no what I was meaning with the soduim was when you are eating something very salty it seems to make you retain even with regular sodium amounts. I know it was explained in nursing school but I cant sit and explain it here with out confusing you more. I will go with the when its a more concentrated (sp?) dose, it affects ppl more so than spread though the day (pop, soy sauce, etc.....).

I wanted to offer an idea so you can make the chicken recipe again however. If you have diet rite in your area they make a really good orange pop and they use splenda last lable I read. I think aspartme is a silent killer (jk? lol). I hate the stuff. I was so happy when splenda and stevia and that came on the market. Something about aspartme reminds me of the Tab pop way back when, when it magically dissappeared from the store shelves. ok going to far there, but I think the makers know its not very healthy for you but the sell it anyways cause they know dieting americans will buy it! But that is my the goverment is out to get you rant.

The gain could be any reason, you have to look at the first things and then take it from there. I always look at sodium first because for me, thats a factor. Sugar doesnt affect me as much as salt. I can drink one can of pop and the next day cant take off my rings. It was like that with things like pretzels and peanuts before I restarted the WOE too. The second thing I always look at is hormones........they just make you crazy!

I am glad you let it roll from your shoulders though!!! Thats the best thing! If you take every gain and loss in a week one could throw a scale at times!

Thanks guys, I'm just going to watch everything for awhile... sodium, carbs, water intake, and hopefully soon it'll come back off.

Krow, I hate aspartame. It's weird because in some things, I'm okay with it, but in others I get really bad migraines. I'm not sure if it's the amount or what. I'm not a huge fan of Splenda, but I'll use it over any of the other artificial sweeteners any day. And I love stevia, but I need to switch to another lower carb option than Truvia. There is a brand made here in Oregon called Steviva that I want to try, but I haven't found it at the closest store to me and just haven't had a chance to look anywhere else yet.

Also, I'll see if I can find the diet rite orange. I received another tip that Fanta Zero has an orange flavor and diet Sunkist is safe, too. I didn't like the recipe enough to make it again, but good to know regardless.

Anyway, I hope you guys are having a great day. Thanks for the support!

Hi Sapphira! You are doing so great!

I'm just dropping in to tell you WinCo has Ribeye steaks for $3.98 a pound. Great price!

They sell Steviva at Thriftway-- I can't live without it!

Hi glamazon, thanks for telling me about Winco! I still haven't made it out there yet, but plan to check it out this week. And I'll have to see if my Thriftway has Steviva. How do you like it compared to other brands? I hear it's less bitter... if so, that's exactly what I want.

Day 37, February 6 ~

Today's Weight: 274
Today's Vitamins: Forgot, too late to take.
Today's Water: 48 oz (so far)

Sorry I haven't posted the last two days... I had to babysit earrrrrly Saturday morning and was gone all day, then when I got back Jerry and I did our taxes and by the time we were done with that I was too exhausted to do the math.

I put on an additional 2 pounds (water?) since then. But you guys were right! I started spotting around 1am this morning. It's very light right now, but I've been cramping a little bit here and there, so hopefully something will actually happen. Either way, my last TOM (if you can even call it that) started on the 8th of January... this month started on the 6th. This is officially the least amount of time between periods I've ever had. Steviva Blend is the best sweetener available, and I'm an expert-- lol! It's not full of chemical garbage and has a clean deep sweet-- as close to cane sugar as I've found. Bakes beautifully as well. Ideal brand powdered sugar is a close second, but it has a smidge of splenda (which I don't like) and a lot of maltodextrin (which I hate.) It does bake really well, though.

Good luck finding it locally! You can always order online.

BWYA: Thank you!

Krow: That drink sounds amazing! Guess what the hubby and I just ordered today as a joint gift for Valentines Day? A Sodastream soda maker! So low carb orange soda may be in my near future, mwahaha. Take that, Orange Crush!

glam: They both sound great. I've never heard of Ideal. I'll have to look into it, because it's hard to find sweetener in powdered form. I never minded splenda until I tried stevia... now it tastes so artificial to me. But if it's that good...

Day 38, February 7 ~

Today's Weight: 272 (-2)
Today's Vitamins: I actually remembered.
Today's Water: 64 oz

I felt a little brave today, so I ventured out to Winco. Didn't really have a plan and didn't even go in with a list because I had no idea what to expect. Well, I'm impressed! It's basically Aldis, but with name brand products. It took a couple of hours because I just had to go down every aisle and look at every item and it was super busy, but by the time I walked out of there I had so many LC goodies...

Sirloin steaks, ham steaks, salmon, hot dogs, pork carnitas, italian sausage, bacon, 4 big blocks of cheese, ricotta cheese, romaine hearts, mushrooms, cabbage, zucchini and a lot more. I was so surprised that they had sugar free chocolates and candy in bulk! And they are actually good! LOL

And the best part? I only spent $75 bucks for all of it! So a big shout out to glamazon and Rawben for recommending Winco.

Now if I could just figure out what to cook with all this food...

