prednisone and weight loss

Well, I'm still stuck at 142-143. I wonder now if the 5-10 mgs daily are the problem.
Any thoughts?

I just stumbled across this thread. My mom was on prednisone for 20 years. Her auto immue disorder is now in remission. She has felt better since being off of the meds and did lose weight. However, all of these very bad allergies cropped up like a dog allergy she never had before, and she feels a lot of pain in her joints which she never did before (she has arthritis but never felt the pain before). I hope you find the info you are looking for and feel better.

Thanks. My computer crashed and I just got back on.
I was off pred for a while a year or so ago, long enough to start using aloe vera juice to help build my immune system. Then I had to go on prednisone again.
Now it varies from 5 t0 10 mg a day, occasionally to 20. I'm trying to increase activity level via exercise. Some days I can, some I can'
I have learned upper body exercises make a difference for me. At home I have a few weights, and use gallon jugs for others to lift in different ways. That lifting and movement help me walk more.

I take prednisone every day for a disease called Sarcoidosis, it is in my lungs and my medistiman. It causes large benign tumors to grow there. Prednisone shrinks them.

I also take prednisone but managed to lose 13 lbs in 6 days. Iv'e been at a standstill for a short bit now. I wonder if the Prednisone is the problem??? Unfortunately I can't get off as I suffer from Addison's disease

I've been on Prednisone for over a year. Initially I was on 60mg and then tappered to 30mg and gained over 60 lbs in the process! I had just lost 50 lbs on WW when I started the Prednisone so you can imagine how devistated I was! I'm on 15 mg daily now and have lost 25 lbs on Atkins since 11/29/12. It is not as fast as some but it is the only plan that I have been able to lose on while on steroids. My advise is to not give up on whater WOE you are doing if you were initially losing...stick with it and you will see results. I think our bodies while on Prednisone will fight us, but we will eventually win. It would be awesome to start a support group on one of these threads for those of us who have the added complication of taking meds that inhibit weight loss.
