substitute for tequila?

Want to make a recipe for tequila lime marinade but I dont have any tequila and dont want to go buy some for a 1/4 c of marinade. Is there anything preferably non alcholic that I can substitute for tequila???

Not really.

On a side note however .. low grade ta-kill-ya for cooking is pretty cheap and useful in many marinade recipes so I'd say just splurge and buy a pint.

IMHO "go for the gold" aka buy the "gold" ta-kill-ya for cooking if they have a cheapo brand available, the flavor holds up better .. again IMHO

You CAN use rum, but honestly, tequila has such a unique taste I don't know what would sub well that is non-alcoholic. Maybe just add some more citrus (lemon or lime juice) instead. But it won't be "tequila lime marinade" for sure! ;)

Apparently, you can make a non-alcoholic tequila sub at home using agave nectar. :) I just Googled "tequila flavor extract" (without the quotes) and found a recipe at www.frozen-drink-recipies dot com. The recipe is in the notes at the bottom of the page. :)

OOoo, well for sure you don't want that to happen! Ditch that thought to use rum then - sending him good thoughts and wishes for a speedy move up that list!
