Hi everyone,

Quick post for me today. First day back at work... still can't believe the holidays are over. I've been very diligent and on plan these past couple days so it's a little frustrating that the weight loss is going at a snails pace since I thought for sure I'd drop some water weight in the beginning. Hopefully I'll finally see those 140s tomorrow.

January Goal: 145

Jan 1 - 151.6
Jan 2 - 150.4
Jan 3 - 150.0

B - omelette with bacon and cheese, black coffee, SF energy drink
L - crustless pizza slice from Lou Malnati's
D - baked chicken thighs and veggies
S - SF jello squares

Just a quick check in. My cheat day didn't go as planned Monday, I ended up getting sick and after a trip to Urgent Care I was diagnosed with the flu. High fever, non stop coughing, body aches and I barely remember the last couple of days. I'm hoping to feel well enough tomorrow to be able to go to work.

welcome, TxTornado!. You have come to the right place! This is an active thread with an awesome group of Low carbers, who are happy to help and encourage at all phases of your journey - some new and some old ... I mean "experienced" - ha.

Hi, Pam - I know what you mean about following Whole30 "rules - I like the structure of a plan and I'm a rules-follower. That why I like intermittent fasting - eating before lunch is NOT AN OPTION! And the past few days I've had some dogsitting challenges, and have only had unsalted cashews from their stash of goodies. This is huge for me. Later in the month I have a whole week of dogsitting and I'm so thankful to have a victory under my belt.

Hi, everybody! Have an awesome day and stay strong as we enter the first weekend of the new year!

Good morning all,

This weather is making thing miserable. School got called off today so the kids are home. Hubby is still off on vacation, but working a bit at home. The meeting yesterday went pretty badly. I will be gone most of the day tomorrow at a court hearing so who know what I will do about food. I would bring nuts with me but I have been really watching what I eat and watching how my body react to different things and it looks like my body doesnt' like nuts. Oh well I will think of something to throw in my purse.

Welcome TxTornado -

Kelly - wow congrats on the 140's!!!!
Casey - good for you for holding out and eating only the cashews. Good luck with the next dog sitting.

Well trying to figure out what to make for dinner. This cold is making me want soups to help stay warm. So i think will make Bacon cauliflower chowder and have bake chicken thighs for a side. I do have leftover taco soup in the frig so that will be lunch.

it's one of those at home workout plan things... bikini body guide is what it's called. i think there's an app called sweat with kayla? expensive so i started with the PDF to see if i like it. basically it's circuit training, and right now doesn't need too much equipment. i don't know how to work out, so it seems like a good routine to follow. so far i like it!

1/1 - 164.9
1/2 - 163.4
1/3 - 161.4
1/4 - 160.9

today's menu:

B: coffee
L: bratwurst and sauerkraut
D: big salad?

tomorrow is grocery day and i've got my eye on chicken breast specials for 99 cents/lb! LOL simple joys.

enjoy your day ladies!!

Hey there everyone!! I’m new to LCF and brand new to Atkins ‘72. I’ve done low carb and keto before but got frustrated because I dropped the first 10 lbs then nothing else after being on it for a whole month or so. Anyway, I’m starting the ‘72 tomorrow with my daughter and my second oldest son. Very very excited to see what this diet will do for me!! I have about 65-70 lbs to lose , too many to count lol, but hopefully this will work!! I got the book on Tuesday and read a lot of it. Didn’t read the parts about how it works cause I’ve read it so many times (ugh!).

I’d love to have some accountability with those of you who are looking for the same thing!

Thanks for having me here!!

Good afternoon beauties

Late post for me today. We got snowed in and the girls are home so a busy unexpected morning.

KellyAwesome job. Look how quickly you made it to the 140s.

catr31 So sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. Hope you start to feel better soon.

BelindaCongrats on that awesome woosh. It is so funny to see what foods can help us lose weight while following this WOE. Enjoy your new workout plan and best of luck with it.

TxTornado this is truly a great place to come if you are looking for support and motivation. Feel free to post as often as you want and ask any questions. I can guarantee that at least one person can offer tips and advice on nearly any given topic. Seems you are fully prepared and committed so the best of luck to you.

CaseyHahaha, I agree we are not old but experienced. You are doing great not giving in to the snacks while dogsitting. Good job.

Nihold Great job and nice loss. Keep up the good work.

Pam I can so relate with this weather. We have snow again today and the kids are off. I wasn't prepared for a day of making breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. But oh well, we gotta do what we gotta do and unfortunately it is too cold and messy to go anywhere. Good luck tomorrow figuring out what to pack. My suggestions would be nuts, cheese and sausage but I'm not sure how much of that you can actually eat.

