Yep. After running exclusively for over 1.5 years (25 to 30 mpw unless I was training) I just last week wised up to this and went back to the gym and started strength training again. Monday-Wednesday-Friday FBWO...today my arms are feeling like jello...

Strength training has been wonderful for me. Even though I'm morbidly obese and out of shape, I started strength training combined with a healthy diet and my scale is moving and my clothes are getting baggy.

For anyone older or out of shape who doesn't know where to start or thinks they are too old to start, the CDC has a great way to get started strength training. I know we can't post links but I think we can leave bread crumb trails...
search for: CDC strength training for older adults, its a PDF file and its a great way to get started.

I need to get back into it, badly... I've slacked off on everything except Taekwondo. I have to get off my ass and start running and working out again. I've got an extra 10 pounds that will NOT come off and dieting alone is not getting it done. *sigh* Someone kick me, please!

There are many exercise tapes/DVD's - The FIRM, or Tae Bo can build up some muscles... Cathe Friedrich has a Gym Styles selection that is awesome (they leave my arms/body feeling like jello!)

A great site that shows you HOW to lift with good form ... whether it's at home or the gym... ExRx Exercise & Muscle Dir

I wouldn't be at the stage I'm at without lifting weights. My favorite is M/W/F - weights, T/H/S - run/walks
