Terrific New Gadget for Me- Bet Charski has one!

Don't know where this has been all my cooking life!

It's a Kuhn Rikon Swiss Pull Chop. It chops so easily it's ridiculous.
For about $25, it will transform your chopping life. And, no, I don't sell them or have anything to do with the company.

I cook mostly Italian, Indian, Asian, and Mexican dishes. You almost always start by chopping onion, garlic, ginger or peppers.
With a few pulls of this handy little gadget, it's done in seconds.
Wash bowl in dishwasher while top part is just cleaned off with a sponge.

Just posting this now while I think about it and our beloved site is still up.

This is one of the few gadgets I own that has truly earned its space in my kitchen. Even DH is impressed, which is saying a lot.

Hope this helps somebody.

LOL Ginny, no I don't have one - but you can bet I'll check into it!

Are you gonna migrate yourself over to the other forum? If so there is a perfect place there to talk about gadgets and stuff! Give it a look - and maybe post about this???

Since I have FOUR food processors ranging from 2 to 11 cups, I don't think I can justify one of these, but they sure are nifty.

Charski, I've already signed up there. Will take a bit of time for me to learn how to navigate a new site. I ain't no tech genius! LOL

Surprised our gadget girl doesn't have this little baby! And, Sharon, if I had four food processors, I wouldn't need another one either!

LOL. I have my 30 year old original cuisinart, and a bazillion disks and attachments for it. It was getting a bit long in the tooth, so I bought a smaller new cuisinart for daily use and retired the big one for times when I need one of those special disks or attachments. Then I found a little mini 2 cup cuisinart at our church rummage sale for 5 bucks, and bought it. Great for nuts and such. Then my husband bought me a new Braun stick blender when my old one died and it came with a food processor attachment, holds about 3 cups. I use them all!

Sharon, may I ask a personal question? Every time I see your posts I get homesick. I grew up in Phoenix and wonder what area you live in. Even though I have been living in the NW for 40 yrs now, I still miss “home” or at least the old Phoenix.

My daughter gave me this gadget for Christmas. I just keep forgetting to use it. Thanks for the reminder.

I don't have a dishwasher. Can it be washed in the sink?

My DH laughs at me because it seems that no matter what I'm making, I start out with chopped onion, celery and garlic. LOL

Well, DUH...whenever a recipe DOESN'T list these ingredients, I figure its a typo.

Oh, Ginny, I love my little "string trimmer", a small inexpensive model I got at Aldis, and have given several as gifts. I like it esp. for mincing onions, very small. And yes, I wash mine in the sink.

Plus, it's fun to use: when I pull the little stringed handle, I feel compelled to provide my own "lawnmower" soundtrack

I live out North near 19th Ave and Bell Rd. When we moved here in 1964 we were "way out north" but now we are practically downtown, it seems.

I keep little containers of pre-chopped onions and celery in the fridge. Make it up once a week or so. If I get a bunch on sale, I chop it and freeze it.
