Hi Sk8termom! Welcome! This is a great group. I think you'll like it!

I was supposed to meet my brother and his kids at the new house today. They haven't seen it yet. But, one of them got sick. I may drive over tomorrow. The last I saw it was about a week ago and they were farther along than I expected considering how cold it's been. I think I'll be moving by March hopefully.

I found a new recipe that I'm going to try this weekend. Low carb cream of chicken soup with bacon and mushrooms. I have to get the ingredients later. I also have some recipes that use zoodles (zucchini noodles). I have a vegetable slicer attachment for my stand mixer which I thought would create spirals, but alas, I discovered this morning that it does not. Bummer!

thanks everyone for the welcome! I kind of had a bad low-carb lunch today. Yu-Hsiang Chicken when I went out to eat with my son who is returning to college tomorrow. At least I didnt eat any of the rice. Looks like about 350 calories, 19 g carbs and 5 g fiber. I guess it could have been worse, but I have to do better.

Two pounds gone in 1 day, gotta love being sick. NOT!

I need to go to the store but I'll con the old man in to it, I don't have the energy. I might even be nice and make him a list.

Weather is going to be freezing rain sometime around tomorrow morning. I may just play hookie!

well, today is P day.

I will have my leftover Chinese veggies with it. I with sear the steak on both sides, then put it in the oven at about 400 to 425 F for about 10 minutes. of course, when done, I will allow it to rest for 10 minutes or so. then I will sprinkle with fresh cracked pepper and minced garlic. and then, it will be YUMMO time about 6: 00 pm NYC time. Yesterday's net carb total was 7 grams; grams well spent. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

so, ff, i think you're toying with me now... :-)

chris, last january, i got a stomach virus for a few days and ithink i lost 5-7 lbs...feel better soon!

to say it is frigid, would be a gross understatement...i blame ff for this...he sent his prayers up to the ferenghi goddess of nebula storms for 6 straight months and she finally granted him his wish...

I agree, it could have been way worse sk8termom! I beat myself up sometimes too, but I'm trying to learn that life happens. We have to find a WOE that works for us and that will still allow us to live our lives too. I actually carb cycle on purpose because it helps me so maybe it'll work out in your favor. Let us know how it goes and we're so happy you joined us!

I bought a spiralizer yesterday and it was a blast to use! But it was difficult to clean. Totally worth it though! The pre-made veggie noodles in the store are expensive.

Only one more day in week 1 of this Blitz! I'm making soup today so that I have it to eat on this week.

Cabbage soup here if the old man brings everything home from the grocery. I'm glad he went, it took all I had to do the dishes.

Chance of freezing rain tonight/in the morning, I may play hookie

not intentionally, Tony.

I spent most of the day underneath Mr. Blankie. at about 3:00 pm, I went into the kitchen, took Mr. P out of the fridge to bring it to room temp. and then I saw IT. the roast chicken dinner I bought 2 days ago. one cannot keep poultry in the fridge for too long, so I heated it up, and enjoyed it. it is now 8:35 pm. I am not hungry. needless to say, Mr. P. is back in the lower shelf of the fridge. when I come back from Shoprite tomorrow, I will do it. Incidentally, yesterday, I put the ROCKY MOUNTAIN TUMBLER to the test. I made a scalding mug of herbal tea (mango/passionfruit flavor). I had my 1st sip at 12:18 pm, and the last sip at exactly 8m, which was not piping hot, but it WAS room temp. good enough for me. I may now give it my recommendation. I am envious of those who say they have lost the taste for sweets and starches. I have not. yet another reason to stay focused, and deny myself nothing outside of the parameters of my plan. it is still way too easy for me to slip into apostasy. oh, btw, Mr. P says "moo" to y'all. 17 degrees below zero yesterday! Spring can't get here too soon.

We had a nice breakfast at the Flamingo Diner with our sister in law from Georgia yesterday. Unfortunately she flies into Atlanta at 6pm tonight shortly before the College Football Playoff national championship between Georgia and Alabama ( roll tide y'all). My brother may have to get creative to detour around the traffic and get home to watch the game!

soup helps. also a small amount of potent potable...watch the carb count. I hope you are back in the saddle very soon. speaking of saddle, my steak is done. it is resting for 10 minutes, after which I will dig in. btw, I have declared today a TEN GRAM DAY! Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Today's Blitz XXII News:

30 felt like 80 in northern new england...

ff's porterhouse was released due to the statute of limitations...

chris is being especially affectionate toward the old man and he is getting suspicious that she is trying to give him the flu

bad timing: all of a sudden, the air conditioning seems to be working at the flamingo...

