The world has lost a great man, a good husband, and a wonderful doctor. But his legacy will live on in the many
people he has touched and as we spread the word about the Atkins way of living and eating, we are continuing his legacy that he built his life on. Once there was one voice about lowcarb diets, now there are many voices. May our voices never be silenced. May God comfort Veronica in this time of sorrow. |

I have been looking for incentive to get back with the program and on this very sad day, I have found it... I have started induction again, and vow to stick with it.....
Dr. Atkins had changed my life once before, and my lapse is my own fault..... I know that I can do it and I will think of his support and knowledge as I progress.... My love and prayers to his family.... Thank you for sharing him with all of his grateful followers for all of these years... |

Aloha to a wonderful giving man. I just read today that he felt that it was God's mission for him to give this WOE to all of us. Well, sir, mission accomplished. I am glad he did finally get to see the recognition he deserved and I know that he is in a wonderful place with our heavenly father. My sympathies and condolences to his family and friends....that would be all of us

My Dearest Dr. Atkins,
I would like like to thank you with all that I am and all that I will become because of all your hard work and perserverance. I have a long road ahead of me. I would like to make a promise to you that I will not stop till I reach my goal. Like you, I am never, never going to give up. I know that your teachings are accurate and I thank you for dedicating so much of your life to those who suffer from this disease called obesity. The best gift I could give you and myself is to live a low carb lifestyle so that I can become a healthy woman and live a longer life... You have lived an incredible life. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to helping others in need. Thank you for never giving up and standing up for what you believed in. Because of you, I will one day get my life back. May you Rest in Peace Dr. Atkins. God Bless and Hold you Always! You will be missed..... Much Love, Linda

I am so grateful for the 30 years of health recovery Dr. Atkins books and research gave to me. And I am grateful he finally got some recognition. It takes tremendous courage to keep standing up for your truth to the medical community. Few people can. God comfort and sustain you, Veronica and family and all.

Farewell My Friend
Wow! I am sitting here taking this all in and sobbing. Just sobbing. The first diet ever introduced to me at the tender age of 7 years old was the Atkins Diet .... back then ... called, "the drinking man's diet." Of course, I was not on the diet ...... but my mother and her girlfriends were playing around with it trying to lose weight. I tried Atkins my first time at age 17 and lost weight. Tried it again at age 30 and lost weight and now at the age of 26; I am convinced that it will be my WOE. And yes, I am losing weight once again and feeling great!
My admiration for Dr. A can not be described in words. I have always been such a rebel and taught to ALWAYS question authority that following this WOE has made all the sense in the world to me. Atkins persistence for what he believed in has changed so many lives for so many of us; and quite possibly for the entire world once all the present studies are concluded. This WOE has allowed me to finally get off anti-depressents after 8.5 years. A blessing and gratitude that again can not be described in words. And I do not suffer just from depression; I am bipolar and was told for years by many doctors that I would NEVER be able to quit the synthetic drugs if I wanted to live a normal life. Thanks to Atkins "Nutra-Vitamin" book and his WOE ....... I live without the highs and lows of sugar, without the crash depressions and manic highs ........ and without the clouded vision that sugar once brought to my daily routine of life. Not to mention the horrible anxiety from caffeine and sugar. I am free from one of the ugliest drugs that is so widely accepted in our society today ......... SUGAR !!! That is a WHOLE LOT of change for one person from two books. By far the cheapest therapy to date. My prayers are with his family ......... i can not even imagine the impact of their loss. I do know that he will be terribly missed and greatly loved for many years to come. God Bless. Tami 2/11/03 185/168/132 |

What a great legacy to leave. His disciples will continue to spread the word for ever.
I wondered whether to post my signature as I usually dont on threads of sadness as I feel no one wants to see a grinning fool but I am a testement to his faith that this woe works so it will go in. |

Dear Dr Atkins:
I am so sorry to hear of your death! through out your life you touched so many lives with your knowledge! Defending your concept against all those people, including doctors, that thought you were crazy or that thought this was "just another a fad diet". Well you proved your point.... you had helped so many individuals meet the inner person hidden inside them, conquer the battle against the bulge and taught them to maintain the success by eating the right foods. We will remember you forever... and I can assure you, in a few more years.. they will give you the recognition and merit you deserve. God Bless you forever... we will miss you a lot... and may God give your family and friends the strenght to cope with your loss. |

Right now, I am so teary-eyed, because I have believed in Dr. Atkins for YEARS!!!!!!
I tried this diet many years ago before it was updated a few years back. I knew it worked, and when he fine-tuned it -- it became AWESOME. We all know there are a lot of copy cat versions of Atkins out there. Why? Because a lot of his colleagues did NOT want to give him credit. Well, we all know they are copy cat diets. They were all built on his (Dr. Atkin) principle -- his research. He is just now getting his "just desserts." I am so very proud to have followed this diet and will continue to do so. In honor of Dr. Atkins life, his research, etc. -- this year I will make a very valiant effort to post my biggest loss ever. God Speed, Dr. Atkins! God Bless Dr. Atkins family and his staff. I just know his tradition will continue. I just know it. God Bless everyone! Peace Rosita
