Morning everyone!
ladeelilian. Just finished Week 5. I'm still doing Meat/Veggies weeks. I love it!!! I'm down 2kg from last week for a Total of 5kgs (11 lbs) in 5 weeks. I'm -4 1/2" on my waist, -3" on my hips, -2" on my thighs and -1" on my upper arms!!!! I am VERY happy with the progress. My clothes are noticeably looser, I feel better, have more energy and I have increased the intensity of my workouts!Moonstruck - I found the shakes very filling, too! Some days I either skipped the 3rd or gave half of it to one of the kids because I just didn't want it! Red Lobster sounds lovely! Wish we had one here! Ladeelilian - YOU CAN DO THIS! Weigh and measure and then when you see actual results it will motivate you to continue! Sandy - How are you doing? Soobee - How are you and dh doing?

Maryam, we are on week #8. My husband lost 7 pounds, and I lost 5. We are both losing at the rate of about 1 pound a week, and have been since the beginning. We really like the diet. Yesterday was grilled shrimp and steak. Who can complain?

Thank you speedymagee and maryam!
Day 5 is almost over and I am feeling great! I agree that the shakes can be very filling depending how they are made. I usual blend mine with tons of ice. I tried a chocolate whey (100% gold standard) with the hwc, vanilla and chocolate syrups and a couple drops of peppermint extract and it is delicious! (my DBF's idea). I have only been doing 2 shakes each day with one meal, and do 1.5 scoops instead of 1 since I don't have the 3rd shake. Tomorrow I weigh in since it is my day off and I hope for some progress but don't know what to expect. I don't feel very optimistic because my clothes still fits the same... |

On day number 6 now.. And checked my weight this morning and I am down 2 pounds!! Lost about one inch altogether with waist and legs... But my arms got bigger!? I'm not sure what happened there, but I'm more hopeful now!
Made some protein shake ice cream (mint chocolate flavor) and really excited to have that for brunch! Dbf is so creative with my shakes! |

Ladeelilian - Sounds yummy! Choc mint were my favorite shakes! I think anything tastes better with mint in it! I'm sure your arms didn't get bigger! Maybe you just measured different than the first time! Great work!!!!!!!

Once I thought I saw a huge muscle on my left arm.I was psyched. Then I noticed I didn't have a corresponding muscle in my right arm. It turned out to be my tetanus shot that swelled up. So much for my mighty muscle.

Hello group! I am jumping back on tomorrow and will be reviewing the book again tonight. I have two good protein powders in the pantry so I am ready.
Except for all the drinking (whoa Bettie!) I did pretty good in Vegas. |

Stephanie, don't worry about switching to the meat and vegie week. My husband and I have been on the meat and vegie part for 6 weeks now.
Daisy, it sounds as if you had a great time in Vegas. Welcome back. |

Hi all,
I seem to do great for a day and then crash. I did 4 good weeks on the cure and went off the rails when my sister visited. I liked the shake weeks best and am thinking maybe a shake week would get me back on track. I have undone almost all of my good work. On a more positive note I am really doing great with my workouts. I am always more motivated to eat well when I work out regularly. |

Sandy - do you add an egg to all your shakes?
I just had my first protein thingy this morning and I can't stop thinking about having something else! I don't like shake week I think. How many shakes a day do you do and how many eggs? Inquiring minds want to know! Seriously though, I want to do this at least a week and need motivation a bit. For breakfast I had 1.5 scoops, some sugar-free syrup, and a big splash of half-and-half. I'm starving right now! |

Hi Daisy! I always add an egg if I'm at home. Are you getting enough protein powder? This is important! Seems like most people feel hungry and don't like the shake weeks. Was Vegas a blast?

Daisy I added a tbsp of coconut oil to my shakes and I never ever felt hungry! In fact I rarely finished the third shake because I just wasn't hungry! And I'd do 2 scoops if I were you! But I also found that while, not hungry, I missed eating - the act of chewing on something!

Maryam - that is the truth isn't it?
I'll try both an egg and coconut oil today if I feel the need. Yesterday hit a few bumps. I feel ready to do this! But my mind is spinning elsewhere apparently. Grr and arg! |

moonstruck and maryam - how are you doing on your meat weeks?
i am considering moving on to meat weeks early right now. i am almost done with day 9 but i am going crazy without real food since everyone else is constantly eating around me! but i am afraid that my loss would slow down without finishing the first two weeks. TOM is just around the corner though, so my weight and measurements would probably be off either way, but I don't know if I can do 5 more days of this! this is actually the longest i have gone without going off the diet.. without *really* going off the diet. honestly i don't think i am following the plan properly because i don't use the recipes for the meals, i eat my meals at work and since i work in a casino, we get a variety of food to choose from, so i eat meat and veggies with a bowl of fruit each day i work, but i think my meals are bigger than they should be.. but i still had progress. i'm trying to push myself to do *just one more day* until i hit 2 weeks, but i don't know!! i am scheduled to donate blood on thursday right after completing my two weeks. I need your advice please! |

oh yeah and i forgot to mention, the reason i decided on starting the 6 week cure happens to be because i had exactly 6 weeks until i go on a cruise with my best friend. it will be my first cruise ever and i want to make the best of it and look my best! so failure isn't really an option, but skewing the plan may be a possibility??