Tony, u are now the official anchor person of

BLITZ XXXII. but, to bring u an update, I still have 1/2 of Mr P. left. every mouthful was a revelation. I shall consume the remainder later. yesterday's net carb total was 8 grams. i'm gonna wallow around the house thru Thursday. I need to get to that BAKERY, the SHOPRITE, and I really need that terrycloth robe. all these places are at opposite ends of Bklyn. I will make 2 or 3 separate trips over the weekend. Tony, loved the blitz news! DH went for a check up the other day and his numbers were all in range which is good. The only food complaint I heard about the hospital food was the gravy on the meatloaf.lol

Vicki, tell us about your new job!

Chris hope you feel better today!

FF so happy you enjoyed the first half of your porterhouse steak!

Sorry about your friend sk8termom!

And sorry you have the flu Chris! It's everywhere this year!

I've lost the 3 lbs I gained during the week of Christmas and another half pound. I am experimenting a bit, but not far enough along to tell whether it's going to work long term. I've been logging everything I eat into an online tracker and recording my macro percentages. I also have a separate spreadsheet for recording and tracking progress. I am a researcher after all so why not experiment with myself?!

Hi Tony, glad to be back.
Chris, sorry you've been sick, but take that weight loss.
Sk8mom, nice to meet you and I am sorry about your friend.
Abi, 17 below..I don't miss that kind of weather. Hit mid 60s in my neck of GA today.
Artemis, that soup sounds delicious, would love the recipe.

So I made my first official week back on the wagon -9 lbs. My third week last time was a bad craving time, so just mentally preparing myself.
My stomach though, already feels so much better, which was the reason I started this in the first place.
Home front is about the same, little man grew 4.2 in in the last 6 months and tells me continually he is a genius. Not, sure about that. I mean t-shirt, underwear and camouflage boots were his wardrobe of choice for awhile.

with all the excitement regarding the steak,

I forgot I have eight 4 oz pork chops in the freezer, 2 per pack. I portioned them out when I got them home. I am going to defrost one pack a little later. I am getting quite hungry, and will have some tuna salad and chicharrones (pork rinds). that should keep me till din din. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Hi all, since we got ice overnight and some snow on top, I didn't go in to work today. I drive about half an hour aka 25 miles on a 2 lane road. We are also heading back into the deep freeze. Surprisingly, I walked outside after supper last night (40's) knowing what today was going to bring. It was nice to get some fresh air.

I am a MDS Coordinator for a nursing home. I am responsible for submitting codes for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, making sure that the resident's care plan matches the documentation so that the reimbursement is correct.

I have been on plan since I got slightly derailed over Xmas. I am needing to pack up clothes that are getting too loose . . . . again. This time, I hope I won't have to bring them back out.

Welcome sk8 sorry to hear about your friend.

Welcome back Lynn aka Rebecca aka Grace. LOL

Abs, glad to hear that hubby is on the mend.

ff and Tony, you guys and your steaks.

Artemis, I see that you have been back a while, great to see you.

i did a very risky experiment.

1st I took the pork chop packet out of the freezer. then, at dinner time, I ordered Chinese. nothing unusual about that. but, I have been watching episodes of "my 600 lb life".I needed to ascertain that I would not slide back into the old ways. I ordered some NOT ATKINS-ized vittles. I ordered the House Special Soup, and (I hope y'all are sitting down) an order of the shrimp and lobster sauce combo with pork fried rice, and an egg roll, plus 2 add'l egg rolls. some packs of the crunchy noodles, with extra packets of duck sauce. I could barely finish 1/2 of the combo platter. but I DID eat all 3 egg rolls. I put the remainder back in the bag, and walked it over to the incinerator room, and down the chute. much better than "down the hatch". what I found was that I really got very little enjoyment of the food itself. AND, I have no desire to repeat the experience with that food or any other off program food. I claim a victory. today's gram count was 1 gram owing to a scant Tablespoon of unsweetened apple sauce on my very well done roast chicken. oh, about 2 hours after yesterday's experiment, I treated myself to an 8 oz extra sharp cheddar cheese orgy. THAT I enjoyed exponentially over the other stuff. At least I now know that my behaviors have minimized the chances of recidivism and apostasy. Good for me, FF! Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Snow day for us so I will do what work I can do from home in my PJ's. One of my work buds yesterday said, "I don't mean to get into your personal business but are you losing weight?". I'm thinking, finally someone noticed! This is the second time around for me so I know it takes a lot to see a difference for me because I lose a little all over and gradually.

Lynn, way to go on the 9 lbs!

Vicki, hi! Good to see you too! Don't worry, you're not alone on getting off track during the holidays!

FF, I also like to watch 600 lb life and similar weight loss shows. I find it inspiring to see people overcome their obstacles. And I think finally society is becoming more aware that obesity is not just a food issue.

And now for coffee!
