TUESDAY'S Roll CALL, Sept. 10
Onward and Upward we go.

Garage door pooped up a bit today again, had to call "the guy", and he fixed the motor to the tune of $245, or so.

Hang tough, gang. If it ain't one thing, it's another. :aprayer:

Begete 09-09-2013 08:18 PM

Heading out early tomorrow for a garden club project. Going to make concrete leaves.

Have a good one.

Mssarge 09-09-2013 09:28 PM

Doris, didn't you just have work done on the garage door? Sorry to hear you're still having problems with it....

Just had to report in, the local PBS station is in pledge week and they did a special on Downton Abby Revisited...great to see the footage again and am anticipating seeing season 4 in January. thinking of pledging and getting all the DVD's...hold me back ladies.

Hope the day is great for everyone.

Norfolk Mermaid 09-10-2013 03:30 AM

So very sorry Louise but am grateful for the options you have.
That is wonderful news about BOB so now you and all of us can concentrate on you getting well also.
Need my coffee this morning- loved walks in the early am AND late afternoon as well yesterday but the heat is back for the next 3 days then a real nice way cool down for a spell. Am tired out though but the coffee will fix that nicely I am sure.

tatehouse 09-10-2013 06:04 AM

Morning all.

The birthday dinner was fun and lots of left overs. Not always the case with that 18 year old boy in attendance.

My oldest Grandson has just started his first real day of boot camp today. He thought he was taking what he was allowed and already sending a box home with the extras. He will be a communications officer in the Navy when he is done. My DD says he got his "smurf suit" for the first week. Any prayers and good thoughts are welcome.

My cats have decided to send me to the poor house. With the both of them now they are going through about 10 pounds of dry food a month. I'm not sure if the new one is just a big eater or the old one is trying to eat it all so the new one won't get any. Either way. I have to go to the store for more cat food yet again.

Hope you all have a great day.

Norfolk Mermaid 09-10-2013 06:17 AM

Anne, when did you get a new kitty???? Remember 0 brain power here! or maybe brain over load of data and not acceptin anything new.
PICTURES RIGHT AWAY PLEASE- HEY, everybody- PET PICTURES DAY... let us all see the babies.

SuSUN 09-10-2013 07:23 AM

Thanks for our kick out the door today Doris. Love that pretty pink flower in your Avi. Sorry to hear about that garage door costing so much to fix. That seems a bit stiff of a price to pay. You could probably get a new one for that price. I too have a tricky door. It opens okay its the closing but only sometimes. I might need to buy a new system soon. I saw one at Sears for $199 that is quite a basic one though.

Lainey, that is a great idea to see all our fur babies I would love to post a pic if I only knew how? Who do you use for hosing the pics?

Babette, what are you using for your mold? DGF told me that she made them a few years back with Rhubarb leaves, they are quite effective looking in her garden.

Mary, Thank you for your kind comments on yesterday's post re my biopsy. We are both ladies in waiting Hah! Thank goodness those fires are getting under control one way or the other. We have a raining day up here today so hopefully it will move over your way. Yes, Downton Abbey does have quite the following now.

Anne, glad to hear you had a Fun Birthday. Too bad those left overs cannot go to feed your kitties. Pet food is a constant huh? I wouldn't have it any other way. Love 'em too much. Prayers and positive thoughts for your DGS.

I plan to walk with DD and the dogs for an hour around noon in the woods. Then, I have arranged for our ladies group meet at 3:30 to see the 4pm show of "We're the Millers." should be good for a laugh at least.

Waving to All and hope to check back later...

Begete 09-10-2013 07:54 AM

I am also using rhubarb leaves, Susan.

LoveMontana 09-10-2013 08:03 AM

Thanks for the kick out the door Doris.
Looks like you really need a new garage door opener which will cost a lot less than having the old one constantly repaired.

Babette, concrete leaves?? Pictures please:cool:

Mary, go for it if you really want those.;) We only live once.

Lainey, yes the heat is moving back to the east coast for a few days.

Anne, congratulations to your Grandson. He is a patriot!!

Susan, enjoy your walk in the woods. Will you get this heat wave too?

Muggy and getting hot again today. Nothing special planned, but going to vote in the primary.

Shalbrihil 09-10-2013 08:15 AM

Thank you Doris for our start out.

Here's a pic of my older boy ZIP. He's in the middle of talk with us.

mykneesareback 09-10-2013 08:57 AM

Yep, the big red "heat wave" they showed on the weather report this morning, showed the hot stuff moving towards the East, so we will get a few degrees off for awhile. But I haven't grabbed for my sweater just yet.

