Crave: Why You Binge Eat and How to Stop
Crave: Why You Binge Eat and How to Stop
by Cynthia M. Bulik, Ph.D. This book is an easy-to-read look at the binge eating disorder. She explains the different reasons and mindsets associated with bingeing, and she has some good advice - such as, if you are a late in the day binge eater (like me), eat breakfast so that your internal eating schedule is not registering dinner time as 9:30pm, if it needs to be 6:30pm. also, no-brainers like "don't reward yourself with food" and "don't go crazy on the weekends." she had some strategies for facing a buffet: walk around it without a plate to pick out the things you want, then get a place and only get those things and you can only make one trip. I do not remember her discussing anything about low-carb in particular. Maybe the best thing about this book is that I felt a lot less alone and 'damaged' for being a binge-eater. |
