Math / Protein Power Question.

Again with the Protein Power Plan Questions. I’m a stickler for following a plan so here is my next question. The author says to go into / stay in Phase One if you need to loose 20 percent of your weight. I hate math what’s the formula.

I weight currently 182 (I was shocked) and I want to weigh 135. Any help would be appreciated

You weight 182, you want to weigh 135, so you want to lose 47 lbs.

47 lbs is 25.8% of 182. (47/182*100)

Ok so if it was 100% it would be your body weight multiplied by one.
182 X 1 = 100% of your body weight.
Therefore:

20% of your body weight would be:

182 X 0.2 = 145.6

182 - 145.6 = 36.4lbs.
You need to lose 36.4 pounds to lose 20% of your body weight.

Now if you want to know what precentage 135 is of 182 then this is a division problem.
Divide the smaller by the larger then multiply by 100.

Therefore:

135 / 182 = 0.741758 (gotta move that decimal two places to the left)

Let's round it ok?
0.742 X 100 = 74.2.
Looks like 135lbs is 74.2% of 182lbs.

100 - 74.2 = 25.8.

Or, you need to lose 25.8% of your body weight to weigh 135lbs.

(I think anyway)

And, yes! I did indeed use a calculator for this.
Whew! I think I burned up 50 calories just doing this.