Speedymagee, maybe going to the shake week would help you. You enjoyed the shake weeks, if I remember correctly. Or you could do a hybrid, some shakes and some meals each day. Congratulations on working out daily. Sometimes it's hard to talk yourself into doing the exercises.
Daisy, I was hungry on the shake weeks, because I was supposed to live on one scoop per shake. Whenever I got hungry, I increased the protein powder, and that seemed to do to trick. Ladeelillian, I don't think it would hurt to go on the meat and vegie plan. If you can't stand another day of shakes, that's the route I would take. My husband and I are stating Week 9, 7 of them meat and vegies. He lost 8 pounds, I lost 5 1/2. It's slow but steady for my husband, so we are satisfied. |

Is it weird that I think the shakes may be contributing to my wanting sugar? The shakes seem so sweet and then I cave and have sugar.
Blerg! Grr! Arg! |

thanks for the advice soobee. i am going to try to stick to shakes as long as possible, but very likely moving on to meat and eggs early. i have 4 more days to go, and with my work schedule, i sleep most my day away so i guess that makes it easier. i end up only having 1-2 shakes a day rather than 3 with 1.5 scoops of protein each. i really just miss food but i don't know if i would do well with meat and eggs... without the fruits and without dairy..!
daisy, i completely agree that most shakes are just overly sweet and leaves a weird taste in your mouth that gives you sugar cravings, but you can do it! when i get a sugar craving, i either drink some flavored sobe life water or chew some gum (i don't know if those things are okay to do, but it's low calorie and sugar free!) |

Daisy - try to find a protein powder without all the artificial sweeteners. SOme of them are so sickly sweet they gag me! I ended up using Isopure Zero Carb and put my flavorings and stevia if I wanted it!
Ladielilian - I started meat weeks early and I did fine. Just couldn't handle anymore whey!!!! Sandy - I think maybe doing a shake week will be good. You liked the shake weeks before and they really worked for you! Soobee - Glad your dh is still losing!!!!! ![]() I'm still on meat weeks and plan to stay here at least a few more weeks. Just finished week 6 and here are my stats: Weight - 69 Kgs (down from 75 kg) Waist - 29" (down from 34") Hips - 38" ( down from 41") Tighs - 23" (down from 24 !/2") And I am even more pleased with the weight loss since I was expecting to see a gain today - TOM is here! |

congrats on the loss Maryam!
so i am 12 days into the diet and i think i am going to start meat and eggs tomorrow. TOM is supposed to start tomorrow as well though, but i guess it is a good thing so i get rid of the toxins in my blood? haha. i will also do my measurements in the morning. question though..: i let my coworker borrow the book and i was wondering on meat and egg weeks, which i believe most of you are currently on?, what is the real restriction. i know to pretty much avoid fruits at all costs and avoid dairy. small amounts of veggies. what about seasonings? and can i snack on nuts like almonds and pistachios? i am ready to start eating again! and all real food..! i am glad to be getting off of all those syrups. wish me luck with weigh in tomorrow! |

Soobee - Yeah 6kgs = 13.2lbs!
ladielillian - I don't snack! Snacking leads to overeating, Eat ONLY when you are really hungry, not bored. Keep your carbs to 6gm per meal (I count seasonings such as garlic, cinnamon...) I don't do any fruit right now and I don't do dairy. Good luck on your weigh in!!!!! And enjoy eating again!!!! |

thanks for the advice maryam. i hope i didn't make the bad choice for myself to change to meat and eggs early! i am worried about not having dairy! i love dairy! but it seems you are all enjoying meat and egg weeks right??
soobee.. i will try not to have any nuts! i will REALLY try! haha so i weighed in this morning, down another .8 - totally about -5 for the first 12 days! (not too bad, but still a distant ways from my goal!) and the inches are still steadily slipping away from me. i actually started to take the gla/cla combo with this... hoping to really melt the inches quickly. how is everyone else doing?? |

Now that TOM is gone my energy is back up and I feel much better! Going to the in-laws for lunch on Friday so that may be a challenge! Fortunately they almost always fix the meat seperate from the rice so I won't have to pick rice out of my meat! And the one doing the cooking is very aware and supportive of my WOE!
