6 Week Cure for the Middle Age Middle
Just thought I would start a thread to discuss the new book. I have ordered it and am waiting for it to arrive. Anyone who wants to share links or information can do it here. Many of us are waiting for our books so if anyone wants to share what to eat the first two weeks until our books get here it would be welcome.
Here is the link to a great interview with the Eades from Jimmy Moore's website (this is the MP3 download that you can listen to on your computer): http://www.thelivinlowcarbshow.com/s...-the-eades.mp3

i do not have the book but have been following a group at ALC who've started.
from what i gather, it is protein shakes and one meal....am i wrong on this? some specific supplements as well. there was also something about the reccommendation for using Enova oil...which i really don't get the point of. i'll be interested in what others have read. |

I thought the interview was very good and there really was a lot of information to think about.
I am not currently a PP WOL person but I might give this a try once I know more. I am wondering about the supplements and if there are some pricey ones they recomend and also the meds they suggest to avoid? |

Homestretch, thanks for starting this thread! I am giving this program my best. I was lucky and found the book at Barnes and Nobles. I have jumped around reading here and there, but plan on spending more time reading the complete book this week.
Now its off to listen to the PodCast. |

The podcast is very good. The use of DAG oil or Enova has been shown to increase metabolism and that is why they include it in their plan.

Here are my questions: Are the shakes just whey protein or do the recipes require you to add more ingredients? How many shakes do you drink in a day. On the podcast they say that people complain that they can't drink all of their shakes so I am assuming you get more than two????

Homestretch,
I thought I read in Eads forum someone said the first round is two weeks of shakes and 1 meal. Someone posted 4 shakes, 1 meal. I ordered the book and am waiting. I am curious. |

I have the book and it is 3 shakes and 1 Meal.
The shakes are basic: 1-3 scoops WHEY POWDER (based on your current weight) 2 TBLS HWC or Coconut Milk 3/4 cup water & ice Optional but recommended additions: 1 egg 1 tsp DAG oil (Enova) 2500 mg D-Ribose 2500 mg Leucine |

Hello. Marking my spot. I bought the book yesterday and have read about 1/2 of it. I did buy the supplements at the Vitamin Shoppe and have started today.
I have about 20 lbs to lose, and thought this book could help me get on the right track. I made a couple caveats: 1. I didn't have time to 'wean' myself off of caffeine, so I am cutting down-starting today. By week's end I hope to be at none. I am aware this could impede my results somewhat--but I'm thinking I'll still see benefits. 2. I could not find Enova oil, so I added coconut oil instead. I'm going to search for the Enova again later this week at another grocery store. I'll keep you posted of any results. jem51 -- what does "ALC" stand for? |

Hi all,
I just got my book and I'm halfway through. Once I pick up more HWC tonight I will start tommorrow. The D-Ribose is recommended if you plan on weight lifting or heavy exercise right away. I use a Whey powder that contains Leucine already. I plan to either add coconut oil or flax oil to mine. I have to stay away from soy. Also there is a list of approved meals for the first two weeks. The recipes are in in the book. Most are simple affairs and there are options for breakfast lunch and dinner depending on which meal you choose to eat. I've been off caffeine for awhile. |

Kiley2801 & Tirjasdyn I started today too! I did have one regular coffee this a.m., but have only had decaf since. I can't believe I actually ordered a DECAF Ice coffe from DD this a.m.
I'll be coming here and posting to my blog. It might take me a good week to get truly up and rolling, i.e. measurements and the such.. but I've had two shakes so far and plan on drinking my third at about 3..... Dinner is out with a girlfriend, so I think I will have a Chicken or Steak Salad. Good Luck, I look forward to everyones success.

Great, it will be nice to have some comrades.
I still need to take my measurements AND buy a more reliable scale. I'm more of a 'size matters' girl though. I am just about bursting out of size 10s now (could def. wear a 12 in many of my pants), and I'm aiming to get back into my 8s (which are what 75% of the clothes in my closet consist of--grrr). Ultimately, I'd like to get to a solid 6. (yep have some of those in my closet too, from my late 20s/early 30s). I ate my "real meal" at lunch. I had a grilled chicken ceaser salad-- yum. Still have two shakes to go... |

Marking my spot. I will be traveling for 1 1/2 weeks so decided it makes no sense to try to work this while not home. While away I plan to read the book, put together a grocery list and get started as soon as I get home.
My protein powder has 2500 gm leucine in it and my multi vitamin contains all the supplements he suggests so I just need to have groceries on hand for the 1 meal per day. I've gone months losing nothing and just thought this a good way to jump start weight loss. I'll enjoy reading everyone elses experiences while I'm away.

Plan to make up a whole batch for the week so I can just pour it out as needed. I plan to make vanilla so I can spice / change it up as needed. I have chocolate whey powder too...but I don't like it as much.
I'm going to Pittsburgh at the end of the week so I'll have to back off (maybe get some pre-blended for the hotel fridge) but frankly I'm planning to extend my two weeks to three...with a total of two after I get back. keeping lc will be easy...but not on the shakes. |

Decisions, decisions...I am on the fence. I restarted Lean for Life because I know its plan so well. But on the other hand, I have big fall goals. I am leaning on trying this.
But I am nervous about two weeks of shakes. I am afraid I will just fail trying to drink shakes for two weeks. Anyone else concerned? |

Okay, though I had a shake last night...today is the official start. I grew up with a father that had a shake every morning for breakfast (still does), eats meat for lunch and dinner. He's as thin as whip. He's been on his children for years to switch to shakes but he uses the nastiest tasting powder around. I hate pre-made shakes and never had luck with them.
Still I'm giving this a go. I like moderated control (make your own but told what to do). Some tips: Pre make the the base: From my years as a soda jerk...base is good! Take a jug that you can shake and add the water content (sans ice) and protein powder for the week. Shake well. Make one batch chocolate and one batch vanilla. Add your supplements to the base (NOT OIL ONES) if you are using those. Now you can pour it, add flavor, fruit etc, and your heavy whipping cream at will. Freeze your Shake: Make any of the shake flavors and freeze. Ice cream for after dinner snack! |

I bought the book, I love the Eades. I have not measured yet to figure out how much visceral vs subq fat I have but will. I am going camping next week so plan on starting when I get back and get the groceries together. A lot of those recipes sound really good. I like how it is divided into 3 two week sessions. I can do anything for just 2 weeks. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's progress. I wish I could start now!

Yesterday was an success
OK OK, I've been know to fall for the "placebo" effect, but I swear I am waayy less bloated (maybe caffeine IS my secret enemy
) but this a.m. I put on a shirt that I refused to wear 2 weeks ago because it showed every bulge, today it hangs nicely ... Gosh, I wished I measured already. I do have some pretty recent measurements so maybe I can compare to those. I followed my plan yesterday, adding in a snack of 3 chicken drummettes and 1.5 ounces of cheese (Monterey Jack plus Salsa- by The Cheese Shop- To die for). I don't think I would have needed a snack if I had added the egg and enova to my 2nd & 3rd shakes. The protein powder I use has virtually no fat in it... I did not make the same mistake today ![]() How's everybody else doing? |
