Today we did a couple of small hikes to the Gold and Silver Falls in or near the Elliott State Forest. It was so pretty there. I've kept the calories and carbs pretty low so I hope to get back to my recent low or lower.

Hi girls, not sure if there are any men on this thread.. but hi to you too if that's the case.

I'm not sure I can do this again but at the same time I have to. So here I am having to more than ever. Isn't that how it always go though. I am at my heaviest and most saddest point yet. But I've had some medical issues over the past year that have me at a make or break point. The doctor is pushing for me to get recommended for gastric sleeve, but I have to get to see a general practitioner (was my gynaecologist recommending) and I live in a rural area where waiting for doctor seems to take forever. I don't want the surgery but understand it is in my best interest to get heathy through weight loss so I'm determined to get started on my own and see where in at as things go along.

Anyway.. hope it's okay to join in. I'm a stay at home mom living in a small town where I know barely anyone. My family and I moved here because of DH job and we're stuck until they say we can move elsewhere. I feel a little lost and need somewhere to keep me on the straight and narrow, somewhere I can be accountable.

It's 6 months until Christmas and I'm looking forward to not being so uncomfortable in my skin and maybe slipping into a cute new outfit and not being embarrassed at DHs Christmas party!

Start weight: 353 lbs. ekk!

Looking to just still be motivated and on plan by the end of the month.

At the moment, I DO seem to be the only male poster, but not always, and certainly it doesn't need to be that way. I feel quite at home. EVERYONE has been courteous and encouraging. Its a great place to be! (At least as long as your name isn't TOM! )

Bicycling is less horrendously torturous to my kester than it has been. Some fitment tweaks and a gel saddle cover, plus resting my tender toosh every other day has reduced my Naughty Word count to Single Figures.

I'm ready to really get after it this week...careful eating, biking--ALL of it.

I appreciate all bike the advice!

Let's ALL finish this month strong!

Hi Charlotte ... your start weight is close (but not as much) as mine was in January AND my doctor told me the only way I could lose weight was to have bariatric surgery as well. When she told me that, for whatever reason, it lit a fire under me ... and well, here I am! I started investigating keto (under 20 grams a carbs a day) and it has literally turned my life around. And I've tried every diet under the sun - I even lost about 70 lbs with Weight Watchers about 15 years ago. But truthfully, I was always starving and I ended up gaining all that back plus another 100 pounds. (Yikes!)

Keto has been a game changer for me. 1000%. I never wake up starving anymore, I don't have crazy cravings anymore - it's shocking on how well this as worked for me.

Anyway ... welcome! You can do this!

We have a GREAT bunch of gals too. VERY supportive and encouraging. If I didn't weigh every day....no matter whether I've been good, or not so good, I would be in much worse shape than I am. And I even went for a fast walk this morning after walking the kiddies up to the bus stop. Didn't go nearly as far as I though I would or could. But I worked up a sweat and did what I could so that is a win for me. I've done the low carb thing a few times before with great success so I know I'm good but in the past my kids were younger and I could get away with different meals for everyone but my DH doesn't think that sets a good example for the children so I'm a little concerned making one meal for all and ensuring I stead clear of the carb element of the meal. I'll see how it goes... might have to sneak most of my dinners before my DH gets home. He sadly works long hours most weekdays so I just might be okay.

Anyone a vegetarian? One of my 5yo is naturally leaning towards not eating meat and I'm curious about vegetarian low carbing. I normally lean heavy on yummy meat but as I said want to make meals for the whole family.

I'm so pleased to have found this place, Estrogen overload or not. You remember the comedy series CHEERS? I heard a sermon once that stuck with me....I forget where. The gist of it was that a healthy functioning Church Body oughta look a lot more like a CHEERS episode (minus the skirt chasing and over indulgence, granted...) and a lot less like a place where people come and just pretend to be Saints for an hour a week.

I had my 3 month check up for my Lisinopril BP script this morning. All was fine, but this clinic is SOOOOOO fully on board with Low Carb, I.F. and ending Insulin Resistance without meds, that I'm always just floored with the conversations we have. I was in with the DR's assistant for darned near an hour(!) just talking about Gary Taubes', Steven Phinney's and other cutting edge research. I'm taking her a Thumb Drive with a Ted Naiman Video to drop off at their office later, and I know they'll watch it.

Astonishing.

Probably should go get some actual work done.

Today I haven't had much of an appetite. My Keto stix have been blazing purple. I did an interval run in the neighborhood this morning with my DD. That last interval almost got me, but I hung in there.

I'm still fiddlin' around in the same general weight for a while now. My bike riding may be adding a bit of muscle, but I doubt it. It's too soon.

I had a huge salad with lots of goodies slathered with vinaigrette made with healthy oil, and a tiny bit of ranch dressing, no doubt made with genetically engineered FrankenFood. Oh, and a few olives, but that's it. I ate it way too late, but today I should be down, not up.

I was, however, able to wear 40 inch jeans yesterday, with my favorite IWB Holster comfortably. (Inside Waist Band)

Sometimes, I "Pocket Carry" but I'm getting smaller. And my.... um..... er.... "self-protection-lead-accelerator" AIN'T getting smaller--a problem I hadn't considered. I may have to re-think my hardware at some point

In April, 48 inch was comfortable at my son's wedding, and At Christmas 52 was tight. So a little stall now and then shouldn't discourage me.

I'm still doing OMAD + KETO, with a couple of extra fasting days thrown in per week. Bloating is better. I believe it's my 5th week, and methinks it's time to switch it up a little.
