How's everyone doing toward the holidays? I know for those who celebrate this can be a more difficult time. Remember, even those pulses you do while standing in line for things count! Do not be discouraged!

Hi Jigglebusrer,

Unfortunately, I had a really bad setback. I caught another cold that turned into a really bad sinus infection. I was finally able to get on antibiotics after two weeks of feeling like I was on my deathbed (they make you wait FOREVER these days), so I'm hopeful I'll be back on track by next week.

Here's to a Happy and HEALTHY New Year for all of us!

The past week or so I had an ulcer flare up, but it didn't slow me down too much. Just took it easy on the stomach exercises and side bends.

I have been helping a client with the wonderful magic of Callanetics. With a little focussing, those tiny pulses are strengthening the muscles supporting her bladder. Good stuff!
Thanks for the encouragement. I've done 18 now, even with one tomorrow I won't have done 20 for Christmas () but I'm going to do the twentieth on 27th anyway. Got to keep focused.
I swear I've just got a bit fatter though! My weight hasn't changed, just my stomach has got a bit rounder??? I'm hoping its part of the process.

If I don't log in before - Merry Christmas everyone

Don't worry, that annoying rounding means that it is working! It sucks and plays tricks on your mind, but it means that your fat is redistributing. The fat is moving up from the lower body and down from the upper body.

I noticed the same thing around the first 20 as well.

Congrats on keeping up your practice during the holiday season! That is absolutely fantastic!

Belated Merry Christmas and a happy new year if I miss you all.

It's been crazy for me, with work, moving and getting ill. I've managed about 3-4 sessions since November. I have woken up earlier a few times and was about to begin a session - I even had it ready on my tablet, but I didn't feel well and skipped it. However, my body is coming back to normal. From Monday I think that I will be able to start up again. Properly, that is. I am determined to do it 5-6 times a week from the new year.

Sorry to hear you've been sick too, Fit4eva. This time of year can be SO challenging.

The important thing is we take care of ourselves and not get discouraged. This is a determined group of people and I know we'll all be back on track in 2016.

Well, I hope you are all feeling better and are able to reach your goals.

I was sitting there last night downloading my OS update when it occurred to me I had time to wait where I wouldn't be able to use my computer, so I stared doing my Callanetics.

It was great! I felt like I accomplished something that I wasn't planning on doing in that moment, and my body is much happier for it!

Merry Christmas!

Your stomach has gotten a bit rounder. But I bet if you measure just above your knees you will have seen a difference in measurements. Everything gets pushed up and down toward the centre, like a compression sac, and then evens out. This is the magic of Callanetics. Plus you're gaining muscle, so despite not losing weight you have most certainly lost some fat. Your peach is probably perkier too which makes jeans fit a bit tighter for a bit.

You'll see, your body will do this repeatedly, like it's sloughing off layers. Eventually, you'll look forward to it, along with the bubbly dents... the dents form down to the next layer and then the surrounding tissue slowly catches up. It's quite an interesting process, unlike any other I've experienced.

So keep on going! Given that you're not working one on one with Callan, herself, to point out everything you could adjust, it will take you a few more than 10 to see what's happening.

In the meantime, focus on how you feel! that is more telling than anything.

Happy pulsing!

P.S. My signature used to have all the fluctuations from the first year I returned to Callanetics, and there you could see some of the measurements increasing , then falling, then increasing and falling even more. It's working those small supportive muscles close to the bones, so it works very differently than those exercises that focus on the larger muscles.

I like how you snuck in a session!

@Everyone else
We've all done the best that we could in our circumstances. Our eye is still on the prize and we have gone with the curveballs that the holiday season throws at us, but stayed in the game. After all, as they say, those who are flexible will not e bent out of shape! We are already better off than we were a few weeks ago or at the beginning of last year, as even thought there might have been a gap between out sessions these last few weeks - we now have some muscle memory that we didn't have before! So, when we're bumped from the bandwagon, it is easier to hop back on!

You Won't Believe This...

