Too Much Food?
Hello all,
Glad I found this board since the original Protein Power website doesn't seem to get much traffic. I just started Protein Power last week after being on Atkins since April due to the fact that I just wasn't losing much - plus for now, I am currently at 149 and want to get down to 135 to be within my normal range for my height. I am loving the diet because I don't have to work up the rungs to have berries or a slice of low carb bread, however after trying Fitday, I think I may have gone over my carbs for breakfast! I thought I was doing it correct by following the 30 day low carb solution, but now I don't think so! Breakfast - 1/2 Haas Avocado 1 slice 40 cal, high fiber bread, toasted 2 hard boiled eggs 3 Tablespoons whole mayo 1 tsp. butter Made an egg salad and had this over my toast. Also, earlier, had 1 TBS of heavy cream with a few cups coffee. Fitday said I had 19 carbs, but I don't believe it is net carbs. Did I do something wrong? Any suggestions appreciated! Maggie |

what is the carb count in the bread by itself? That is probably close to half of it.

The carb count on the bread is 14 minus 5 fiber = 9 net carbs according to the package, but FitDay calculated it at 7 carbs, which is acceptable on the 30 day plan by the Eades. It is a 35 calorie slice. Not sure whether to go by FitDay's calculation or the calculation on the package. I didn't add the carbs in the eggs when doing the calculation in my head, either, and FitDay calculated the carbs at 3 which threw me off.
According to the book, we can choose 2 carbs from the small serving carb list for each meal, so I chose the slice of bread and the half of avocado.... Thanks! |

Thanks, and you know, I hadn't had bread for 2 months on Atkins, but thought I would try a piece since I switched to PP, and you know what? It just wasn't worth it - it didn't even taste that good, so unless it is a good Italian or French bread which is not allowed, I determined it simply is not worth the carbs. Nonetheless, I went down 2 lbs yesterday by switching to this diet.

Also, when you have a package of something you have purchased, add it to your custom foods. Then Fitday will always be correct.
