Deb, thanks for the tip on freezing the pumpkin. I also froze the heavy cream. With those two ingredients frozen, there is no need for additional ice cubes.

I can't stress this enough, pre-freezing the ingredients makes all the difference! I never did like the ice chunks in ANY of these shakes made with regular ice, no matter how small the ice chips were.

This is very creamy, very smooth, and tastes EXACTLY like a slice of pumpkin pie.

Another great thing is that there is NO special protein powder in here! There are just a few simple ingredients that you probably all have laying around the kitchen.

About the raw egg, get over it (LOL). Believe me, no one on here could possibly be more disguisted about eating a raw egg in anything than I could be. Believe me, you will NEVER taste it, or even think about it once you taste how good this is!

This also makes a great quick and easy meal replacement, in addition to an after dinner treat.

Nutrition info and more tips below pics.

You can see from the pic how thick and creamy this is. Notice how the straw stands up, and how there are no little ice particles on top.

This is all you will need for the entire recipe! (pumpkin, cream, egg, spice, sweetener, and water) How simple is that???

Just combine all ingredients at once, and blend. Here is a pic of the frozen cream being added.

Here is a pic of the frozen pumpkin being added.

Add the water, mix, and enjoy!!!

Here is the nutritional info:

1/3 Cup Pumpkin.......................26 calories.......2.6 carbs.......(.3) fat.......1.3 protein
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream...............200 calories.......1.7 carbs.........22 fat......1.2 protein
1 egg......................................71 calories.......(.4) carbs..........5 fat.........6 protein
2 Teaspoons Sweetener Blend.......0 calories..........0 carbs..........0 fat.........0 protein
1/4 Teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice....0 calories..........0 carbs..........0 fat.........0 protein
1/2 Cup Water............................0 calories..........0 carbs..........0 fat.........0 protein
Totals....................................297 calories.......4.7 carbs.......27.3 fat.......8.5 protein

This shake is about 83% fat as is, so it would also work out great for you fat fasters, or anyone on Banta.

But, if you want a little more protein, simply throw in a scoop of your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder. If you want a little more fiber, add a Tablespoon of flax, you won't even notice it with the strong pumpkin flavor.

If this does NOT taste exactly like a pumpkin pie to you, try adding a little more pumpkin spice or a little more sweetener. You could also try a dash of cinnamon.

This is really quick, really easy, and really tasty!!!
Bumping again! tried it LOVE it!

I've been having this shake every day since I found the recipe a few weeks ago. I don't know if I'll enjoy it when the temps drop. So easy and delicious. I found little zip lock containers for freezing the pumpkin.

Looking forward to the fall foods too. Lots of soups.

Giving this a bump. I love this shake and since it's induction-friendly, I think I'll be rotating this baby into the lineup.

Off to check the pantry for pumpkin to freeze....

I like more protein in mine so I add protein powder in place of the egg, one scoop of vanilla.

Thank you for the inspiration!! I made one today and was thrilled with how filling they are!
I used vanilla whey protein powder, HWC, flax granules, canned pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and for my sweetener, I used Davinci pumpkin pie sugar free syrup. I used a bit of xanthan gum and ice. Next time I will freeze the pumpkin into cubes. GREAT idea. Thank you!!

The variation I've been eating lately: one cup of unsweetened almond milk, one-half cup of cottage cheese, and 3 cubes of frozen mashed pumpkin, with one-eighth cup of vanilla Da Vinci's syrup and a little cinnamon and nutmeg. 9 net g carbs, 16 g protein, 200 calories.

Hey for those of you that'd like to include egg but are concerned about salmonella ---- You can buy pasteurized eggs and most of the egg beater type products are pasteurized too. You can also pasteurize eggs at home. Google 'homemade pasteurized eggs'.

Finally made this and am drinking it right now. It does taste exactly like pumpkin pie! I added a little bit of cinnamon, but otherwise followed the recipe as stated. It's delicious!!

Bobo! How did you know that I'm a visual kinda gal! I'm going to buy everything tomorrow and go for it. So, the pic of the pumpkin....is that one of the ice cubes? Did you not use an ice cube tray but measuring spoon instead?

Also, what is the benefit to the raw egg both to the recipe and our bodies, if any?

Thanks!

Hi Marieze,

The egg gives the shake a creamier taste and texture, and also adds the protein.

Can't remember how I froze the pumpkin. Originally I think I froze it right in
the measuring cup, but I also remember having them pre-frozen and pulling
them out of a ziplock bag, not sure how they got there though :-(

Charski said that she used a ice cream scooper and put scoops of pumpkin
on wax paper sheets and froze them.

Hope this helps :-)

Delicious
made this but left out the egg and added sf almond milk instead of water.
To freeze the pumpkin i put it in ice cube tray - 2 cubes makes about 1/3 cup.
After they are frozen just dump out and put in ziploc then take out however many you want.
