In sympathy....
I'm new to the low carb world and only wish that I would have started along time ago and I also wish that I would have taken the time to tell Dr. Atkins how wonderful this way of living has made me feel. I will truley never be the same person because of his work.
My thoughts go to his family...he will be sorrily missed. |

before this WOE I was honestly convinced that I would spend the rest of my life overweight and really never enjoy my 20s. My self-confidence was low and I felt completely out of control. I gave this a try, and although the results have been slow at times - my energy is great, I feel in control, and most importantly my mindset on food has changed. I eat for energy and sustainment now - not for emotional or other reasons. This has made me realize that I am in control of my health and I need to take responsibility for the decisions I make and not blame them on metabolism or genetics.
4 months ago, I wouldn't have thought this possible. I am so sad to learn of Dr. Atkins' death - especially at a time when his theory was just starting to catch on and studies everywhere are finding he was correct. Rose. |

Today is a sad day indeed. I mourn the death of a great influence in my life.
Although I did not begin my low-carb journey by following the Atkins plan, I can thank Dr. Atkins for pioneering the general approach recommended by the doctor that first suggested cutting carbs to me. In the intervening time, I have lost weight, regained health, and control of my life in many other areas... And I am not alone. I have met countless people who, although they may not be following the strict Atkins way, they have found new vitality, health, and energy by restricting their intake of refined foods, whether they had excess weight or not. If there is one person that has found his way into Heaven, it is our blessed Dr. A. May you rest peacefully in God's bosom, and I'll see you there in time... And I know it will be a looooong time, since I'm so healthy now, I'll probably live to be 100. |

I am sitting here wondering why they recycled my "Success Story" on the Home page of the Atkins Center website. It is kind of a dubious distinction to have my face on there this monring knowing that Dr. Atkins has died.
I feel like Dr. Atkins saved my life. If it were not for his great work and perseverance in the face of incredible adversity I would still be on the fast track to an early death. In some ways I feel as though my own father died today. Before I started Atkins I had frequent chest pains and strange heart palpitations. They went away over a year ago and came back for just a couple minutes after I heard that Dr. Atkins had passed away. How odd is that? May God bless Dr. and Mrs. Atkins and their families and friends during this difficult time. Doug Last edited by dougieb; 04-17-2003 at 09:51 AM.. |

Dr Atkins was an American hero
He was a very brave courageous man who never ever gave up. He never backed down from intense persecution because he knew he was right. He endured 30 years of relentless attacks but never backed down for a minute. Because of that, thousands of people have found good health. If it weren't for his bravery, I would still be fat, still have hypoglycemia, still be depressed, and, no doubt, have diabetes by now. His diet literally changed my life and shaved off years of aging.
He was a great man and a hero who put the truth BEFORE his own convenience. I am deeply grateful to Dr Atkins and very very saddened by his untimely death.

Oh, I am so upset! Great sympathy to his family. We have been robbed of a wonderful influence by a tragic accident. I learned to much about how to stay healthy for a lifetime from his books. I will be forever grateful.

Like many of you, I owe Dr. Atkins my life. My battle with my eating and weight over many years brought me to the realization that I probably wouldn't see my 50th birthday.
All of that is changed. I'm feeling good, feeling healthy, and feeling happy because of his tireless work. I've heard his message and it is now my life. You will be missed but never forgotten good doctor. Starrlet 322/250/150 www.wooshfairy.com |

It is indeed God's blessing that Dr. A. was able to publish his "Atkins for Life" book before his passing. We now have the tools to reach our goals, and maintain the weight loss for a lifetime.

My condolences to Dr. A's family... he will be missed by so many. The greatest legacy he could leave would be that his work would continue and that science would continue to prove out that his theories DO WORK (as has already been proven by those of us who have experienced not only successful weightloss, but the plethora of health benefits to be enjoyed on this WOE).
Thank you, Dr. Atkins... you will be remembered and missed. Pammy V. |

He made life possible again. His knowledge and perserverance are an inspiration to all. I will live on another day because of him and his sacrifices to this way of life. NO words can express what we feel at this time for a man who has helped so many with such little in return from the medical community. I hope he watches down on us and smiles as we continue his work and keep his legacy alive!!!!!

We'll miss you Dr. A!
Dr. Atkins made my life so much better!
It's wonderful he stuck to his theory for 30 years! I'm so happy he saw some positive media attention before his death. Because of the great Dr. Atkins, I have made many wonderful friends while supporting eachother's chosen weightloss plan - The Atkins Diet. |
