise you that was a first! I "split" a meal of chicken fajitas and again watched as they ate my favorite sopapillas with honey. YUM!

As I walked out of that place I felt so good! I knew if I could win the battle in that place than I might just make it.

Wishing you all a successful week! And, I would love some low carb snack ideas. I am currently following the rules for Atkins induction. But, I welcome all suggestions.

Good night!

Good morning! Major breakthrough at work, things are going to calm down and I'll have a little more time to myself, yay! Got the home gym half built, I have just been doing a couple steps every evening.

kind, you just keep going! Are you sticking with the one day on, one day off plan?

LJ, you're so close to the new decade.

kvs, wow! You're doing great. Are you new to LCHF?

and gg, AMAZING! And congrats on the NSV. YES, RESIST!

Once you've adjusted to LCHF you'll find you'll be a lot less interested in snacking, but it's always better (for me) to have a snack available especially when those awful people at work make TOAST)A couple of us like and subscribe to dietdoctor.com, there's lots of snack ideas on there. There's endless websites and facebook low carb cooking sites as well. My go-to snack that's easy is a couple of cheese sticks, and some salami slices in a plastic bag. Works for lunch as well. And I always have some boiled eggs in the fridge to make a quick egg salad on a lettuce leaf. Keep it simple at first!

Nope! Just texting with Michael The Terrible, wink wink. (His self esteem is so low, I need to massage it from time to time.) He's hit a new low!! And Terri I'm in for The Fast 48 again too, cuz it works! Let's get'er DONE!

And yeah, Ang, something is up with the site for me too. I'm using Firefox and everything has changed.

10/01/2017.. 198.4
10/02/2017.. 198.7
10/03/2017.. 197.9
10/04/2017.. 197.3
10/05/2017.. 199.0
10/06/2017.. 198.2

I probably shouldn't be excited about today's number, but I really broke out of my plan a little yesterday. I wanted to do my trip to the Gym in the fasted state, which I did....but it made my eating window so *&^$#! late... and I didn't hold back on calories. I s'pose it wasn't technically cheating, but I'm pretty "focused" (to be read HARDcore) and so it FELT exactly like I was cheating. Plus eating so late, never works out for me.

It was, in the end, 1580 calories, in 3 1/2 hours, 22 net carbs. But finishing @ 10:30pm is NOT the Wright Way To Weigh for this Former Blimp.

So.

GG! Build on those victories! They CAN help you through the stalls, and there will be stalls. Even our star, The Amazing HOLLY doesn't lose prezactly .5 pounds every single day, even though her average is right about in there.

You guys who are still doing the disappearing act can quit it anytime as far as I'm concerned. I can't think of a single reason to not post here EVERY day, if you're really serious about getting healthy.

Aaaaaaand....IF there's a hatchet to bury, let's bury it. No big deal!

Have a great Friday!

You're so right. In fact, watch in amazement as I gain a pound overnight:

10.1 231.7
10.2 230.6
10.3 229.1
10.4 228.0
10.5 227.3
10.6 228.4

No reason for it ... it's just water. And it literally doesn't bother me in the slightest because it will most likely be gone tomorrow. KCKO y'all.

Cindy. Iam doing fasting every other day{on off day 400-500 cals.
But today and Sat. I might just go ahead and do 2 day fasting.
I have to play with this and just see. But I know I will keep fasting as part of my life style. Plus I exercise and At some point like to get more into weight training.
I have been working on loseing weight and getting in shape since 2013 and have never turn back.
I think if you turn back on your self U only hurt yourself.
And As you age it gets harder. But u must go for it and just do it.
All diet plans work.{Only if you keep with it.
We fall at times and it gets rough at times. And scale is up and down and a hold. And when it does that>Find what is wrong and I think at least for me>Calaries and food choices make the diff.{Plus move that body.
I also think we need to which types of food choices. And know when u do have more or bad choices u better get on plan and maybe hit a little harder.
It has taken me years of being up and down in weight>And yes. More fat then not.
But April 1st.2013 I made a choice and changed.I was ashame how A nice looking girl and great body just let it go. And I thought In 2013>That My Mom might die{and if I had to go home. people would say of my god what happen to janet.
So
April 1st 2013 I got back home and my and health and weight was on a road to get it better and Ikept on and still on.
I at times Push hard and maybe to hard. But I have too.
I take No pills. Good health and ageing very well.{So far.
And I wont stop. I take 1 year at a time. and I look back and see were I was.So write your weight down each month and look. I walk 8 miles. Jogg. weightsMachines.
If I can u all can.
I think no matter how much we have to lose> We are all here and need surport. Even when and if u are close to goal weight.
Look>Stan changed and still working hard. and all the others here.
Now I'm not saying I wont fall. and I have . But just get back on road and go.
Only u can do it.
Each lb. is a great loss.
Scale is Not the all thing. How u feel, U have to love and like self. Let no one tell u{As I'm being told now. >Don;t lose any more.Fasting is bad
And Iam now wearing a small p. in tops and chothes. It feels great.
Im doing it and have. Hard work yes. and it will never be done.
Stan does it not feel great to see what u have done with self. and hard work yes? and at times we just hate it when we work so hard and scale gives lbs up .when we all want down. But In time and work it does go down.
You all can do it. Just time andwork. u are worth it. and your body will feel so much better and work for u to live a long life. and if andwe get sick at a time in life just think how much your body will be able to fix things. Our cells need healthier fats and veggies and good foods. At least that is what i think. we can have cake or some thing sweet but not often. make better choices.
Lets keep posting and being there for all.

Lead us not into temptation.... my father-in-law has requested that I make my mom's recipe for dressing for Thanksgiving. Should be interesting for me to try to make it without tasting, I will have to trust my kids to tell me when the spices are right! It will also be my first time flying solo, without my mom to call

NEW DECADE! WHOOP WHOOP!

Judy ... I need to make that alfredo recipe. I have a recipe pinned for some zero carb egg noodles made w/ egg and cream cheese .... your sauce could be just what it needs.

Ang ... you're around Houston right? Are things fairly back to normal there?

NuttyStan .... I see you sitting in onederland. You'd better be saving me a space!

Everybody else ... hola!!

I know I sound like a broken record, but I try coming here every day to read and post .. I always read (and cheer internally!!) but sometimes I forget to add my weight and then adult ADD sets in and I'm off somewhere else. But I'm always cheering you losers!

Here's my transformation tuesday pic if you care to check me out: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZyTUYOh...aconloseweight
WOW!!!! You look awesome! GREAT!

I'm retaining water. I'm definitely in ketosis. I'm completely on plan (except for this evening's dinner) I am tasting that metal ketosis taste for the past 2 days. Y'all know what I mean. I'll use a keto stick tomorrow to check. Last time I used a keto stick a few days ago there was a trace. I guess my foods are higher in salt? its never been an issue for me. Usually, I pee like a racehorse the first days of ketosis. It has been very very humid and I tend to retain water when its humid out. I've also been hot every day in my classroom. I'm on my feet ALL DAY LONG with this new style of teaching I'm doing (student-led its called) so maybe I'm just swelling? I hope this weekend I can see a difference. I plan to fast for much of tomorrow.

Open House was a great success! Kids are telling their parents that they "have fun" in my class and I'm "a lot of fun"! (and I teach math!) Very good to hear.

Holly, thanks for asking about our recovery. MY area is mostly back to normal. There are a few that are still displaced but the repairs are getting better. I'm in a suburb 30 miles SW of the city. The news is reporting there is still a lot of issues going on in the city. Some of the trash still hasn't been removed. Lots of lawsuits. Many high dollar homes that are never supposed to flood, flooded because they HAD to release water from the reservoir system that is supposed to protect the city from flooding. Back in the 40's when they created those reservoirs it was out in the country. Now, there are homes nearby. When the reservoir couldn't hold the water, they had to release some and many homes where flooded. Its a mess.
Charlotte I get you girl! I agree with Laura. If I cut back too much I also stop losing. If it continues it might be time to get some tests.
kvs - hi!
Stan, loved your sibling story. My brother used to pin me down.
gg- welcome and wow...you did GREAT resisting!

