Protein Power Support Group - anyone?
I'm on PP and I know most of the folks here are on Atkins, but it sure would be nice to have a weekly check-in for all of the PP out there..

We need to make sure we eating our minimum protein and eating the good carbs. What phase is everyone on? I'm in Phase I (28-40 grams carbs per day) with a 20 g protein minimum per meal. My goal this week (it's my 2nd week exercising) is 90 minutes of Nordic Tracking.... Let's go!!!!! ![]() |

How are the PPers out there?
Just checking in with the other PPers out there.....
How is everyone doing? I'm still in Phase I and I find myself having trouble hitting 30 grams of carbs per day... I get my protein minimums in but you would think I was on Atkins based on my FitDay numbers. Any ideas how I can add carbs.. My carb totals run about 8 per meal (before fiber) and I'm eating a fair amount of veggies at lunch and dinner.. I was thinking of adding some fruit (cantaloupe, strawberries, muskmelon) that is lower carb. Thoughts? |

Hi Gina...and hi Everyone! I have been doing a strict PP for a month, having switched over from a less well defined 'sort of eating what I knew' were low carb foods craziness that had me losing one pound since June... in addition to 10 lost before that over two months of being more focused. I don't really have your problem, Gina, (and wish I did) of having to work at eating enough carbs. I find that strawberries is an easy way to add them. I also buy CG fiber crisp crackers that are 100% fiber and are so crunchy that you don't feel deprived. Each 3" cracker has 3 grams of carb but also 3 grabs of fiber so it's a wash. I limit myself to a few a day because I could overeat them, but also because I use them as a base for peanut butter, and I definitely have to limit that to a TBS a day. Tomatoes in a salad will also add a few carbs. Hope that helps. :-) Blue

PP Check In - Week of 2/18-2/24
Hey PPers, how's it going this week?
Happy Mardi Gras! I did buy some strawberries... I'm having a few for dessert some nights. I'm slowly getting my carbs up..... But I'm eating lots of veggies... My average for last week was 27 g carbs 7 g fiber (20 eff carbs) but I'm getting in over a 100 grams of protein... I hope everyone is having a good week and following the plan. I've been stuck at 211.6 for 3 days but I'm not stressing...... yet. Thought for the week: I will have a good week, I will make good choices, I deserve a healthy body and a healthy life.....

What are the tenets of PP? I've been on a 40-20-40 self designed w.o.e. for about 6 months now with great success. Just wondering if there was some online scientific material to look at about this plan. I get between 175-200 grams of protein a day. My goal is to maintain muscle mass. I'm a tournament racquetball player and the intensity level of the exercise tends to burn through everything, muscle included, so we have to continually replenish it.
Fruits, Fiber One cereal, and the air popped popcorn are some other carb choices along with the 60 calorie yogurt in my life. A sugar free fudgesicle is a daily treat too along with redesigned flaxmeal muffins (much more protein). Anyway...hope you're all doing well. Q the curious

Muchas gracias...seems that I'm on a nearly identical w.o.e. although not at the Purist level. Interesting.
