Coconut Cream?

I've been trying to find coconut cream, not coconut milk, and can't find any locally. I'm wondering if any of you have tried the coconut cream from Netrition. There are 3 cans shown, one organic, but I'm afraid it may be milk not cream. Where do you all find coconut cream?

Whole Foods had something labeled coconut cream last I noticed.

I always thought it was just the thick part of the coconut milk in the can. If so, it will be in any can without stabilizers.

Trader Joe's sells it, or at least they DID - I have several cans in my pantry, not sure if I bought them with a purpose in mind or not but they've probably been in there at least a year.

I need to make that custard!

TJ's sells it and Target sells it--although it sells it in dessicated boxed form. You need to add however much liquid you would like. Very convenient as it is shelf stable.

Thanks Gina, Char and Ouiz. I don't have Whole Foods or Trader Joe's so no help there, but I will check Target.

Take your canned coconut milk (no guar gum , won't separate) put it in the fridge over night . It will separate , at the top of can is the cream, then use the water for smoothies etc . I use this for many foods. I can make ice cream , sour cream ,dips , whipped cream. It still has to separate in the carton. TJ's coconut milk doesn't separate now since they started with the guar gum . I have to use coconut milk because I'm allergic to dairy.

Thai kitchen will not separate . The organic one is the best. I have bought it from Wal-Mart because it was 22grams of fat. It's lovely. I also use it to make my yogurt and chocolate candy .

Yes, I did find it on Amazon, Char, I was just hoping I could find it locally. Rose, my Walmart doesn't have the coconut cream, they do have Thai Kitchen coconut milk. I'll check a couple more of the larger grocery stores, sometimes one carries something that the smaller stores don't. I just don't like the super stores, too many temptations!

Tweaker, let us know which brand on amazon you bought and how you like it.
If you buy one from target online, please, also give your opinion.
I'm in the same boat as you and mostly have to order anything special online.

Thanks!!

I checked Target today, no luck there. I also tried a natural foods store and didn't find any there either.

Rose - I have checked and rechecked the Asian aisles in the local stores. We don't have an Asian market but I did see a sign last week that said one is coming soon, don't know how soon but soon.

Ginny - if I do order I will report back, I don't like to order online unless I can get free shipping so I won't order just one or two items unless they qualify for prime. Some add-on items I save until I need other stuff. I am working on orders for Amazon and Netrition so I'll be doing something soon. Need to check prime day deals tonight and tomorrow.

I don't know anything about the other two kinds on Netrition but the LC Foods one is just regular coconut milk. I've used it, and it's very good, but it's not extra thick or anything.

Hi Tweaker Geek,

As LindaSue mentioned, the LC Foods Coconut Cream is good and very popular with Netrition customers. This is it http://www.netrition.com/lc_foods_coconut_cream.html

However, Netrition also recently stocked Let's Do Organic Heavy CoconutCream and it is flying off the shelves. This is it http://www.netrition.com/lets-do-org...nut-cream.html I, personally, used this one last weekend to make a whipped cream over fresh blueberries. Loved it!

Linda Sue - that's what I thought about that one, thanks.

Kathy - what would you say is the ratio of cream to liquid in the organic heavy coconut cream, mostly cream or liquid?

I chilled the can first and when I opened it, it was very very thick. I didn't have much liquid. The Let's Do Organic cream description says it is 30% Coconut Fat. I hope that helps.

My next order to Netrition will include Let's Do Organic, for sure!

Thanks for the tip, Kathy.

You're welcome! We put a tip on how to make the whipped cream on the Coconut Cream page. I followed those instructions. It really did make a great whipped coconut cream. I had some left over and it held its shape in the refrigerator for a few days. I put a few tablespoons into my smoothie this morning

I ordered Native Forest organic coconut cream on line. The cans are small, 5.4 fl. oz., and almost all cream, very thick and nice flavor. I wanted it for smoothies and am happy with it. I'll probably try Netrition's to compare on my next order, it will be awhile.

Thanks again to everyone who responded to my question.
