I need something new for breakfast...i am sick of eggs!!
I am trying to drop the last 15 pounds and am sick of eggs but still want to be low carb. I have considered eating a low sugar cereal for breakfast, it has carbs but at least it's in the am and i have all day to burn it off. Any suggestions on other breakfast foods?

I have 1/2 c of strawberries with cream or half and half and splenda. I also have a couple of sausage links or patties. Of course you can't eat strawberries during induction, but you said you're at the last 15 lbs., so I assume you're past induction. I'm doing OWL with about 25-30 carbs per day.

TWO OF MY FAVORITES.....
MOCK CHOCOLATE DANISH (this is so versatile. You can leave out the cocoa, nuts, and protein powder and just add vanilla and it is still very good. ) My timing for my micro is different for this. I use 20 seconds to melt and 45 seconds to cook....you want it like custard not scrambled eggs........ 2 ounces cream cheese 1 egg 2 Splenda packets -- if needed the keto cocoa is sweet enough 1 1/2 tablespoons keto cocoa 3 tablespoons protein powder -- whey, or ground almonds or both How to Prepare: Put cream cheese in microwave for 30 seconds. Then put in all the rest. Stir with a whisk until well blended. Put in microwave for 1 minute. This is like chocolate sponge pudding with thick custard in the middle! I found this on the recipe board. I use regular Hersheys's cocoa. STOVETOP CUSTARD 5 eggs 1 tablespoon nutmeg 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons heavy cream 1 teaspoon vanilla How to Prepare: Mix together eggs, heavy cream and nutmeg. Melt butter in small pan of stovetop. Pour egg mixture into hot butter- stir till done. Sprinkle with a little more nutmeg. I like mine with a few teaspoons of milk- like a hot cereal. Yields 1 serving. This makes a rich, warm, sweet mock custard that is heavenly. Does NOT taste like eggs!

Keto cereals are pretty good, the keto crisp is just like rice crispies except a little chewy at the end

Try the Gram's Gourmet Flax Crunchies (available at Netrition). I eat it like creal topped with cream.
Also, I love cottage cheese with strawberries plus 1/2 packet of splenda on top. |

Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day. Eggs and a breakfast meat are usual but every now and then I like something different.
Deli meat and cheese rollups with your choice of condiments Low carb bread w/ a cream cheese spread Green bean casserole is a nice change Chef salad w/ all the fixings is very filling Thinking outside the normal breakfast foods might be the change you need. Being so close to goal is wonderful. Congratulations! |

Low carb cheesecake - with no crust, of course - is one of my very favorites.
Low carb waffles or pancakes - throw in a few blueberries and top with freshly whipped cream. Yum. |

Breakfast Ideas
Was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for Breakfast? I've never been a big breakfast eater. I've been making eggs & either bacon or sausage. I found a cool recipe for a quiche-like breakfast.
What does everyone else make? PS - I'm in induction (and will be for a while) so alot of the lo carb muffins/breakfast bars/cereal, etc is not what I want to do just yet. |

I like to make flax seed meal cereal - add hot water to make a cream-of-wheat type of thing, some splenda, some cinnamon, and a little heavy cream.

As the others have stated, breakfast can be an assortment of different foods. Being a person of habit, I seldom tire of eggs (scrambled, boiled or in omelet form) and a breakfast meat (sausage or bacon). But, I have tried chef salads, tuna, cheesecake, hamburger casseroles, vegetables casseroles, etc.
Take inventory of the foods you enjoy and break away from the usual. |

low carb pancakes
I just tried a delicious recipe for low carb pancakes this morning.
You blend together 8 ounces cream cheese, 2 tablespoons splenda, 4 egg yolks,1 tsp of vanilla and 1/4 tsp of cinnamon. Then, you blend the egg whites seperately and fold them in. These were absolutly fantastic when topped with a little splenda and cinnamon! I highly recommend trying them. |

LEFTOVERS!
Seriously though.... I am not a breakfast eater. LOL. I like COFFEE for breakfast. I don't even get hungry until about 11:00 so I guess I usually have a 'late' breakfast and just 'pretend' that I woke up at 10:30.... hee hee.But here are some breakfast ideas that I do use when I am hungry right away in the mornings..... I make up a large container of Homemade Flax Cereal and keep it in the freezer at all times. We eat this hot with some cream and Splenda. Also good are the "pancakes" of Sherries which turn out just like 'regular' French Toast - served with sugar free syrup or just splenda and cinnamon. I love Quiche... that is a great alternative to just eating srambled eggs. Hundreds of different quiche recipes! I also like to roll some cream cheese up in slices of ham. Sometimes I add a tiny sliver of dill pickle or a couple thin sliced olives. Omlets sound boring I know... but think of all the possiblities for different kinds of omlets you can make! Add whatever suits your cravings for the day. I love sausage gravy.... so I brown the sausage and make my "gravy" out of heavy cream, a dash of garlic salt and some fresh ground pepper. Later on after induction you can toast 1 slice of low-carb bread to go with it.... pure heaven if you like this sort of thing. ![]()

My favorite breakfast ever is two eggs fried over easy, then cut up so the bits of cooked white are evenly coated with runny yolk. Add an ounce of grated sharp cheddar cheese and a generous sprinkling of black pepper. I enjoy this goop alongside a side of breakfast sausage...
I'm also fond of omelets. My favorite brunch is often a 3-egg omelet stuffed with sauteed onions and mushrooms, spinach, bacon, and sharp cheddar. A tall coffee with cream and DaVinci syrup. After that one, I'm not looking for food until dinnertime. |

try a quiche or frittata
I make these in a big batch in an oblong pyrex casserole dish. Then I have a quick brk every single day. I simply mix up eggs with some cream, add in sausage bits, or bacon, some veggies (I've done zucchini, or asparagus - a real hit with my coworkers!) - and some cheese. These bake for about 40 minutes. It is a great dish to take to breakfast pot lucks but also works to make a complete Atkins meal for a week. You can add some salsa to vary it out when you 'nuke' it in the AM. I usually do not tire of this dish! I'll be making one on Tuesday AM to take for our back to school breakfast.

I like to save bacon or sausage & eggs for Sundays, and on work days I absolutely LOVE vanilla flax-o-meal cereal with some vanilla davinci and sliced strawberries for breakfast. It's high in fiber, low in calories, and saves room for a nice snack around 10 a.m. to keep that metabolism going.

If you're wanting something resembling a pastry treat try the mock danish in the recipe room ~ basically scrambled eggs with a cream cheese/Splenda mixture ~ very tasty!