Jan Goal 165

Jan 1 169.2
Jan 2 167.8
Jan 3 167
Jan 4 168

Meal
B- coffee
L-skipped
D-shrimp and broccoli from Chinese store
S-fat bombs, coffee

I was expecting to see a gain today because of the Chinese food I had. I always seem to gain even when I only eat shrimp and broccoli due to the sauce. I only had about 2 bottles of water all day. I also did not eat breakfast or lunch so I know that had a lot to do with it. All in all yesterday was not a great day for me eating wise. I did check and I tested dark purple on my ketosticks so at least I did not knock myself out of ketosis.

I have leftovers for dinner today and I don't know want them to go to waste so I will be eating my shrimp and broccoli again. I will just make sure that I drink enough water.

I'm off to make the kiddos something to eat. Have a great day everyone and for those experiencing snow and cold water...stay warm.

Hi momx5! We are glad to have you here... this is an awesome group. You mentioned giving up in the past after losing the first 10lb and being on the plan about a month or so... many of us have experienced a stall after losing some initial weight, but trust that the losses do come! There is a such thing as the “infamous week 3 stall”. When I initially restarted low carb back in 2016, I too lost close to 10lb and then NOTHING for like a whole month despite being diligent. But I ended up losing another 20lb in the 3 months that followed that stall. That stall can be frustrating but it’s expected. That initial weight we lose so quickly is nearly all water. After that, as our fat cells start to shrink, they like to hold onto as much water as they can to maintain their volume. This is what causes the scale to hold steady, even though you might start noticing your clothes are getting looser! Trust me when I tell you that the losses do continue and even though the scale stalls for a bit, that doesn’t mean nothing good is happening! If this group has taught me anything, it’s that you really have to stick with it and the results will come. I hope we can help you navigate your plan and reach your goals!

Third day down. I am eating fine. Carbs have been in line. But I have had an upset stomach from starting Metformin the same day I started Induction. Not a good idea but I am committed. So I just haven't been eating much. I am sure my weight will be down. I only weigh every two weeks. I don't want to get discouraged by a bad scale reading. In the meantime, I do have a tape measure and am tracking that way every couple days.

Well it has been a long time since I have been on here . Lots of things have been going on .Since I was here last I have added about 15 to 20 lb. Now it is time to get it off . I am at 179. Need to drop a min of 15 . 20 would be better .I dont want to be an smaller then 159 because it shows in my face my age. Im 45 and you can see every road map across my face below 150s .I need the encouragement like never before. I used to be obsessed with losing the weight I had it upstairs if you know what I mean. Now I cant seem to keep going more then a week . I have lost over 80 lb before and only putting back 20 in the last 10 years I guess isnt to bad but I need to get this off . Hope yall dont mind me going you guys. Blessings !

Good morning ladies! Busy week and I have been working to get myself back in the groove after an off day Tuesday. I'm getting back into my workouts after the holidays. Monday was a strength workout, which tweaked my lower back. I took it easy Tuesday, and Wednesday took a 50M walk. Thursday was a 30M cardio/sculpt dvd. Today will be some cardio.

Eating has been very good the last two days. I'm finding my groove there too. The holidays really mess with your mojo and momentum for sure! I'm sorry to post and run. I will be gone during the weekend but will get back to personals next week. Sounds like everyone is coming along quite well. Kelly, congrats on getting back into the 140's!

1/1 - no scale
1/2 - 175.4

Hi everyone,

Well no loss for me today. But I've been sticking to plan. I started suffering from major keto flu symptoms last night, so along with my magnesium supplement, I drank a cup of beef broth made with a boullion cube (I read that this is a good way to replenish lost sodium and combat those keto flu symptoms). I suspect maybe the sodium might have stalled me, but it did help me feel better.

Thank you ladies so much for the warm welcoming!! It means a lot! So far so good for my first day. Kinda want to eat what the kids are eating but it’s not a big deal. My son is 13 and he’s doing great, my daughter is 15 and she accidently ate a pop tart before she realized it was diet start day! Lol!! Anyway. Had breakfast two slices of bacon. Not enough so I just had a snack of 4 pieces of sausage-yum I love it!! For lunch will be some romaine with some oil and vinegar and probably some more bacon. I use the keto diet app to track, its a great way to track all my foods and carbs. Hope everyone is having a great day today!!

