Barry Groves, Natural Health & Weight Loss

I noticed some people refer to Barry Groves in a thread regarding fiber. And I've also seen references to Eat Fat, Get Thin. I've done both Atkins and South Beach, but I seem to lean more towards the lower saturated fat version.

To be honest, I thought it was ludicrous to consider a diet that advises:

Carbs: 10 - 15% of calories
Protein: 15 - 25% of calories
Fat: 60 - 70% of calories!

However I believe in researching something from all angles before deciding how I feel about it (and I have an insatiable curiosity) so I bought the book, Natural Health & Weight Loss, by Barry Groves. I also visited his website.

I've just started reading it, and I find myself agreeing with a lot of his concepts. However, I've not yet fully covered the whole "eat fat" thing just yet (I remain skeptical, but open-minded). Most of us have been taught that saturated fat clogs the arteries etc. But we were also told that eggs raise your cholesterol, which we now know not to be true... so, large amounts of fat is healthy?

I'm curious about how many others have read any of his books and how do you feel about his principles?

WOE: Eat Fat, Get Thin...Atkins 72!
Start Date: March 2008 Restart
I haven't read the books but I follow the EFGT principles from the EFGT challenge.... I like it better than Atkins so far, although they are similiar, been about a month. I, too, am skeptical about fat but I eat it and try not to think about it...the more fat the more energy I have... If I try to do it without the fat, my energy diminishes... I like the fact that he reduces protein and increases fat, as well as the fact that my carbs are higher than
Atkins induction levels! I really need to order the book, have been meaning to just haven't gotten around to it!

Thank you for the response. I've been reading through the book and it is very fascinating. I do indeed recommend it. I've also heard SO much about Good Calories, Bad Calories that I finally broke down and bought that one too. It has not yet arrived.

Best wishes on your weight loss journey!