The garage door had something on the door repaired last time, and yesterday, it was the opener unit that had a part that finally died, so that was the issue now. dh knows we need a new one, but giving it one more chance, because a new door is even greater expense, and we have other issues we need to attend to, also. If it was only the door, it would be easier to deal with. The house in Calif. won't sell until maybe next year, no one buys a house up there in the winter. Still have to keep up the power, so the heat can be set low, so the pipes don't freeze, and pay taxes.

Yes, Anne, your grandson is to be commended, and so is your granddaughter, Sharon!!

I printed out a map quest to go do early voting tomorrow, the election isn't until the 21st., but we want to get it done now. We got a card in the mail, after we got the Texas drivers license, and that is all you need, that, and a photo ID, somewhat like Germany in the old days.

Mary, there are so many danged fires in California, I've been seeing pictures on F/B of the ones in northern Calif, good heaven's!!

Begete, those concrete leaves look wonderful, when they show it on tv, hope it works out well for you. How many do you want to make?

Odd coincidence, the smaller bldg. where dh just went for his liver specialist, turns out, that is the bldg. where our son's cancer doctor has his office! Our son had been there often, and we never told him the address of dh's doctor, lol.

Have a great day, get your exercises in, and enjoy what you are able to enjoy, friends. :aprayer: :yummy:

Mssarge 09-10-2013 09:32 AM

Good morning all...my goodness, just heard on the news we're not expected to hit 90 degrees here today...of course, we're back up to the triple digits this weekend but I'm enjoying the coolth whilst I can. Cleaning today; Nadine will be over later after I get the chest x-ray taken, so not much going on again. Sounds like everyone has plans for the day so enjoy 'em folks...type ya later.

Norfolk Mermaid 09-10-2013 10:49 AM

AAAWWWWW Sharon, them are some kissable looking pups you got there- waiting for the third guy/gal.

Doug_H 09-10-2013 11:13 AM

Hi all

Been lots of rain here in the desert the last few days. More to come. We will take it when we can get it.

Going out to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch today, Wing Tuesday.

tatehouse 09-10-2013 11:23 AM

Oh, Lainey... this is the cat that the kitten fairy left me about a year ago...Ducky. She is a good cat and I love her but someone is eating me out of house and home...Pigs in cat clothes.

mykneesareback 09-10-2013 11:43 AM

Enjoy your meal today, Doug. Do you collect rain water in those barrels they sell? Just curious..............we have a lack of water here, too.

LoveMontana 09-10-2013 12:11 PM

Hi everyone, been a busy day but thought I would sit for a few.

Doris, good luck with that garage door opener.

Doug, enjoy the Monsoon season. Hit something and posted before I was ready.

Thanks for that tip on pictures Lainey. Didn't realize we didn't need to use photobucket or image shack.

Well, pot on the stove is calling. BBL

Mssarge 09-10-2013 01:51 PM

Hey, Doug, was thinking of you last night when I saw the weather maps with very strong storms all along the river...looks like some good'uns. Did your garden survive your vacation?

I'm really enjoying my 85 degree temp today...only 34% humidity, too. Now I see we have two more tropical storms coming up from Baja...should be an exciting couple o' weeks ahead.

hope everyone's day is going well. hugs to all.

Doug_H 09-10-2013 03:33 PM

Mary, we are between spring and fall gardening seasons. Jo will probably start planting as soon as this heat spell is over. Flower beds and shrubs are doing fine.

Doris, no rain barrels here. Wouldn't be worth it.

Sure has been muggy. Other than that we have been enjoying the rain.

SuSUN 09-10-2013 05:46 PM

Oh A Big Thank YOu to Lainey for those instructions. I am quite pooped right now.
I was at the movies with friends and walked with DD and the dogs this morning, so an evening with the TV and that will be my only challenge tonight.

I have copied and pasted your instructions on how to post a pic. I will certainly have a go tomorrow. My mind is failing at this time.

Sharon, Loved see your Boys today, they are adorable. It is certainly okay to be a proud Gramma, you have much to be proud of there with that little lady.

Linda, the heat wave may come tomorrow today was coolish and with light rain here and there.

Glad to see Doug's post. Stay cool and safe you two.

Oh yes Anne, now I remember that Kitty Ducky. Yes the older cat could be in competition with the younger one at meal times.

Waving to All and hope everyone has a restful sleep.

Verleen 09-10-2013 08:08 PM

evenin. Getting ready for bed.

Louise, I am sorry to hear about your results, but keeping positive thoughts about your alternatives. :aprayer:

Sharon, just loved your dog pictures.

The luncheon was very nice. They brought me a house warming gift. I wasn't expecting that. That was nice of them. They loved the house as has everyone that has seen it.

I just ordered some drawer dividers for silverware and cutlery. And a wok spoon that all the chefs are using for everything.

I've made myself sick with all the stuff I've been doing for this luncheon. But it was worth it. Now to bed with me so I can recover.

I wish everyone a happy day like I had. Hang in there. :hugs:
