I've been posting from my phone. Hopefully today I can get things resolved. Been crazy busy at work....and I will REALLY try to check in here every day. Its just that the bar thrives in the summer and I have to promote EVERYTHING!
So.....how is everyone doing?

I had to laugh at your post yesterday. I was without power most of the day, so was reading your post on my phone.
Have a good day!

Ok....I have NOT fallen off the face of the earth....at least, not yet.
Been so busy with the bar. Getting the outside beer stations ready....on and on and on....

Any way....I think I might start a journal here on LCF'S.
If I do....I will post here first where to find me!

WOE: Counting carbs & calories
Start Date: May 1, 2015
Hi Carri, I'm starting tomorrow too! Since Easter, I've been on just about every diet and steadily losing, so I am convinced it's truly just calories in/out.

I've been on LC the past 6 weeks and feel deprived. Anyway, that's why I'm going to do carb cycling. I miss fruits! I don't eat much processed food anymore, so this WOE should work fine for me.

My goal is to find a WOE that I can stick with long term, as in forever, so I don't gain the weight right back. The big bonus is that it will show on the scale!

I think I'm gonna feel worse if I start on a low carb day ...wonder if it makes any big difference if I start on a high carb day ?

It looks like it's gonna take some meal planning and even daily planning with grocery lists and all but I'm gonna give it a shot ...the only thing that really worries me is the cheat day ...wondering if I can go back on after a whole day of cheat ? lol

I started today on a LC day. For some reason I ate TWO low carb tortillas and shouldn't have, so it turned out to be a medium-carb day. I won't do that again. Anyway, I could have started yesterday on cheat day, but I kept to my LC menu all day and stayed at 1200 calories too.

Tomorrow is a HC day, but only an increase of 300 calories. I plan on doing a fruity green smoothie for breakfast and one piece of Ezekiel bread for lunch. That should do it, calorie and carb wise.

Good luck tomorrow!

let me know how you like that ezekial bread ...I've never tried it ...I'm picky about food so if it tastes weird I won't touch it, haha

I'm getting my lists together ...I'm thinking about mostly having the same thing all week at work to keep things simple ...for breakfast I'm thinking about non fat plain greek yogurt with the 1/2 cup low fat granola he says we can have.
Now gotta figure out lunch and snacks ...if you have any ideas please share

Talk to you later

High carb day....it's been interesting. So on HC days, it is also low fat. I didn't realize how eliminating fat would affect calories....I have eaten SO MUCH today and I'm only at 870 calories so far and I need to finish around 1500 for the day (I haven't calculated dinner cals yet).

B: smoothie with 1 c unsweetened almond milk, 1 fresh peach, 2 c mixed salad greens, 1 scoop MRM whey powder. Coffee with sugar free vanilla creamer.

S1: light & fit greek yogurt & 1/2 c cherries

L: half sandwich on Ezekiel bread (I love it, my son doesn't like the "chewy" crust) with mustard, 2 slices of deli turkey, and sliced cucumber. Side of carrot sticks and an apple.

S2: another smoothie with unsweetened almond milk, 2T PB2, 1 T unsweetened Cocoa powder, 1 T whey powder and smart pop 100 cal popcorn.

D: TBD...but the plan is chicken breast, green beans, & 1/2 c brown rice.

I haven't had this many carbs in months. I'm afraid.

L: 2 c mixed greens, 1/4 c cucumber, 1/2 c grape tomatoes, 2 oz rotisserie chicken, 1 T blue cheese dressing, 2 T guacamole, 1/2 c baby carrots
S: 1 oz blanched almonds
D: Chicken breast with 2 T chive cream cheese, 1 c green beans
S: 1/2 c plain greek yogurt with stevia & lemon zest

Totals: 1266 cals, 43g net Carbs, 114g Protein, 65g fat

Okay now here is where I'm confused ...how I'm reading it is you can have one carb and one protein for breakfast on your low carb day ...but you are having a few things , so are you reading it as you can have what you want as long as it's low carb ? I want to make sure I'm doing it right ...thanks

You're doing such a good job ...I'm still trying to come up with my menu ...thinking about going and buying some Ezekial bread this weekend and trying it out ...now is it lower carb ? Or just a better for you bread ?

It's a little vague in the book, but I am trying to follow the meal formulas he listed, and remember that veggies and flavorings are free as long as you stick to the portion sizes listed.

The high carb meal formula is:
Carb + Protein + Veggies + flavoring

The low carb meal formula is:
Protein + Fat + Veggies + Flavoring

Where it gets confusing is the Low carb day breakfast....on my LC days, I am doing:
Carb + Protein + Fat + Veggies + Flavoring (although adding fat isn't talked about for the HC breakfast on LC days.....confusing!!!!)

So, on my low carb day, I had this for breakfast:
1 piece of Sara Lee light bread (carb) + 2 eggs (protein) + 1/8 c shredded cheddar (fat) + sriracha (flavoring). I never count my coffee with sugar free creamer except for calories, lol!!!

I don't know if the carbs are lower, but I like that there is NO flour in the recipe. Here are the details of the 7 grain:

Ingredients
Organic Sprouted Wheat, Filtered Water, Organic Sprouted Barley, Organic Sprouted Millet, Organic Malted Barley, Organic Sprouted Lentils, Organic Sprouted Soybeans, Organic Sprouted Spelt, Fresh Yeast, Organic Wheat Gluten, Sea Salt.

Carbs: 15g
Sugar: 0g
Fiber: 3g
Protein: 4g
Fat: .5g
