TUESDAY’S ROLL CALL, DEC. 12

Happy Hanukkah to everyone who is celebrating!

It hit 78 degrees yesterday, I took my shoes off and reverted to flip flops, my Petunias looked as though they were reviving, lol. It’s unusual to us, but maybe not to “real” Texans.....we are not that.

Have a good night and see you in the morning.

Yes, Hanukah starts this evening for eight days. I will be lighting the candles each evening.
Thanks, Doris.
I must've missed what's wrong with Josh's hands. Sorry to hear he is not well.
Looking ahead at the weather forecasts, it looks like we'll be having cold nights but the days will be a bit warmer than they've been for the past few days.

Good morning.

I love being busy in my new home town. Some days this week are double booked! Ha. I love it.

I missed Josh's problem as well but I have t been around much. Good thoughts for him.

Going to a lunch today. I was chosen to take soup. It's a crock pot full. I hope it travels well. Or the car will smell like taco soup forever!

Have a mammogram scheduled for in the morning. Hope to drop by later.

Anne

Good morning,

Doris, I thought Josh had flu or something like that. What, exactly is wrong?

I am off to do my first shift at Holiday house. I sure hope Amazon delivers all the toys I ordered to donate before I leave or we will have to make a second trip north later!

Have a good one.

The problem with Josh’s hands is they hurt and he cannot grasp a lot of things at one time, which is why the post office let him go, he could not load the mail into cases fast enough, they even Time you with a stop watch. But, his feet also hurt, and this all is a residual side effect of the chemo he had last year against the testicular cancer, he had some kind of platinum chemo, and that is one of the known side effects. Thanks for asking.

Babette, I hope your toys arrive, but things these days are not delivered as quickly due to the holiday. Darn it!

Anne, glad you are so busy, no time to sit and ponder. Good thing you moved! Hope the test goes well this morning.

Julie, glad your days are not too uncomfortable. Do you get together with anyone during these 8 nights? How is your grandson getting along?

I’m still working on relatives mailing, only have one more left to go.

Wishing you well, friends.

Happy Hanuka!

Snow Day up here. It's like someone hit the pause button. So I can manage that.
Still falling, The plows have been by earlier and now there is lots more to move.
I am staying indoors and catching up with a little of this and that. You know how that goes.

Waving to All

Happy Hanukkah Julie. Love the traditions of lighting candles. What a special feast for you. Enjoy
I did a little research:

During Hanukkah, on each of the eight nights, a candle is lit in a special menorah (candelabra) called a 'hanukkiyah'. There is a special ninth candle called the 'shammash' or servant candle which is used to light the other candles. The shammash is often in the center of the other candles and has a higher position. On the first night one candle is lit, on the second night, two are lit until all are lit on the eighth and final night of the festival. Traditionally they are lit from left to right. A special blessing, thanking God, is said before or after lighting the candles and a special Jewish hymn is often sung. The menorah is put in the front window of houses so people passing can see the lights and remember the story of the rededication of theHoly Temple

Partying today, just a luncheon Christmas gathering with finger foods and some games.
I enjoyed the get together.

Susan you can have ALL the snow. Keep it there. You have nice equipment to get the job done. Nice to have a day to stay home and catch up on paper work and what ever else is on your schedule.

Anne happy to hear that you are settling in in your new home town. That sometimes takes a while. Hope the mammogram goes well with perfect results.

Doris I wonder how long those side effects will last? Does regular pain rx relieve the pain.

Beautiful weather here with sunshine but a strong wind.

Had my haircut this morning, then went to Post Office for stamps, and then paid water bill. While I was out I realized the distillery was making orange juice, it's that time of year. Love smelling it.
It was warmer today, mid 70s but cool tonight. Will be glad when this "front" gets gone.

I am going to hear the Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland tonight, it's their Christmas concert. So looking forward to it. Going with a girlfriend. They are doing music to celebrate Hanukkah also, I will think of both Julie and Babette. We have a few people in the Park who celebrate Hanukkah and they have their blue candles in their windows.

Hoping Josh is doing better Doris.

Anne, hoping the best for the Mammogram.

Loretta, I don't like wind, hope it dies down soon.

Susan, more snow? Are you the one sending these cold fronts down to Florida?

Ginny, how nice to smell oranges for free, lol. You are lucky to go to hear the holiday concert tonight. Our weather guru here says the cold began as an “Alberta Clipper”, working its way across America.

Loretta, nice to have a get together with adults and play games, etc.

Susan, I would love to stay inside and watch snow fall. As long as the power stayed on, anyway.

Josh’s hands won’t get better, they try to control it with pain meds. There is damage done, and when it gets worse, they may recommend disability .

Silas is here now, time for word play.

Thanks Loretta and Ginny. Loretta, that is a nice little article about Hannuka.
When my four children were little, they'd be anxiously waiting for the little toy they got after the candle lighting each night. That was 32 items to buy. Yikes! I hope they remember some of them. One of my sons loved the little toy soldiers and I remember him playing with them for many months all over the living room. He is the one that moved to Israel and actually became a soldier there and served during the Yom Kippur war in the early '70's. His two sons have served their mandatory times in the army there, too. Everyone serves, males and females. And that is my lecture for today...lol.

Julie, I used to wonder as to what was given to each child after the candle lighting. PBS used to have programs that showed the lighting and the songs. Of course, on tv they always show how Latkas are made.

Time to get dinner going, we had a cold, fretful kind of wind today. Bothers me more than mountain weather did.

Good evening.
