just reading all the posts and decided to put in my 2 cents for whatever it's worth! I have been maintaining for more than 2 years now. I attribute my sucess thus far solely on these posts. It makes me accountable to all of you. It makes me get on the sale every week and post my weight. It's the same reason Weight Watchers is so successful. I make myself eat clean a day before every weigh-in because I want to report a good number. It's kept me honest. I like how we've supported each other and shared ideas. There is no one way to lose weight. You have to discover what works for you. For me, carbs was a problem. It made me hungry all the time. I would eat reasonably during the week, but have 3 large portions of cavatelli on Sunday. Sugar caused cravings. Limiting these 2 have worked for me. I don't follow any particular plan but got stared on The Scarsdale Diet. I try to eat the Scarsdale way at least once per week. The rest of the days I eat plenty of protein and lots of fruit and vegetables. I love Fage Greek yogurt. On weekends I drink wine and eat popcorn popped in light olive oil, sprinkled with parmesan cheese, which is a huge treat. During the week I allow myself 1 South Beach snack bar. I like whipped chocolate almond. It has 100 calories and 6 grams of protein. It does have 14 grams of carbs though. You can find other bars with much less.

fischdeb, the conversation has been taken over to General Chit-Chat so feel free to cut and paste your post into that discussion.

121.0. It's disappointing, but within my range of 119-122. I'll keep an eye on it.

118.2 for two days in a row. Yes I would like to be under 118 but this is great considering the way I have been eating.

173, although I think most of this could be a direct result from my run last night and not properly hydrating after. Have a good weekend all.

Slipped up a pound to 179. I had a few beers last week so maybe that
was the reason.

Ron, isn't one pound well within normal fluctuations? I'm just curious how other people regard the scale--do you expect to stay at 178 all the time?

Peanutte,
I am not concerned with the one pound, but I'm new to maintainence
and this is the first time ever that I went back up. My weight loss has been linear.

One other time I went up a pound two days in a row from over indulging in beer, but I went on eggs and meat for three days and lost the two plus two
more.

I'm just learning

153 on the dot this morning, so back down from my high last week. Phew! Had a dangerous moment when out for dinner on Friday, but was good.

165.5 this morning, but I'm not happy because I've been on a roller coaster of eating too much on my UDs and then using low-calorie DDs to take care of the indulgences. I need to find a more balanced approach to maintenance.

It didn't help that I started strength training two weeks ago and found myself ravenous on those days.

Again, I'm determined to be as comfortable with my eating in maintenance as I was during the loss phase. I have to keep in mind that my loss phase was very, very long, so I had plenty of time to get used to it. The last two years on JUDDD were especially 'regular,' and disrupting that routine has been a problem.

So I'm going back to my regular JUDDD WOE, and then see how I can add slightly to maintain.

I hear you peanutte.

My weight was down yesterday. didn't weigh today. pray it stays down tomorrow. Not that I am eating in a way that one would lose weight. I so need to get back on track.

My son is going to have survive without cookies because I eat them if they are here. I am sure my husband and I eat more of them then my son does. He is gone more then he is here lately.

See you all tomorrow when I will face my weekly reality check.

Let the record show that I anticipate having lost half my TOM weight tomorrow and the other half next Friday ... I'm not one of those who loses it right afterward (sigh...)

Peanutte, -- all the more so for you because these are just bonus pounds!

117.2 which is right where I want to be. I am surprised that I have lost weight since the marathon but then again in the past I know my muscles hold on to a lot of fluid and waste right after the marathon.

My miles are way lower and I am eating the same so I need to be careful. I haven't done so well on the careful eating but need to do better.

Debbie, I hear you say this often, so is there some way we can help you come up with specific strategies to be more mindful? I don't like to hear you sounding disappointed in yourself.

I need to get back in control of the junk food eating. I have to stop buying it for home. That is my first strategy.

The thing is I can lose weight but I tend to gain it back. So far so good. I think if I weigh weekly and try real it in if I start to gain I will be fine. I need to do a low carb week or two to detox. I had this in mind for the last week but it didn't happen. I have trouble getting off my morning oatmeal and my PB and Js at work. Mostly because it is fastest way for me to eat. I need to do some cooking of meals to have on the go and when I need something quick. I guess I could use some ideas for that.

I guess I am just worried about gaining back the 9 pounds or so I gained last winter.

Not worried enough to stop eating the junk. I really don't mind eating carbs but if I do low carb for a period it will kind of detox me off the junky carbs.I feel calories are truly more important for me to watch as a whole then carbs.