I was "just" getting back into my normal life routine after having been ill for two and half weeks when my apartment burned to a crisp due to an electrical fire. <sigh>

Thankfully, I'M FINE, but there was SO much water & smoke damage I've had to start over with almost nothing. At least I managed to save my purse (ID, credit cards, car key, etc.), my riding boots & helmet, my mobile, my laptop and my workout DVD's. Funny how it takes a crisis to show you what your real priorities are!

Luckily, I have renter's insurance, which has been a Godsend. They have me in a hotel right now and they'll reimburse me for all the clothing & personal items I'm having to replace. I'll also be moving in with a friend while my place being rebuilt, so I'll be able save some money over the next few months. Who knows, my apartment may be even better than before when it's finally finished.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I can think of MUCH easier ways to obtain a new wardrobe and new carpeting.

So, I fell of the wagon somewhat but I am back and it was so inspiring to read all of your posts. I completed the AM/PM session (all at once) two days ago, the toning section from the Cardio Callanetics DVD yesterday and just the 20 minute maintenance routine from the book today. Wanted to get started on my New Year's resolutions early before I get drawn back into work stress and routines. Happy pulsing and Happy New Year everyone

Hey Gidget! So sorry your place burnt down, and so glad you're okay! A woman on another forum on a thread for decluttering made it realise how little she really needs. I'm glad you had insurance, though, that makes a big difference, and thank goodness you've got your DVD! What would have you done without Callan!?!

CosmicGirl, glad you're getting back to your routine!

Fit4eva, keep it up with that positive attitude!

Happy New Year everyone!!! Including you lurkers.

Sale On Callanetics DVDs

Hi, it's been a long, long time since I've posted anything, but I thought I'd tell you about a sale @ totalfitnessdvds.com. She has almost all the Callanetics workouts for $9.99. Free shipping for orders over $19.00. The sale is only good thru today, Jan 2. I've ordered from her before, and received my DVDs in a timely manner. I ordered Beginners Callanetics plus Quick Stomach, Hips and Legs. I was diagnosed by a neurologist last week with Parkinson's and I'm needing to stay active but gentle, so this is the way to go.

Hey happilady, welcome back!

Thanks for the info, I'm sure someone will find that handy.

Callanetics is perfect for what you need. Be as gentle as you need, do what you can do, each moment is different. Parkinsons.... I'm glad you're taking care of you!

I have done Cardio. I basically choose to do it when the weather is so difficult, that doing anything outside is near impossible, so not often. But when I do, I enjoy it. I found holding my arms out like that very challenging, and I laughed at myself as I learnt the routine and was oh so not graceful. Eventually, my strength grew, though, and I found my grace... I think.

I'd say try it, and do what you can. I believe CosmicGirl does the second half all the time, which is a short version of Evo pretty much.

Thank you Jigglebuster for you kind words and encouragement. My Beginner's Callanetics arrived today and I finished it just a couple of hours ago. VERY GOOD! I loved the various adaptations shown for the challenges faced by some exercisers. Was good to hear Callan's soft, soothing voice tell me it's quiet alright if I can't do the exercise as originally demonstrated; just do what I can do.

Her words are very healing. I restarted Callanetics at a time when I need emotional healing too, and gave myself that permission in regards to much of my life. She has taught me patience with myself in a way that I will forever be grateful.

Hahaha! Eager are we?

Welcome bitsnpieces!

I've had a busy start to my year and so have snuck in an exercise here and there. It all adds up!

Do you have any goals for the month? If you have any questions, feel free to ask, someone here will know the answer or at least be able to direct you to where you might find it.

Happy Pulsing!

I've done Beginner's Callanetics a couple of times since I last posted. It's wonderful for understanding the concept of "do what YOU can, don't force." I LOVE the alternative positions for getting the same work done! It really teaching me a lot about the Callanetics principles and how to relax more. I'm going to keep with it this month, hopefully 3/4 times a week.

It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.

I've had a slow beginning this week, i.e. I haven't done anything. However, in saying that, I've finished a few projects and so have made some emotional space to begin again. I'm at the later stages of perimenopause too, so my body is fluctuating all over the place. I'm trying to stay positive through it.
