This year has flown by! Thankfully we are still having pretty nice weather...its 70 today. Had a nice bike ride and now I'm going to make some cream cheese dip for some jicama I found all cut into nice slices at Trader Joe's.

We are trying to figure out where and when we are going on our yearly winter travels this year. I'm looking for an Airbnb in soCal that's in a location we would like near the beach in addition to our other stops. I'm ready to go now!

It's been beautiful here today, thankfully no rain.
Yes, Christmas is coming along fast. I have just started shopping, a little here and there. I just don't "feel it" yet.

Christmas shopping

Looking forward to 10/20 when I walk out of my current job

Despite some really rough patches in 2015 this year has gone incredibly fast.

I'm really hopeful that my weight will come back to where I want it to be when the stress of this G-d awful job is behind me. Despite very strict rotation I'm losing the weight I gained unexpectedly, very slowly.

I know if I had been overeating it would have been pretty easy to lose it, but my eating was pretty tightly controlled so there wasn't a lot of room to lower things much when I returned to EOD.

Its pretty frustrating, but I'm trying to handle it was grace and calm...

Yes, I think 2 months is optimistic, but it's 2 months until December 1st
I'm cold just thinking about it.

It was rainy and cold today. Going to be more rain and colder tomorrow

I wouldn't mind some rainy and cold. It's unseasonably warm here and still very dry. We are starting to get some smoke rolling again in so I think the fires might be starting to flare up again.

It's in the sixties during the days here, forties at night. I am so not ready for winter. Went and bought a heated throw to snuggle under today. I'm already freezing. No way am I going to make it through another winter of snow and freezing weather.

Pamela I bought a heated foot warmer thing from bed bath and beyond several weeks ago.
I just took it out of the box to see how hot it would get, I was hoping for "heating pad from hell" but it's only warm BUT it's pretty big, so I put it over my head like a tent
DH laughs at me but I wanted to see if it would warm my head and shoulders
It made a kind of warm-ish tent

We FINALLY got a little rain last night. It could still cool off some to make me happy. It got humid as soon as it stopped raining.

JayLynn, I went to Santa Barbara and Ventura for the first time a couple of months ago. I LOVED it, and I already live at the beach so that's saying something.

I'm looking forward to snow only so the fires will finally go out. We lived among the fires from hell for a good part of the summer and I'm officially tired of it. I swear everything in our house smells like we just went camping with it.

Dottie that is so funny. The heated throw gets hot. I had to turn it down to low, got a bit too toasty under it on high. The dog figured it out fast. She jumped up on the couch and pushed her butt under it.

Frosty hope all the fires go out soon they have been horrible for a lot of folks this year, can't imagine the smell for all of you. That's a hard smell to get rid of too.

Thank you Jan, it was so lovely to meet 'in real life', next time maybe in South Deveon. We had such fun. It was as if we really knew each other, and in so many respects of course, we do. LCF, especially the JUDDD forum, is such a special place.

It's so awesome when JUDDD Buds get to meet.

I am loving the cold weather especially now that we turned the heat on last night. Hoodies and boots are so my thing.

After a trying week I intend to spend this rainy, cold day in bed. So I'm off to watch movies. Happy Weekend to everyone!

DW and I just got back home after moving the majority of the contents of my office out

I know the 20th will be here fast and I can't wait!

It is cold and damp outside. I'm so cold and this just a tiny taste of what is to come. I hope I love the new job so much that the winter flies by

I was so disgusted by her reply, and maybe I said some things I shouldn't have, but she has been in two long term relationships and has 5 children and 7 grandchildren, but she has moved as far away as she could possibly get (Kansas), was in a relationship with a woman for 16 years (which I have no problem with, of course, but she now says she is heterosexual), and yet judges me. I am just mad as hell. If Alex and I don't last, it will be my decision, but right now I just wanted some empathy, but I didn't get it.
I'm so sorry she wasn't supportive, Cindy! I guess the good news is that she thinks and will say that you are beautiful and smart. Which we all know is true! But it's so easy to judge people on the outside and not know even a little bit about what's going on on the inside.

