I've managed to gain back 36 lbs of the 56 lbs I lost in the last year

I'm so disgusted with myself. However in the last weeks I've managed to lose almost 9 lbs, just keeping on plan, and eating less. This is just so hard.. I'm now in my 60s and losing weight is so much harder than when I was younger. Fortunately I've discovered that eating less, including having dinners of broccoli with melted cheese or having fresh green peppers, seems to really help. I just hope I can continue losing.

hi, sk8ermom - I remember you! Good to see that you're back and on plan. Don't be disgusted with yourself... Life happens. But that's a good lesson that there's no going back to the previous lifestyle. I always wished I could just eat "normally" - what everyone else is eating, and now (after 17 years of maintenance in a five pound range), I realize that this is just how I eat now. The key is to find the (low carb) foods that you enjoy and don't focus on the high carb foods that are not good for your body - you know that carbs won't make you feel better in the long run. Good to have you back!

thank you Casey! It's good to be back. At least I caught myself before getting to my previous high weight.

i remember you as well Sk8termom.

u did one very smart thing. u came back to us. I am so glad u are back on track. don't beat yourself up. guilt is a very fattening emotion. many is the time I put back 100 lbs plus. dieting is not the answer. If u get bored with your food choices, you will put it back plus. eat anything u like, but tweak your choices within the plan u have chosen. my undoing has ALWAYS been TEMPTATION. I'm going to follow your example (working the plan, whatever it may be) ... this is exactly what I need to be doing. I'm on the JUDDD plan. I really, really need to stop the sugar!!!

It's such an important reminder that some of us, unfortunately, are not blessed to eat 'normally'. Definitely the right choice to come back onto the forum and get support. From what I can tell, the long-timer maintainers are the folk that have made the LC way their new normal. Definitely easier said than done, but I think that is the ultimate challenge for many of us, to find that unique path through the food jungle that will keep our system in check. Well done on the 9 lbs loss already, and for the timely U-turn. No need to feel disgusted, just look at it as a detour, a wrong turn on your journey, but now you are back on the main highway, and will soon be back to where you were and beyond.

Hey sk8termom! Glad to "see" you again. Guess what - you win - you STOPPED the insanity and you came back to this great spot for support - no need to beat yourself up, just move forward now and put the missteps behind you.

No one even KNOWS what "normal" eating is any more. Used to be "normal" would be what we aspire to on low carb - wholesome foods, as nonprocessed as possible, plenty of water to drink. Somehow "normal" now is processed crap at every turn, soft drinks, bad-for-you oils, fast food. THAT stuff does NOT fuel your body properly!

You are back on track.

Sk8termom....As the saying goes it's not the number of times you get knocked down that count but the number of times you get back up. You defiantly have it in you to give it the good fight. After all you are here aren't you? Give it everything you've got! You've got this.

I've fallen off track more times than I want to admit. Summer is a good time to get back on plan. Too hot to want to overeat.

Maintenance is its own set of challenges. Well Done to you for catching it before you had the typical rebound of highest weight + 5 lbs which is the usual pattern of regainers.

You know what you need to do and you're already doing what works for you. I'll follow your progress with interest.

I remember you, too! I have just recently made my way back to LCF and it's such a blessing. Facebook groups aren't anything like this. I don't why it took me so long to remember.

I am 57 now and find that losing is so much harder than it used to be, also. But I'm determined to stick with it. I'm glad you're back!
