Did I calculate my protein needs right? PROTEIN POWER
My LBM is 125. I'm 32.
I don't exercise so i came up with 62.5 g protein requirements. Can this be right? I've certainly been eating more than that. |

I believe that the suggestion is to target a protein level of LBM x "activity level" where activity level varies from 0.5 for total couch potato to about 1 for athlete. Personally, I target about 1-1.5g/lb of body weight and try to get 30-50g in every sitting. 62.5 g seems pretty low, almost at an unsustainable level. I would at least try to get 100 g/day. |

Thanks Brian,
I found an online calculator that says 75-100... which I think is about right. I'm not too active right now but I'm not a total couch potato either. |

Protein Power Lifeplan has very easy charts where you look up your gender, height and weight, and it gives you the grams of protein you should eat per meal (it's rounded off a bit from the original PP) -- no calculations required. So, for example, I'm supposed to eat 27g per meal according to the charts -- though doing the formal PP calculations it comes out more around 23, so I aim for somewhere in that range.
If you can't find it online, I could look it up for you if you let me know your height/weight. BTW the amounts they suggest are minimums -- there is no problem with going over, and I suspect that in the course of a day (snacks included) I typically do. Ilpirata, according to PPLP you are in the category of needing minimum 34g of protein per meal. At your height you wouldn't drop down to the 27g category unless you weighed under 155. So eat up!

I'm curious to know how much protein I need. I did atkins two years ago and lost 50 pds. I gained most of it back and tried to do atkins and failed. I would like to try this.
My weight is 242 , I five foot six inches. Thanks |