I hope Alex's homecoming was great and he's doing well.

And then, shockingly, I couldn't get back on track. My low day Tuesday topped off at 762 and it was the most painful DD I'd experienced since probably my first month of JUDDD. Amazing how quickly your body readjusts to wanting, NEEDING sugar. I finally realized I needed to do a couple of medium days to get my head back in the game. They're helping a lot in terms of handling cravings.

That said, eating 1200-1400 calories a day reminds me why I never stuck to diets in the past... IT'S HARD AND UNSATISFYING (at least for me since I'm used to 2300 on UDs!)! Thank you, JUDDD for giving me hope!
Well, you deserve some celebrating for your upcoming wedding, but I totally get how easy it is to get off track, and especially with sugary, carby goodies.

Now Carly, you know I love you, but I'm going to have to ask you to stop talking like that! We're just now getting out of the triple digits, and I hope we can stay there for many months!

You guys asked about my water fast? I told about it step by step in my journal, if you really want the gory details. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/sh...1#post17346361. In a nutshell, I made it 41 hours with nothing but water. Felt pretty awful and abandoned it, but I felt proud that I abandoned not because I was hungry, or craving, or even thinking about food at all. But because I felt quite ill. I'm glad I tried it, and I'm sure my body got some healing out of it.

I may try another one someday, but probably not any time soon. Maybe a 1 day water fast, since that went extremely well. I also think my reaction to it another time might be different. Sort of like the first time I tried the potato hack I got real bad TMI stuff, and the next time I felt fantastic and lost really well. Maybe it'll be the same with water fasting.

Have a great weekend friends!

Time for all of you to come visit me in Hawaii! You will be warm, but not overly so. You definitely won't be cold! I really can't imagine living anywhere else now!

Meeting JUDDD BUDDD's is really special. We have so much in common.

Library Girl, I hope Alex's homecoming goes well. Sorry for all of the grief you have been through.

Carly, the days will hopefully fly by without too much angst!

Happy October everyone!

For many years, I've considered San Diego my ideal of somewhere to live because of the temperate climes and ready access to water bodies. There's always been a mental reservation that that is my choice because I've never visited the Spice Isles, Hawaii, or Bermuda. So, yes - a JB get-together in Hawaii would be an amazing research trip.

London has its compensations!

I'm off to bed. I've just finished making my final batch of blackcurrant freezer jam for the season and I've prepared bread dough for tomorrow's baking that needs to stand overnight (it's not wheat bread, it's based on oats but mostly nuts and seeds - it's Josie Baker's Adventure Bread from David Lebovitz's blog).

I'm still woefully behind on my chutneys and piccalilli (Pam Corbin aka 'Pam the Jam''s River Cottage recipe) but the Christmas cakes, Fig Cakes, Keep Cakes etc. are on schedule. Sometime this week, I need to make a few Paradise Cakes for Easter (they need approx. 6 months to mature).

Sounds like you made the right decision. 41 hours is definitely impressive! I've done a couple of full-fast days (with water & diet pop) and while they were okay, not that much different from a 400-cal day, I just felt kind of icky. So it didn't seem worth it. It's good to know where it's best to draw the line.

I get married two months from today!! Tonight my fiance made cinnamon rolls. Delicious, warm, gooey cinnamon rolls. Right in front of me. On my DD. I'll try to remember that he's usually not this cruel...

About a year or so ago, I did a water fast. I basically wanted to see how long I could go. The first two days weren't terribly bad (the second was better than the first) but about halfway through the third day, I massively hit a wall. Zero energy and felt shaky.

It takes about three days to fully deplete the glycogen in your liver (if it fully topped off) so that was probably it. I probably could have gotten through it but figured that was enough.
