Dear Texas C. Gal

Have you noticed any relief from giving up gluten, sugars etc.,
and going on Atkins? I'm in the same boat with you. Allergies
since childhood, bronchial, asthmas and copd are my lot
in this world too.

I have been off the diet for over a week now. Had been feeling horrible for a long time and come to find out I have Pertussis and Mycoplasma Pneumonia. Apparently I have been sick with one or the other since the middle of June. If I ever get better (I am feeling TERRIBLE as I type) I will go back on Adkins and answer your question. Although I have noticed that once off the diet my feet and ankles are swollen.

This is forum a great addition to the board. I have had asthma for 30 year but probably since childhood although it wasn't diagnosed til later. I feel better when I can exercise but that's not always possible because it depends on what pollen is popping up; some cause me bigger problems over others that just make my eyes itch. I do feel much better going low carb; just having some probs right now getting back to it due to dental insufficiency. (Translation: need implants of a few lower molars and have some money saved for it.)

The other thing that helps (back to when I can avoid the bad pollen) is exercising. I enjoy biking quite a bit and it seems to increase my breathing capacity. Walking, hiking, and other aerobic type activities are great calorie burners, but the biking works because I can vary the intensity by my own efforts or choosing differing routes. (Also I can outrun any fools that want to mess with me if I'm out alone. LOL)

So, between the hypothyroidism, allergies, and asthma, I've always got something to fiddle with. It all works out though; it makes me stay on a more even keel in many ways.
