The cinnamon tea I find most often in the store is Bigelow brand. Admittedly it is not my favorite brand but will do in a pinch. Tazo makes a cinnamon tea also that I like better.

ETA: Celestial seasonings has a cinnamon apple spice tea that is caffeine free- which is better for evenings but the taste isn't quite the same. depends on your sensitivity to caffeine I think.

Thanks! I really, at some point, want to cut down on the amount of coffee I drink and keep trying to get into tea. It's a work in progress.

Carly,
Since I had a heart attack, I've cut down to 1 morning mug per day.

Went to a restaurant recently and had a delicious cup of tea. So good
I bought it at a local grocery store. It's Bigelow Orange and Spice and another
one that I like to mix it with before bed is Triple Leaf Tea "Relaxing"
You can look this up on Google.

These teas are helping me through the caffeine gap.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but got sidetracked trying to figure out if this recipe was already on the site or if it was okay to post a link or not. So I'm just gonna stick in the link to the site with the original recipe. I'm sure someone will hammer me if I screw up--and then I'll know for sure!

Anyway, I am addicted to baked egg white crackers. Easy to make (if you don't mind the fact that you have to clean the muffin tin), zero carbs and crazy few calories. I have them on DDs when I feel the need to par-tay with the dip.

She uses:
- 4 egg whites
- 1 tbsp water (to thin the egg whites) salt
- a small pinch of shredded cheese (for each cracker)

Preheat oven to 400. Spray a standard-sized muffin tin with nonstick spray. Add an equal amount of egg white to each muffin compartment? hole? Bake about 10 min or to whatever crispness you want (makes appx. 36 chips)

I use:
- half a cup of egg white from the carton (50 calories)
- dash of water.
- Italian seasonings + pepper + my favorite zero-sodium salt-sub
- A pinch of flax flour in each muffin cup.

I stirred in some Glucomannan to a recent batch with excellent results in terms of thickness/crispness. Lots of possibilities here if you like to tinker. Makes 24 crisps.

I'm dying to know what prompted you to try baby food?

It does seem like a good calorie bargain, but I'm having troubling getting past the baby food part...

I saw an ad for them in Sundays paper and looked them up lol

I also buy pumpkin in baby foods because of the size since I usually only need 2-3T for a mug muffin recipe

Adding another baby food product:
Little Duck Organics "tiny fruits".
Organic, freeze dried, no sugar added fruit snacks.
Each .75oz bag has 3 servings @ 1/4 cup each for 21 calories; 5g carbs; 1g fiber.

1T in yogurt or other "damp" foods adds a lot of flavor (1T = 5 cals; 1g carbs).
There are several flavors, I like the apple and mango ones

Hi Ouizoid. Glad you like them! They are a huge hit with Netrition customers and selling really well. It was actually a request / recommendation from a Netrition customer (I think she is also a LCF member) who told us about Smart Baking Company products.

If you haven't already done so, would you mind writing a customer review? www.netrition.com/smart-baking-smartbun.html

What are your DD staples???

Hello Everyone! I started packing on the pounds ever since I got married on April 30th so I'm back. I'm on week 3 of JUDDD and I'm loving it and noticed I'm starting to slim down again finally.

I love reading your posts and having this community as support.

I would like to hear what your DD staples consist of. I'm a Pescatarian (I don't eat meat but I eat fish) so I'm always looking for new, creative DD foods.
I'll share mine too!

Breakfast: 150 calorie oatmeal package, coffee with splenda
Lunch: light Progresso soup 150 calories
Dinner: super light salad or egg drop soup

So I've been trying variations on the egg white crackers I mentioned above. And I'm really to unveil my Flax Crax. Unlike the plain egg-white crackers, they crunch!

1/3 c egg beaters (regular or egg whites; I like regular): 50 cal
2 TBL flax meal: 60 cal
1 tsp ranch dressing mix (powder) for flavoring--or use what you like: 10 cal
3 - 5 TBL water (the more water, the more chip-like the cracker
Salt to taste

Put a tsp in each well of your muffin tin (grease with Pam). Bake 10 to 20 minutes till crisp. They practically fall out of the muffin tin. Makes 24 to 30 crackers. 120 cal for the batch. About 3 net carbs (!).

I had some yesterday with my homemade guac. Seriously yummy.

Those sound really good! Might need to get some flax meal...

I experimented a lot with flax seed variants when I lived overseas and was doing Atkins in the late 1990s. I found it pretty inedible due to the oily taste. Bought some flax meal this summer when I was doing VLC sprints, and found it much more palatable.*

But in the end it never has a good taste, and is at best tasteless. Hence the importance of Ranch Dressing mix. Taco powder is even better, but loaded with carbs, which sort of defeats the purpose. May try almond flour in small amounts next time. I do like to bake!

----

*Carbquik has fewer calories, but is much harder to work with (doesn't blend well), especially in something as small as a cracker).

I'm trying it with oat fiber. I had it in the house. Oat fiber has zero calories and zero carbs per Tbs, but they look like they are going to be light and fluffy, but maybe they will deflate as they cook...

They didn't make good crackers, but this could be used to make a zero carb, low calorie biscuit...

Divide the entire amount into 2 maybe 3 muffin slots/holes.

This is UP day and I'm so happy because we are going out for RIBS....hold the
sauce. I never get them and so looking forward to smacking my lips, hope
they are fallin' off da' bone as my mama used to say when I was a kid.

Had 4-5 cancers on my legs burned off again. Had formerly a Moh's surgery done
and there were still come live cancer cells. So I just kept thinking that this evening
I would be dining or something I really loved. Just grit your teeth and get it done.

See ya tomorrow.

I am not doing Judd, but love the Judd threads, and you have just helped me tremendously. I have some pumpkin recipes I want to try, but know a whole can of pumpkin would be wasted in my house. Baby food, genius!!
BTW, the best carrot cake I ever had was made with baby food carrots. But I didn't get the recipe.

Thanks for sharing: these are wonderful! I've made several batches, w/ some variations and they are really crisp like a potato chip, and a nice mild flavor. I load 'em up with salsa...wow!

My current tweak is that I use 1 T. flax seed meal, and 1 T. oat fiber, 3 T. water, and 1 rounded tsp. of parmesan cheese (green can). I cook them at 350 for about 15 minutes.

I tried baking some in a silicon muffin pan, but they were less crisp.

I just had one of the new Quest Beyond Cereal Protein Bars. They are 110 calories, and in my opinion more filling than a regular Quest Bar, which has more calories.

The Cereal Bar was pretty tough, though, but I'd imagine you can put it in the microwave for a few seconds and make it softer.

I had the Cinnamon Roll flavor and it was pretty tasty. I was unusually hungry at 1pm and grabbed this while on my lunch time walk. Well worth giving a try if you like Quest bars.

carly--I love the waffle flavor! So mapley! You must have gotten an old one, because they are not generally "tough"--And I agree with how filling they are. I can't have more than one a day because some sweetener in them upsets my tummy--but I do love them. My DH adores the chocolate ones, I do not like that flavor at all, but everyone is different!

I will try the waffle next. I was torn between the Cinnamon Roll and the Waffle Flavor. Good to know that they normally aren't that hard to chew.

Trying to remember how to mark my place while reading. Great ideas but dangerous browsing for a DD.
