Sorry this thread seems to be defunct I would be happy to extend any help that I can your way.
I will say this .... Get it out of your head that you can eat the food that got you to your present weight. Even though it's in the smallest amounts. Your mind has to do a 360 in order for your weight to go and stay gone.... I know of what I speak ,regain is assured if you don't.

It's true this site has become very quiet. If you ask specific questions, I bet you'll get some answers. For general information, I would read the old threads. Lots of info archived here back when many of us posted frequently, sometimes daily, about our WLS journey. I wish you well on your journey to surgery. I had a sleeve 5 years ago and it has been a tremendous, life changing gift.

This! While I have not had regain, I have been stuck. In the beginning you can pretty much eat any foods you want and still lose. It's called the honeymoon phase. However if you keep eating that way, you won't keep losing. Learn the healthy way to eat and do it from the beginning. "Everything in moderation" is crap in my opinion. There are things that will derail you, bottom line. You have to change your relationship with food now. Good luck!

Oh, I skipped past the part where you said bypass. I was sleeved so I can eat quite a bit more things that your pouch might not tolerate from the beginning. The rest still applies.

Hello!

I am also getting a bypass at the end of August. It took a little over 6 months to get cleared since I had one doc that drug his feet. It's fine though - it gives me some more time to get ready. I am not waiting for the surgery - I have been easing into it by modifying my diet early. I didn't want to hit the 2 week pre surg liquid diet cold turkey! I spoke with a few people who have gotten the procedure and have been very successful and this worked for them. Also, as others have stated, you must be very careful to eat the proper foods. WLS is a tool and if you don't use it properly it will not produce the results you are looking for. We can do this!!!

I'm doing well! Almost 3 months out and my clothes are falling off. My doc warned me about the dreaded 3 month stall that hits many people so I am ready to have a bump but it will be all good.

Taking my vitamins and keeping my protein up. Hoping to get off some of my meds in a few months as I continue to lose weight and exercise more. Good luck with your approval process - I know it can be daunting but it is totally worth it!

Just wanted to put out a tactful note that not all of us are here because of those "certain foods" that got us to a certain weight that we now have to eliminate. I would venture that many long-time members of the board are aware of healthy eating and aren't taking on new habits after gorging ourselves on cake or whatever. Just putting that out there because it is rather frustrating (and sometimes hurtful) to hear people in real life assume things like that whereas a lot of us have been managing weight issues on a lifelong basis. Certainly if I knew that eliminating a certain food would solve my weight problems, I would do it!
