Sue Grafton, the Alphabet ones "A is for Alibi" etc. They're all the way up to T now. Good books.

She's about the only mystery author I read. Michael Palmer is really good too, but he's more into medical thrillers.

Do you prefer true crime/murder mystery or fiction?

I love both kinds. For fiction, I'd recommend the mysteries by P.D. James, Elizabeth George and Dominick Dunne.

As for non-fiction, currently I'm reading 'And The Sea Will Tell' by Vincent Bugliosi. It's very good.

Read Lindsay Davis and Donna Leon - both write wonderful mystery/detective novels and both are prolific authors so you won't run out any time soon.

I second Elizabeth George. She's an American writer who writes English mysteries, go figure.

I also like David Morrell a whole lot ~ I suppose he'd be considered more espionage than mystery though.

Recently I have returned to the 'Sister Fidelma' series by Peter Tremayne
(It's similar to the Ellis Peters - 'Brother Cadfael' - series)

The Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series by Robert Crais

The Alex McKnight series by Steve Hamilton

Fun stuff: in some of the newer Elvis Cole books, Elvis comments about the cop who lives next door. That cop is Harry Bosch, who in turn mentions the private detective who lives next door to him in some of his newer books.
