I came back to this thread today to see if there was any update, and also to share a far-fetched idea if the doctors still don't have answers.

Addison's Disease.

It's an insufficiency of he adrenal glands that can lie hidden until some other major stress causes a crisis. The ironic thing is that it is caused by very low cortisol levels. When a person stops eating, the adrenal glands pump out enough cortisol, and the person feels well again. If they eat, they immediately feel sick. So they are rewarded in a round-about way for refusing food. Easy for them to test for it.

SHE'S EATING!!!

Friday and Saturday I was so ready to trade my own life so she would eat. It was that bad. April and Bret were literally at the end of hope. There was no words to describe the despair we were feeling.

Today I went up with Bret and April to try again. I needed to see what, why, how or anything. I just wanted some sort of answer. I'd settle for blatent lies.

When we got to her room her day nurse was in near tears. This time for joy. There she stood. A strawberry dum-dum in her hand. Half eaten. The nurse said she just out of nowhere decided it was time to eat.

By the time we had left 3 1/2 hours later, she was still happily eating lollipop after lollipop. Strawberry, watermelon, cherry. DGD was eating. April and Bret wore true smiles for the first time in 21 days.

On our way home from the hosp the night nurse called us and told us she had asked for - Froot Loops. The entire floor of nurses searched for fruit loops and all they could find was apple jacks. So they set a bowl of apple jacks on her table and proceeded to not pay attention to DGD or make to much of a fuss over the fact that she wanted something. While DGD thought they were not watching DGD proceeded to lick each and every one of the apple jacks, Once again there was cause for celebration. WE cried. Called every person we could. This was 1000% so much more than the nurses and Dr's could ever have hoped for.

30 minutes later the nurse called us again. DGD was happily sitting on her bed in her room eating Apple Jacks from the box - by the handful.

There are no words in any language that can convey what I feel right now.

I can only hope and pray that this is the beginning of a happy ending. She has a long way to go before she is any way cured but after 3 weeks of agony, it is a start.

Thank you. I couldnt' have done it without you. I never would have survived without all your prayers of hope and good thoughts and healing vibes.

I'm so exhausted. I need my pillow and blanket. April will send an e-mail updating DGD. I will share it with you tomorrow.
