Thanks for the support, Peanutte! It's nice to know that someone understands my concern (which can seem petty to those who have never had that experience of weight gain via hormones

Little slow posting my weigh-in. Just been so busy. It has taken me 5 months to drop another pound. I can't believe I finally saw 107.8 on my scale for a change. Hope it sticks. Would like to drop 2.8 more pounds. Are we never happy with our weight?

120.4. I sure liked that 119.4 last week, but this is within my typical pattern. I can't always have a downward fluctuation fall conveniently on an official weigh-in Friday!

Looks like I'm finally on a roll down. Hope it lasts. Anyway, for the last couple of weeks I've been able to control my appetite a little and cutting calories by about 2-300 day. I guess I just needed to shake things up a bit. This Morning I weighed in at 105.4. I knew I had lost a little as a pair of pants that was tight on me are looser and I also wore my daughter's size 0, kakhi pants this week. Almost to my ultimate goal.

weight today is 118.2. I had a stomach flu and should have lost. I guess it is the usual premarathon gain. I have to be careful the next few weeks because I will be running less miles so need to eat less. I have to go to a wedding and travel next weekend so that will be hard. After Oct. 31 I will be on major cut back and totally junk free eating mode because my miles will be much lower. I will not gain the winter weight I always do. I have to stay on or below 118 and here I am up .2 from that.

I usually weigh on Saturday mornings (on JUDDD, one weighs after a 'down day'), but this morning I had a doctor's appointment and weighed at 163.
Here's what's weird. I had been at 162 a few weeks ago, and then for some reason shot up to 165 for a couple of weeks. One day (mid-week) the scale showed 166, and I began to freak out because I was eating on plan (although 165 is my 'goal,' my long-term goal is to very slowly get down to 155). I began to worry about my thyroid--perhaps I needed meds increase? (I know all about water fluctuations, but I always think the worst when the numbers go up!) This past week, I had two social events and ate more than I normally do in both calories and carbs. So this morning at the doctor's, I was prepared for about 170. When the scale showed 163, I was convinced that either his scale was wrong or mine was. But when I got home, I was also 163 on my own scale! How my body chooses to lose remains a mystery! |

151 this morning (should have been yesterday, but I forgot. The trouble with weighing first thing in the morning is my brain doesn't seem to start up until an hour after I get out of bed!)

I left Friday morning for the weekend without weighing, so weighed in Monday morning instead: 146.
It was a weekend of wedding festivities, which might have added to my weight through sheer increase of on-plan food volume, had I not been struck down mid-weekend with the stomach flu (you and me both, Debbie.) I think the wedding and flu cancelled each other out, so I'm holding steady. Not going to adjust my "official" weight up unless I stay at this weight two more weeks, because that's officially my whoosh zone (pre-TOM.) Despite being down for the count in the wee hours of Saturday morning, I rallied enough to watch my four year old be the sweetest flower girl ever that evening. ![]()

I have been weighing about 117-118 lately. I am not happy with that.I maintained at 115 for almost 3 years. I am not sure about this creeping weight. I have been adding more carbs so that is going to get cut back. I work out with the elliptical and run, I feel that I get a better workout running, but with the wind and cold weather coming I know I will be on the elliptical much more.. ugh. I have been really trying to watch my calories too as I feel if I go too high with them I gain..

I am not going to worry about my weight till after the marathon. I am trying to eat well but then eat things I shouldn't. I have a wedding this weekend and the marathon the next. Things will be busy and I am trying to get most of my work hours in since I don't get paid when I am off. I feel fine in my skin.My size 2s fit. I know I can't diet at this point so I will try to hold steady and then really focus on no junk and really clean eating after I recover from the Marathon some. We have a pasta dinner Friday and Saturday before. I am not worried about carbs. I need the calories for the race. I don't need to gorge myself. Then we have a banquet the day after the race so why even attempt to be good till the Tuesday after the marathon.

What a weird week. I was 123.4 three days in a row, which concerned me because I consider 122 to be my upper end of the range I want to stay in. Before I weighed this morning I took measurements, since I hadn't for a couple of months, and saw that actually I was smaller since August. So I knew whatever the scale said, I should take that into consideration. When I got on the scale, I thought maybe I'd see 122 or 122.5 today or something like that, and I was ready to accept it and move on.
119.4 again. Man, maintenance is showing me a LOT about these fluctuations. I didn't track them at all during weight loss; I only weighed once a week back then. I also didn't take my measurements back then. Definitely a helpful tool along with the scale. |

those fluctuations are why I gave up weighing so often.
I didn't weight today. I am not worrying about it till after the marathon because I have enough on my mind. I did try on clothes because I am going to a wedding in FL this weekend. My size 4s swim on me. Thankfully I have one pair of size 2 black pants, 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of pants that were a 6 that I had taken in when I was a 2 before. They all fit fine. My dress that I wore for my son's wedding still looks great. No tummy bulge. I guess the way I look and fit into my clothes is more important then the numbers at this time. I am going shopping today for a few things. I hate to invest in a ton of new clothes. I tend to gain weight over the winter. I will have to work extra hard and be accountable here weekly and see if it makes the difference this winter. I may get my size 4s taken in when I have time. Happy Friday!!!! |

I am lucky with the dress. It was on sale. It didn't need to be shortened. I can wear it twice. Oh and it still fits great!!!
What a crazy busy time for me yet I still eat and not always so great. I am sure I am stress eating. |

Peanutte-
I'm the Queen of water fluctuations, and that's why I still try to weigh only once a week. I'm weaker than you are, and so I tend to freak out over the higher numbers even when I know it's just temporary water. However, I also know never to skip a week. Getting on that scale is absolutely essential to maintenance for me. |

Leo, believe me when I tell you I was not happy with seeing that 123.4. But I just refused to get emotional about it; I knew that either it was some kind of water retention (I did just have my period) and thus no big deal, or it was real weight gain and would need to be undone. I mean, those are pretty much the two options, so I was prepared to deal with it, but super-happy to be surprised by what I saw this morning.

179 today. No excitement.
I seem to lose one pound every 7-10 days without altering my diet. I'll just see where it goes. BMI is 22.98, so that's something.

One of the best things taught me by my role models and successful maintainers is that we have to get used to a range of usual fluctuations. Recently I was talking to one of them about how I'd changed my Friday status from 119.4 to 120.4 last week, and she said something to the effect that she didn't even consider that a variation worth mentioning. Well, that may be the case, but I have committed to changing my stats on my Friday weigh-in dates just to keep myself updated and honest. I know it's not a big deal to go up or down a pound from day to day. But if my stats say I am 119.4, then to me, it matters to me whether or not I'm 119.4 or 120 or 121 on my weekly weigh-in.
I guess what it comes down to is that people will put their money where their mouth is or they won't. I learned from successful people. I paid attention to what they said. I owe them a lot. Speaking of which: where is Jenny--BloodSugar101--lately? Man, that is one woman who was never afraid to speak the truth and didn't toe the line. She is such an enormously valuable member of this community. Where has she been? Last edited by peanutte; 10-22-2010 at 07:25 PM.. |
