They're trying to kill us all...

If you haven't heard of Codex Alimentarious yet, I suggest you find out.

They want GMOs in all of our foods, they want irradiation of all of our food, they want rBGH in ALL of our milk, they are trying to get rid of organic farming.
It is set to go in effect December 31, 2009. But we CAN do something about this!

To find out more watch this video (it has 5 parts) I almost cried...

You can also listen to this interview with Dr. Laibow.
Codex is Coming The End of Nutrients w/ Dr. Rima Laibow 6/10/2009 - UndergroundWellness on Blog Talk Radio

I became aware of this last year, and decided at that point it was mandatory for me to start growing our own food, and save our seeds from year to year. I now have 4 gardens, a small orchard, blueberry bushes, strawberries, and raspberries. It's taken a lot of money, and a huge learning curve I'm still in. When we depend on someone outside of ourselves to provide for us, we give our power away.

You might also want to check out Monsanto, and RoundUp.
When I first became aware of this stuff, I suppose I became a bit like "chicken little". Soon I calmed down enough to realize I have the power to do something about my own family's food security.
Not only did I decide to invest money in plants and trees, learn about heirloom varieties and learn how to save seeds, I also decided to invest in canning supplies.
Much can be said about learning how to forage for wild edibles, but it is best to have someone go out in the field with you who knows what they are doing. Everyone should know about wild berries and their seasons and locations in their area. It's fun for the kids, too.
The sad part is that my grandparents knew all this stuff, and their knowledge left with them. I am on my own to learn all of this that could have been just as easily passed down to me. I am overwhelmed, yet appreciate the availability, of all the books I need to read. I"ll be passing what I learn on to my children, and teach them why it is so valuable to know so it does not get lost again. I believe in a college education, but I also believe all practical skills are just as important. I don't advocate going to college to fit in with corporate America and all the consumerism. I advocate the knowledge needed to take care of oneself, and be empowered enough to use it.
