Do you regularly take fish oil?

I take 2 1000 mg per day, one a.m. one p.m.

I usually order my supplements from Amazon (prime) and will order different brands according to reviews and price. I don't mind paying more if I know there is good reason for it = higher quality.

If you take fish oil/omega 3s what brand do you like? I'll stick to one brand if I think I'm getting a good quality fish oil.

Unfortunately, many of them are rancid from improper storage/shipping/sitting on shelves.
I'd suggest going to a local vitamin/supplements store and getting a cold liquid version. From what I've read, that's the best option for any oil based suppments.

I sometimes use the Costco brand (says one per day), but I have had to return a bottle or two in the past because they were rancid. I prefer and always buy the "Nature's Bounty Maximum Strength" from Costco when it's on sale. The mg on Fish Oil always confuses me, for example on the Nature's Bounty bottle, the label says, "1400 mg/980 mg of Omega-3". On the nutritional label in the back it says, "Provides 980mg of Total Omega-3 Fatty Acids comprising of: EPA 647 mg, DHA 253 mg" which only adds up to 900 mg. Confusing.

I get the Nature's Bounty as well. I store them in the fridge and have never gotten a rancid bottle.

Yes they smelled very very fishy and the capsules felt gummy.

The ones I returned were greasy and left an oily residue on my fingers in addition to having an odor.

Mine seemed to get kind of sticky in the fridge, so now I also store them in a cool cabinet and they've been fine.

I buy a particular brand once a year when the manufacturer (a private company) has a special on Omega 3. It's a big bottle of 750 gelcaps. I store them in a very cool cabinet and keep a small bottle of them in the kitchen.

I take 1.5 to 2 grams a day--not all at once.

I use the cod liver oil by Carlson. Must be refrigerated after opening. Lasts about 4 month with almost daily use.

Yes, I order online. I believe the local health food stores are more expensive.

I do not feel any difference from taking fish oil or the cod liver oil. The only supplement I felt a difference from was the liquid or powdered magnesium. I wonder if it is worth while to spend money on these extras that do not seem to make a noticeable difference.

I did notice better skin from evening primrose oil at first. Now I don't notice anything yet I keep taking it. Maybe things would be worse if I didn't take all this stuff?

Does anyone here take the MegaRed krill oil that is airing commercials for a while now? I have been curious if they are any better than the other ones I sometimes buy. (Just the ones at Wal-Mart).

My sister has an issue with high triglycerides. I remember she had a very good blood test after taking these, but she couldn't definitely attribute it to the krill oil because it was also one of the few times she was watching her diet. If you have testing coming up in a couple of months, it couldn't hurt to try it to see if it makes a difference.

Okay thanks Ronnie51! I get blood tests done around every three months so it should have time to show up if it is going to. Again thanks!

I took that one for a while, but switched to Costco's krill oil - haven't noticed a difference one way or the other.

One thing about the krill oil, I take it at lunchtime and haven't ever had "fish burps" from it like some of the other fish oil caps gave me. It's nice little capsules too, easy to swallow.

Consumer Reports had a pretty good article about krill vs. fish oil - I'm sure you can google it up. Krill oil seems to have some added benefits that fish oil doesn't have. Interesting reading.

I take a fish oil from Walmart, Nature Made. I have never had a problem with it. I've heard good things about Krill Oil, but it's so much more expensive and I don't know if it's really worth the extra cost. I'm going to try to find the Consumer Reports article.

I take Krill Oil and have taken it since 2012. The difference in Krill vs Fish oil is the Omega-3s in krill oils are identical to the lipids in the human cell membrane and therefore do not need to be converted like they do in the case of fish oil. There is a lot of info out there on the benefits of krill oil.

Sounds like Krill Oil is better so I am going to try it. Fish burps are horrible so anyway to get the benefits of fish oil without the burps is worth trying. Thanks everyone!