Hello and welcome to our new friends! It’s been a busy cold week and I’m still struggling with cravings. Ugh! I’m home with my son today as the schools closed again due to the cold. I need to get back to my normal routine so I can get back on track! I hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi all! I was feeling the Keto flu bad so Iíve been drinking sugar free Powerade and bouillon and it really helps. People here at LCF told me about it and it helps a lot. Iím eating a lot of eggs right now and my hunger is pretty much under control so far. Iíve been down this road so many times before and never stuck with it, not since the very first time when I lost over 100 lbs. Keep me in your prayers everyone????!!!!

Good afternoon everyone

Mommyx5 and so glad to have you. I read the previous posts and you have received some wonderful info. This is definitely the place to be if you want to lose weight and get healthy by eating low carb. The good thing about this group is that we all are doing our own variations of low carb eating so if something isn't working for you there are other options available and tons of information about it on here. Best of luck to you and the kiddos.

Big Stevie Hope you are feeling better. I am a scale addict and admire anyone who doesn't weigh daily so good job. Also measuring is so important because it helps when you run into stalls to see that even though the scale isn't moving at least you are dropping inches.

tina0011 we are super happy to have you here. You will find that a few of us took a break and are now back more determined than ever to shed a few pounds. I am hoping to get to 150 and am currently 167ish so I have a ways to go. The good thing is that we all know this works as long as we are consistent. Best of luck to you. Stay positive and motivated.

Alene So happy that you are getting back into the swing of things. Sorry to hear that you hurt your back. Hope it is feeling better.

catr31 Happy to hear that you are feeling better

Kelly That keto flu sucks but at least it indicates that things are happening. I really dislike the keto breath but at least its a good sign. I wouldn't worry much about not seeing a loss just drink tons of water today and you should be back to losing tomorrow. At least you didn't end up with a gain like I did yesterday

Jan Goal 165

Jan 1 169.2
Jan 2 167.8
Jan 3 167
Jan 4 168
Jan 5 167.4

Menu
B- eggs, sausage, and eggs
L- shrimp and broccoli (leftovers)
D- fat bombs
S- coffee, cheese crisps

My schedule has been a little wacky these past 2 days. I usually get up around 7am but since the girls have had snow days we have been staying up super late and not getting up until 9ish. So breakfast is more like lunch and lunch is more like dinner. Hoping to get back into a normal routine by Monday. We leave for Disney on Tuesday the 16th and I am really hoping to be under 165. I know what I need to do to get there and just NEED TO DO IT... Wish me luck and someone send the whoosh fairy over to my house

Have a wonderful day and a great weekend.

Julie Yep, same here. This is the second day that the schools are closed and things are just all off of schedule. Hoping the temps cooperate next week so we can get back to our normal routine as well.

GayandGray That's great advice you were given and should be feeling better soon. Not sure how long you have been under the weather but I usually get the keto flu for about 2-3 days then magically feel amazing afterwards. Hang in there and stay focused. You already know this WOE works and you have come to the right place for motivation, tips and advice.

hi,everybody! and welcome to the new people! I think there's a common theme here that bears repeating - in order for this (or any other) way of eating to be successful, it has to be a lifestyle and not a diet. If you plan to reach a goal weight, then go back to eating what everyone else is eating, then you will gain the weight back. You are training your body to burn fat instead of carbs for fuel. So, if you eat off plan, your body burns the carbs first and stores the fat. Also keep in mind that it gets slower/harder to lose as we get older, and also based on how many times we've gained and lost.

Birthdays, holidays, vacations don't have to mean an automatic gain! Plan to make good choices, incorporate as much walking as possible and you won't end up with more weight to lose. My struggle is when I dogsit, staying at friends houses, where they have things that I don't keep around at my house. I always go in with a plan and rely on my low carb friends here!

Gayandgray - I have had the keto flu really bad the last two days too! I haven’t gotten the sugar free Powerade but that’s a great idea! I too am drinking boullion but it’s so good that I want more than one cup and am afraid i’ll overdo it on the sodium! How much do you have in a day? I’m also taking a magnesium supplement which helps as well!

I e been drinking 3 cups of bouillon daily and 2 bottles of the sf Powerade. Iím feeling pretty good now, which is good since I go back to work tomorrow. I only work on weekends, but 16 hrs on Saturday and 16 hrs on Sunday. I do all my meal prep on fridays usually, and Iíve got plenty of deviled eggs, chicken, pot roast, nuts, cheese, etc. Iím trying to eat more fat this time around and a bit less protein.

hi, gayandgray - good idea - increasing fat - looks like you've been doing your research! I put coconut oil in my coffee (and blend with immersion blender). It really helps. Also I got an instant pot in October and I've started making bone broth. I add salt and some butter to the broth and it's really satisfying. I tend to get leg cramps so I use Mortons light salt to get potassium.