Fast48 IS in my future just not sure about this weekend. It is quite economical to Fast a whole weekend...

Guess What? The Chinese teachers are coming again! We get to be the host family for the foreign exchange program we have with Foshan, China. We host 2 teachers and kids host other kids. Its cool! They arrive on Tuesday.

Good evening everyone!

I have been wanting to get on here all day and post my numbers.
Practice makes perfect! But, a full work day and a 3 hour visit to the phone store delayed me. Ugh! 3 hours! But, I will get over it when my new phone arrives next week.

I am sorry about the double post last night. I am a newbie to the message board way of life. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to delete it and then I just gave up! Please feel free to advise me!

I love reading everyone's daily conversations among each other.
As soon as I get used to this forum I will try to respond to each comment individually.

I am happy to hear that the snack craving will decrease as time goes on.
This low carb plan is already starting to decrease my appetite.
And, I know there will be periods of stalling coming my way. But, I am sure going to enjoy the days the scale moves downward.

I am curious about the 48 fast that some of you are talking about. Can someone direct me to a link or some information about it?

I hope all of you in Canada have a nice Thanksgiving! This is my favorite time of year. Please share low carb recipes if you have them. I am planning to cook up a low carb feast next month.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend! I am planning some major house cleaning tomorrow. Don't be jealous.
I am cleaning out my closet and my dresser drawers and preparing for that new wardrobe I hope to need in about 6 months!

Just curious, for anyone doing a low carb plan or Atkins etc. how long did it take to lose 25 pounds? I am sure it is different for everyone but just looking for some feedback.

Good job everyone for continuing to work towards your goals!
Good night!

Well, replacing a few boards on my deck turned into pull half the deck up to replace a beam that was totally rotted. I'm glad we found it though because it was in really bad shape.

Unfortunately, that meant I ate late and hours outside my eating window, so that is probably why I went up a little bit yesterday. I didn't anything 'bad' just outside that window.

Doing some exercising this morning with my son... of my second amendment rights.

After we get done with that, we'll start putting the deck back together.

Hope your weekend is starting off great LC Peeps!

Just water loss. I started my Fast 48 a day earlier than usual.

GG, The Fast 48 is just being in a fasted state for 48 hours.

But I'm already a 20/4 Intermittent Faster anyways... KETO + 20/4 I.F.-ing is my usual WOE... I guess for several months now. But I've done some fasting in the past, before finding this place. So in my case, I would have just called it a one day fast prior to my involvement here.

For example: Fasting from Supper on Friday to Breakfast on Sunday. You didn't take any calories on Saturday, so that is a one day fast in my mind...at least back when I ate 3 meals and weighed waaay over 300 pounds.

But LOTS of us here are IF-ers. So that changes the equation somewhat. Dr. Jason Fung, MD has done a lot of practical work with fasting in his clinic, treating Type 2 diabetes. Read his stuff for more detail, but long story short, I've basically adopted his nomenclature on I.F. and most of us on the forum seem to have done the same.

Now for the short answer: The Fast 48 is simply waiting 48 hours before eating again. And you make the rules! Your Body, Your Way Of Eating, Your Rules, PERIOD.

Aaaaaaand..... you're gonna drop like a rock, followed by The Dreaded Bounce of the scale. I guarantee it. How much you'll bounce is wildly variable, depending on lots of factors that are mostly above my pay grade to 'splain.

You're doing great! Just be prepared for when it gets hard, 'cause it will!!

Good luck

Stan

gregsgirl ... I do one meal a day ... and that happened naturally and it took about 4 months of eating under 20 carbs a day. So .... IMHO, I would tell you not to force fasting and just do it when it feels right. (Also, I think Stan is a rock star for fasting like he does - honestly, I don't think I could personally do it.)

As for 25 pounds, it took me about 5 weeks BUT I was at a much higher starting weight than you.

I feel like I'm on a roller coaster. A small one for little kids. Nothing fancy or scary, just UP and down, UP and down.

Fast 48 started after lunch yesterday. I plan to do some heavy house cleaning to keep my mind occupied. Allowing a couple cups of the doctored coffee keeps me on track too. Other than that, tea and lots of water.

Happy Saturday!
