COPD low carb recommendation

I have puttered with low carb eating for years, but never really stuck with it. I did notice that I felt better within days of starting a moderately low carb diet. I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 COPD- emphysema/chronic bronchitis...I believe I have had it for years, but was diagnosed with asthma-Along with the other benefits of low carbing, the American Lung Association and others recommend a low carb diet for copd folks because digesting carbs causes the body to produce more carbon dioxide than digesting protein and fats. This new info has really got me motivated to stick with my low carb diet, for weight loss and hopefully to breathe better, too.... Just wanted to post this for other folks with respiratory disease.
