8 lb pork shoulder

I found a smoking good deal today on pork shoulder, so I bought a big one. I want to follow the recipe I found here eons ago with chipotle peppers and salt, then crisp it a bit under the broiler for carnitas. But, how long should I do an 8 lber, at what temp, to get gorgeous falling apart pork? Google is Not my friend tonight.

8 lb. pork shoulder

Roast in a preheated 500 degree (F) oven for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees and roast for an additional 30 minutes per pound. Total cooking time for an 8lb roast should be about 4hrs and 20 minutes. Remove the pork roast from the oven and let rest for 30 minutes.Aug 6, 2012
