Need Some New Low Carb Recipes?

I just saw that George Stella has a new cookbook. It's called "George Stella's Good Carb Family Cookbook". Maybe we can get some new recipes to try from it. Just thought I'd pass the information along in case anyone was interested.

Hi! I am looking at the new cookbook right this minute. Must say, it is well worth the purchase! Full color pictures, and the book is oversized with a large font and very easy on the eyes. The recipes? What can I say?

Stuffed Meatloaf Minis
Moc Ham and Cheese casserole
Country fried steak and gravy
wilted spinach salad with walnuts and apples
seven layer salad
blueberry pan bread
pizza stuffed zucchini bites...

that's just a few!

Can't wait to get home and get to cooking!

If you buy this cookbook, you will not be dissapointed! I made the Moc Ham and Cheese casserole last night and it was to die for!!! I went to bed dreaming of leftovers! LOL!!

I hope tonight to make the Steak Dinah (George spelled it wrong in the book, he put Steak Diane!! Silly Boy!! LOL) but I'm making it with Chicken breast, for a Chicken Marsalle. (sp?)

can't wait to try the apple pancakes this weekend. what a treat!

And here's a hint.... I have all of George's books, and they are a fixture on my kitchen counter. I take them to Kinko's and have them spiral bound, which makes it SO easy to be able to lay the book flat without screwing up all the binding and pages. I used to use a Book holder type thing, but that sucked. This is worth the money, especially when I use the book practically daily. Just a thought!

HUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

OH And HI Christina!!! You are looking GREAT girlfriend! Love your avitar! How's your munchkin doing?

Got my book yesterday and I will spend some time during my lunch tagging recipes.

There are some recipes with soy flour or soy milk
For soy milk he says you can use 1/2 n 1/2 instead

Some recipes for soy flour he has a replacement flour, like whole wheat.

I just started going throught this, but there don't seem to be as may "soy" ingredients as his last books

I love simple recipes with flavor....can I find that in this book or are the recipes mostly using lots and lots of ingredients mixed together like casseroles and such? Is there a section on grilled meats?

There are some recipes with more ingredients than I use (but I am on cooking 101 level) but these are also everyday ingredients.

There are 10 meat recipes, then you have poultry and seafood as well

Some of the meats are
- blackened pork chops
- steak diane
- kansas city dry rub ribs
- Gorgonzola beef tenderloin

I really don't see many casserole type dishes... I do have the Ham Mock Mac and Cheese Casserole tagged to try next week.

low glycemic recipes cookbook in the works!

I went to lowglycemicrecipes.net and they totally stress healthy eating habits. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack recipes. And they’re always adding new ones. They list carb amount, calories, fat, fiber content, Glycemic Index (GI), Glyco Load (GL). I haven’t seen any other sites that offer the GI and GL together in their recipes. Good site if you’re looking for new ideas and good info.

I heard they are compiling a cookbook of low glycemic recipes pretty soon, which has me excited!
