What's the main diffeence between atkins and protein power?

I am curious to know what the main difference is between the two programs. I've read and been on atkins 72 for a little while now but don't knot about protein power.

Can anyone please send me in the right direction?
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You'll find everything you need to know in the articles here (an outline of the plan and a comparison to other plans). Protein Power at a Glance - Protein Power Forums

I'd also add that in my view a crucial difference is that the originators of the plan, Michael and Mary Dan Eades, are alive, and actively researching, blogging, developing new books and recipes, and even answering readers questions on their forum. They're great.

On PP you are allowed 30 carbs for "induction" and you eat 10 each meal X 3 meals. You are allowed some fruits in the early stages of PP. I agree with Prairieprof, the Drs. Eades are still working in the field of nutrition and are easily accessible, whereas Dr. Atkins staff has taken over his work.

protein power

They are very similar. I just wanted to point out that their writing approaches are very different. Protein Power gets much more detailed about the chemistry of LC, which works great for me. There is not a conflict of ideas that I can see, just much more detail.

If you want to read one of their books, to me the best one is still Protein Power - if you like that kind of detail.

Like the others, I appreciate that they are living, researching, and revising. In some of their newer books, they are willing to even say, "we have changed our minds about what we said in the first book" on an issue. I really appreciate that!

yeah true enough but I mean the guy died at 72 years old; so he lived a long life, I would think so.

we tip our hats to dr atkins

[COLOR="Blue"]There really isnt a whole lot of difference between atkins and the protein power plan..atkins I would say ,at least in the first 2 weeks of induction, is much more strict...no fruits, no breads, very very min of even splenda sweetened drinks, and no more than 20 carbs per day for the first 14 days. Where as the protein power plan allows up to 40 carbs per day...and depending on whether you are a "hedonist," delitante" or "purist" in your approach, allows for fruits and limited breads. Basically though the two plans form the same basis for a controlled carb way of life...restrict the carbs and gain your health. Dr. Atkins contributed his life to this wol...and whether we realize it or not...he has helped, along with other medical proponent of lc wol including the Eades, to change the diet industry and nutritional industry attitudes toward eating and lifestyle... they are saving millions of lives world wide. True, but I would like to just add a cautionary note here: too many people blame low-carbing for Dr. Atkins' death, and that's not what happened. He died of a head injury sustained by slipping on ice and hitting his head on the pavement. That canard about him being obese when he died was just that, a canard. The reason he weighed what he did was that he ballooned during his three weeks or so comatose in the hospital while on a glucose drip, as all low-carbers will when presented with that much glucose.

His weight had nothing to do with his death. Before he entered the hospital he was at a healthy weight and had been for decades.