~Today's Menu~

Breakfast: Ricotta Cream Cereal

2/3 cup ricotta cheese ($0.72)
1 egg ($0.12)
6 tablespoons heavy cream ($0.24)
10 drops EZ-Sweetz ($0.50)
1 teaspoon cinnamon ($0.05)
1 teaspoon vanilla ($0.15)

Recipe Cost: $1.78
Cost Per Serving: $0.89

Lunch: Hot Dog Scramble

3 eggs ($0.37)
1 hot dog ($0.50)
1/4 cup cheddar cheese ($0.15)
1 tablespoon Heinz Reduced Sugar Ketchup ($0.16)
1 tablespoon butter ($0.06)
Salt & Pepper ($0.01)

Recipe Cost: $1.25
Cost Per Serving: $1.25

Dinner: Sirloin Steak & Mushrooms

16 oz sirloin steak ($4)
1 lb mushrooms ($2.77)
2 tablespoons butter ($0.12)
1 tablespoon cooking sherry ($0.20)
1 teaspoon worchestershire sauce ($0.06)
Salt & Pepper ($0.01)

Recipe Cost: $7.16
Cost Per Serving: $3.58

I seen you bought salmon.......yesterday as a matter of fact I tried my own salmon patty. I put in a pouch of salmon, 1 egg, a couple of crushed up pork rinds, and a little dill, salt and pepper. And fried it in olive oil. I put a little bit of sour cream on top and it wasnt half bad! I am not a big salmon eater, but this didnt have the strong taste at all! Was quite happy with dinner, while teh rest of the family ate spaghetti!!! (gosh I love spag!! but was good and just smelled it lol!)

Krow, why didn't you have spaghetti, too? Just make a very meat & mushroom heavy sauce and eat a bowl of that smothered with parmesan-- LC spaghetti heaven! None of that noodle business in your way!

aaaaah gotcha. So sorry! Do plain tomatoes give you heartburn, or are you using a jarred sauce? I'm asking because a lot of processed foods have chemicals and such in them that do cause heartburn-- maybe a nice natural organic homemade type won't do that to you? Just wondering.

The cereal, hmm... I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Something in it made the consistency/texture kind of like raw dough... it was gooey and slimy and just not pleasant. The flavor was wonderful, though! So if I make it again, I will leave out the egg and see if that helps the texture at all. And yes, I just combined everything in a pan and cooked on the stove until warmed through.

Mmm, I LOVE salmon! It's one of the few fish that doesn't make me sick. I haven't had it in a long time because of the price, but Winco had huge frozen filets for just under $7 that will make at least 4 large portions. Not bad!

Do you still get really bad heartburn on LC? I used to get the worst heartburn every day, but since starting LC have only had it a few times. Wondering if it's just me. I haven't tried spaghetti yet though! Definitely gonna have to try that sometime.

Today's Weight: 273 (+1)
Today's Vitamins: Taken.
Today's Water: 88 oz

Well, the contracts didn't come today... not sure if they just didn't get mailed in time or what, but hopefully it'll be here tomorrow. The Sodastream arrived, though! We made three different flavors: diet lemon lime, diet root beer and diet fountain mist (mountain dew?). They were all good and made with Splenda rather than aspartame, thank goodness. No migraines here. I am pleased with it!

As far as my progress is concerned, still fluctuating 1 or 2 lbs a day right now. I haven't actually had any activity other than the small amount of spotting on the 6th and 7th, but my body seems to want to hold onto this water for the time being. Crossing my fingers that it comes off soon or I may not be able to meet my goal for the month.

Oh, I almost forgot! Dinner tonight looked so scrumptious (and WAS) that I decided to follow BWYA and glamazon's examples and take a picture. Mmm... steak and eggs smothered in butter. Hope you aren't hungry when you see this!

The Sodastream is a carbonating machine. It comes with 1 liter sized bottles that you fill with tap water, screw onto the machine and then press a button a couple of times to add food grade CO2 to make sparkling water. They also have a decent selection of diet syrups that are made with splenda and can be added to the water after it's carbonated to make soda. The syrups we bought were $5 at Bed Bath and Beyond and one bottle makes 33 cans. That's about 15 cents a can. My previous target price for a 12 pack was $3.33 on sale, or 27 cents a can... so it's an excellent savings over time.

That's not including the cost of the CO2 refills though, because we just don't know how many cans it will make yet. Even if it ends up being the same, the fact that they don't use aspartame is enough reason for me to keep using it.

Hope that helps!

OH! And I forgot to mention... we got the paperwork today! There is SOOO much to go over, it'll probably take the entire weekend to get everything together. I hope we can because then we could probably move out next week sometime. The hardest part will be getting my brother to go over his papers what with his crazy schedule. :P

Good luck on the paperwork! I hope you can "corner" your brother! I'm sure he wants it sold, so he'll be motivated, right?

Actually, right after I posted that about his "crazy schedule", I gave him a call and he was just getting off work, so we got to meet up with him a little later. They do want it sold, but are conflicted! The mortgage company needs the original title in order to finalize the loan, but they are saying they don't want to hand the title over until they've got the money in their hands, and rightfully so.

My husband called the loan representative today to discuss that and he basically told us that unless they get the title, the funds won't be processed because they could send the check and if they never received the title, they'd be out that money. Makes sense. But the same could be said for my brother and his wife... so I don't know what's going to happen.

I'm so stressed out about it but trying to remember that if it's meant to be, it'll happen and if not, there's something better out there for us.

isn't that why people use a title company? a neutral party to transfer funds and title? both sides have a valid point! you don't want to give that kind of money without the title and don't want to give the title without that kind of money!!! maybe find out how much a title company would charge and see if the lender/brother would accept using one.

Hmm, I'm not sure, I've never done this before. We don't have a real estate agent and neither does my brother, so we're kind of just making it up as we go along. I'm going to look into these title companies you speak of...

Thanks! They are kind of time consuming to put together, but I'm such a nerd, I enjoy doing the numbers.
